“Guys Are Not Complaining Anymore”
May 23rd, 2013There was so much talk last season about the New Schiano Order “changing the culture” and plucking Buccaneer “weeds in the roses.” It was nauseating chatter but necessary after the “country club” work ethic under Raheem Morris.
Well, it seems that the New Schiano Order changes were very evident during this week’s OTA practices, so explained Gerald McCoy in this Buccaneers.com video after a team training session this week.
“Having a year under our belts and just knowing what to expect has helped out a lot. You know, guys are not complaining anymore,” McCoy said. “They know how things go around here. And it’s just ritual. It’s not routine anymore. We call it, ‘ritual.’ So it’s ritual to work the way we work now, and everybody’s enjoying it.”
McCoy went on to praised the tempo of practice versus this time last year, as well as the conditioning level of the team.
Whether the improved attitude and work ethic translates into wins is unknown — hey, Raheem won 10 in 2010 — but it surely can’t hurt.

Thats a nice quote, but I think Barth’s comment in his interview takes the cake. Its a real eyebrow-raiser…

Get out the “Weed & Feed”…its that time of year….at least we needed to get rid of the weeds last year. Winslow, Price, Tanard J., Briscoe, & Talib are gone. (Question mark for Blount)
Hopefully all attitudes are ready to go to work. Loaded with ex college captains, the Bucs should have plenty of leadership on board.”Toes on the line”….and that means you too, Myron!!!

@tampabaybucfan
Brian Price does not deserve to be lumped in with those knuckle heads. What happened to Price is nothing short of tragic. The man suffered a career ending injury in his rookie season.

WestCoastBucs fan I agree with you, not to mention the tragic losses of multiple family members over the years took a tole on him. I hope he gets right…
I like the swagger the vets and even the new guys are displaying. Love Spence’s attitude and fire.

@WestCoastBucFan
I thought punching Mark Baron qualifies him….granted he had some very tragic issues to deal with but could still play. I think Schiano traded him because he wasn’t, in his opinion “A Buccaneer Man”
I’ll put him in the Question Mark category with Blount.

Barron (as a rookie) came in and told Price (as a veteran) to get out of his seat. (Something like that.) Price was simply asserting his veteran status. There is a reason he is out of a job right now. He never fully recovered from his injury. That on top the family issues that tmaxcon mentioned. The guy has just had incredibly bad luck since getting drafted.

After hearing, I think it was Casillas say that Schiano’s practices weren’t even as tough as Sean Payton’s, It is amazing that we were at ALL competitive under Raheem…

As I recall, I believe it was the opposite. Price told Barron to get out of his seat, in which Barron refused. Thats how I remember it anyways. I could be wrong.

@Couch Fan
That sounds right to me too. I think that is how it happened. Makes a little more sense.

West coast- actually, in an interview Joe posted from a Chicago reporter- price said his trade was due to his not agreeing with the strict Schiano discipline. He said it had nothing to do with the injury!

Good riddance to him. And the rest.
Only Blount remains a mystery. By all accounts he “toed the line”
But it appears he couldn’t pick up the pass blocking schemes

I would absolutely LOVE to see that quote. I sincerely doubt those were his words.

Off topic… Doug Martin #57 of Top 100
May 23rd, 2013 at 8:50 pm
Where’s Little Michelle Stupido now?
She’s certainly not going to make an appearance here now that GMC, the undisputed leader of the Defense, has stated, unequivically, that the players are “enjoying it”.
Another one bites the dust. Good riddance.

The only ones complaining now are the fans that want to see this team too finally have success.
May 23rd, 2013 at 9:51 pm
@the_buc_pessimist: Nah, there will always be posters who do nothing but complain, who do nothing but accentuate the negative. Right? I mean, I don’t expect you to stop what you’ve been doing all this time.

@Piratic,
Good call.
I like this team and all the players on it. They have taken out the trash and I can’t wait for the season. This team should be damn good barring injuries and they could very well be the class of the NFC. I can sure feel it coming, with the amount of strength and conditioning. I do think the Glazers should built an indoor practice facility for bad weather and away games on turf. I think it will help the team prepare.

@ Piratic
yup, Miguel el stupido ran off after all of his negative BS comments were proven wrong… or maybe he goes by the name of a certain someone called bucs_realist now. that wouldn’t surprise me.
I expect the same thing to happen to the Freeman haters once Freeman lights it up this season.
May 23rd, 2013 at 11:04 pm
@ BigMacAttack
I feel it coming too.

The reist has been here for a long time, and he may be negative but i would not say he is stupid…miguel took thomas 2 to a new level.
May 24th, 2013 at 6:41 am
Should have said realist. Damn iphone.

Blount needed a driver to wake his lazy arse up every day and drive him to practice. I’d say that qualifies him. Talib, Winslow, Price, TJax were all knuckleheads who had to go. I like the way this Schiano team is shaping up!
