Lots Of Happy Young Bucs
March 14th, 2013Joe loved the story of Leonard Johnson living at home in Clearwater on a twin bed to save money, but now Joe’s starting to think Johnson needs to spread his wings.
ESPN NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas got hold of a pile of salary data on the bonus structure for low-paid NFL players who outperform their pay grade. And Johnson cashed in to the tune of $227,000 in bonus pay, tops on the Bucs for 2012.
Lavonte David, Demar Dotson and other Bucs also cashed in. The full list is available via the link above.
Joe wonders whether Johnson will buy the Adderrall Twins a thank-you dinner.

This kid is going to be good. Another year in the system with a whole off season, I like him as our nickel/dime right now and has starting experience as well.

Revis, wright, Johnson, biggers. I actually like that line up. Or Rhodes, wright, Johnson, biggers.

Young talent. Quick not fast so good in the slot. Few more years of experience should help him with coverage.

If they sign Revis don’t expect Wright to be on the roster. Revis 10-15 million with need to come from somewhere.

We haven’t signed any cornerbacks yet (i’m not talking about scrubs like Johnson). Until we do, this is not a successful free agency for us. Freeman could throw for 8,000 yards next year and we’ll still be bad without new CB’s.
Great news on the Goldson signing though!

Sean Smith and Grimes are stil out there

Yeah, I wouldn’t close the door on Johnson as a future starter, but the Bucs need to sign at least one CB in FA. If that’s the case, draft one, but I almost expect the Bucs to sign 2 CBs and develop Johnson & Tandy.

Sean Smith just signed with KC…down to Grimes or Revis….
