An Eric Wright Return?

January 30th, 2013

Tampa Tribune Bucs beat writer Woody Cummings goes deep into the Bucs’ movements at the Senior Bowl and many other topics of interest with Dan Lucas, via the TBO.com video below. Cummings references rockstar general manager and Greg Schiano’s offseason film review and what that means for Josh Freeman, and he leaves the door open for an Eric Wright return, a move that would shock Joe thoroughly. Enjoy.

Tony Oden has been reported as new DB coach, so hmmm, maybe.

  2. ShayneGoodfellow Says:

Only way I’m fine with bringing back this guy is if we re-do his contract. He let his team down so bad and did not play up to his contract when healthy, that I see he deserves AT THE VERY MOST, 2 million per year. If hes not willing to accept that get rid of this horrible teammate, but decent corner. If we bring him back at his contract he has right now I will be never forgive Dominik and Schiano.. Cant describe how angry I’ll be if they dont re-do his contract or cut him. Also, why the f*ck are we giving Myron “Cant cover anyone” Lewis so many god damn chances.. It is simple, he is not good enough to play in the NFL. He should come to my country and play in the CFL because he is simply not good enough for our bucs..

  3. Macabee Says:

With the right contract, I’m okay with Erighteous. The issue for me is whether he is healthy. While he’s no shutdown CB, the guy can play. There is no Buc highlight reel any better than his INT and TD return against Eli Manning. I’m good with whatever they decide on EW.

  4. MadMax Says:

Dont forget about his TD against Dallas that was taken away by replacement refs.
Def need to restructure for lower money. Im ok with it since we’re hurting so bad back there. But needs to be healthy, much cheaper and needs to play more.

    Eric Wright is outta here.

If Eric Wright comes back, than all eyes are on Dominick.

This is not a “rockstar” move, Joe. 😉

  6. Jacko101 Says:

If he is brought back much cheaper why not?

  7. Terraj Says:

Wright isnt worth half the money he made. He gambles too much. I cant think of a buc ive hated more in recent years. It’d be one thing if he was just injured but mysterious illness, supposedly taking aderrol, and running into another car drunk. This guy is just a piece of shi*t. Bucs are desperate at corner but it’d still shock me if he’s back

  8. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

He’s not gonna redo contract. He all about The West Coast and will end up there and take a pay cut (his wife also loves California)

  9. Patrick Says:

Eric Wright is too expensive for an average CB. We can upgrade for much cheaper.

  10. Celly Says:

As of right now, Wright is our best cornerback on the roster. If we can redo his contract, bring in a solid free agent and draft and future stud, i’m ok w/ him staying.

  11. BucSnob Says:

Shaynegoodfellow…I disagree. Myron Lewis is not good enough for the CFL either. I’m trying to figure out what dirt he has on the Glazers or Mark Dom because there’s no reason why he should still be on this team!

  12. Mike Martin Says:

I believe the 2013 season will once again prove to be a “DB BY COMMITTEE” season. If that is the case then let him compete for a position after he takes a huge pay cut……. Nothing to lose.

  13. Mike Says Says:

Lot of DB’s limited talent in both free agency and draft. With exception of Revis no value. Pick the best 8 and rotate them a lot…….

  14. JobBucsFan 1.5 Says:

If the Bucs null and void Eric’s contract then that automatically makes him an unrestricted free agent, which then he doesn’t have to accept any Buc offers and can entertain outside offers. Everyone keeps saying sign him back for less, well he doesn’t have to accept less.

  15. Oahubuc Says:

I really don’t want Wright back. He’s got Paid-itis, and he’s got it bad.
