“Get In Line With The Movement”

Marques Colston, Steve Smith, Julio Jones, Roddy White, these are NFC South names that inspired rockstar general manager Mark Dominik this offseason, so he said during an NFL.com podcast this week.
Dominik talked about focusing on winning the division and joining the NFL trend of countering elite receivers with elite, big defensive backs.
“We’re trying to get in line with the movement,” Dominik said.
Dominik talked about limiting the production of the NFC South’s great receivers, and how the Bucs are focused on length of defensive backs because it’s a game of inches. Or as Greg Schiano might say, “a shoe.”
Dominik also went on to talk about how Darrelle Revis will add leadership and free up Greg Schiano to be more flexible with Xs and Os — “open up the defense.”
Interestingly, Dominik also touched on his excitement that Revis will bring a national spotlight to the Bucs. It’s been somewhat rare during the Schiano regime to hear anyone from the Bucs talk about anything other than performance on the field.

Too bad the Pop-star did not just draft a d-line that could just Sack the QB, then you would not have too worry what receivers are lining up. If ( and that is a huge IF) the pop-star makes it another off-season, look for him to spend big in free agency for D-line

If the QB has to take an extra second or two because the DB’s are covering the WR’s, then the DL stats will be much improved. Why don’t people reallize this?

This isn’t Madden… all because you have high rated DBs doesn’t mean they can stop an all passing freindly league.
Although, I can’t wait to get the latest Madden for this season… the Bucs team will be beastly on paper (video game rather).

Does anyone remember that we had pretty much all undrafted rookie CB’s last year? The QB was getting rid of the ball for 15 yard gains in 3 seconds. Without signing FA’s and trading for Revis our secondary would be much improved over last year. A second is a long time, if we can add 1 or 2 because the WR’s are covered, that gives the DL more time to reach the QB.
Also, after we go 13-3 this season, next year’s Madden will be better for the Bucs.

Yah but, Yah but …they wern’t flashy , big name free agents, & of course, that’s all that could possibly do any good, whatsoever. Gotta have that big name.

Naysayers a plenty WestCoast, the same people that say we don’t have any big names on the DL say that just because we have big names at DB doesn’t mean they will play well. Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner were unknowns. Sherman was a 5th rd pick from Stanford and Browner was undrafted free agent from CFL.
I’ve been saying 13-3, I really see us going 11-5 honestly, but I would not be surprised at all if we went 13-3. Which is why I will continue to say 13-3!!!

hmmm, I think the Pop-star has drafted 9 D-lineman since he has been here….And the Bucs have been bottom 5 every year in pass rush since the Pop-star has been here….

Hopefully we see a Buc D-Lineman collect 10 sacks this year. It would be the 1st ten sack season since Simeon Rice.

Good point realist.
Dom should have known that Roy Miller would have dealt with injuries for 2-3 years after having no injury history in college. Dom should have looked into his magical crystal ball to see that McCoy would tear both of his biceps in back to back seasons after having no injury history in college. He should have went to see his fortune teller to find out that Brian Price would have a freak career ending injury after having no injury history in college. Bowers and Clayborn had injury history but their injuries last season were not related to their injury issues in college. (Bowers had knee concerns but tore an achilles and Clayborn had shoulder issues and tore an ACL.)
The six players he has drafted (three of those “nine” you mention have never played in the NFL) have had unfortunate and unpredictable luck with injuries. (Except sack-less Kyle Moore, an obvious miss).
Find something else to complain about or go buy a BIG box of Kotex.

My comment was directed at your mention of “…bottom 5 every year in pass rush”.
I said nothing about the playoffs. (Very weird that you were so specific with the “playoffs at least twice” when I didn’t mention them at all.) I said that we have been very unfortunate with serious injuries to key players. (Last season alone with Davin Joseph, Carl Nicks, Da’quan Bowers, Adrian Clayborn, Quincy Black and not to mention losing our number one and number two corner for a large amount of the season as well.)
That is a lot of starters to lose for a significant portion of the season.
Your also as high as that invisible jet if you think Glennon is starting for anything other than injury this season. It simply will not happen.

Well, when the GM gets replaced, I hope that the next GM is more “lucky”.
on second thought, maybe its the fans fault for all this bad luck, We as fans should find all the Rabbits feet, four leaf clovers, and anything else that is magical and lucky to send to the Pop-star.

Your mockery of the “luck” factor is very misplaced. Teams talk every year about how you have to get lucky with a certain series of events lining up to make the Super Bowl. Luck (or chance or whatever you would like to call it) is a HUGE factor in football. One ball tipped at the line and the corner takes it to the house. One play like that can change the outcome of a game. The difference between the best and the worst team in the league is razor thin. Its the reason the Ravens (SB champs) lost to the lowly Eagles (3rd pick in the draft) last season. The better team doesn’t always win.

I think our Defensive line is going to be much better than people think. J 2.0 you are on to something. Better corner play will help our D line. If we go 13-3 I won’t know what to with myself. I have us going 11-5 but playoffs for sure.

Dominik has done his job. There is enough talent on this team for 12 wins. Top 5 RB, Top 5 WR, 2 Top 5 Guards, Top 5 DT, Best CB, Best FS in the game. Budding stars, Williams, Freeman. What more do you want? Its up to Schiano and Freeman. Make it or break it year for both
