The Peyton Manning Head Slap

December 2nd, 2012

Greg Schiano give a congratulatory head slap and kind words to Peyton Manning on the field today after Manning completed a pass to a receiver on the ground. Frankly, Joe didn’t like the head coach’s smiley reaction.

Not that it was so awful, but Joe doesn’t see Schiano as a guy who’s wired like that. Joe prefers to believe Schiano is a guy that would rather invest those precious two seconds on his own team, especially since Schiano preaches maximizing every second of practice time.

Joe just didn’t like it, just as Joe didn’t like it when Raheem Morris was on the field during a break in play in Green Bay last year whooping it up with Aaron Rodgers.

Joe can’t recall such friendly, in-game gestures sent the Bucs way.

“Joe just didn’t like it, just as Joe didn’t like it when Raheem Morris was on the field during a break in play in Green Bay last year whooping it up with Aaron Rodgers.”

Thank you Joe for your consistency. I wondered if you’d make a comment on it. MAJOR kudos.

  2. Fear The Glow Says:

Meh it doesn’t bother me. It’s not like he was actively cheering him on. Just a quick show of respect. It was a pretty ridiculous play.

  3. J-VillesBuc84 Says:

That was a smile of ” I F%@cking hate you Peyton”

  4. 507 Bucs fan Says:

Chill pill guys, heck even John Lynch laughed at it. It’s Peyton Manning, one of the greatest to ever play the game, making a play only a guy with his inteligence and awareness makes.

  5. Pruritis Ani Says:

Didn’t like it either.. I hate Herman Munster Manning.. his hillbilly daddy Archie, and his Deliverance looking little brother Eli.

  6. Bone doc Says:

Ahhh, come on!! Big difference between that and Raheem’s picnic with Rodgers. It was all of 1 second of Schiano giving him Kudos for making a fantastic play directly in front of him.

  7. Eric Says:

Mr. manning makes coaches look good, doesn’t he.

  8. ryan Says:

    nitpicking.

  9. Dave Says:

I get where JOE is coming from BUT in this case, it was more of “Are you F***ing kidding me?!” head slap. All you can do is laugh. The defense was perfect: knock the WR down and go get a slow QB. Instead Manning just puts it in the lap of a WR on the ground 1 yard pass the 1st down marker.

I really think it was an in the moment “what the heck our we supposed to do” type thing.

    I don’t have a problem with it.

I’m tired of everybody kissing Peyton Manning’s berries. Players seeking autographs, coaches, analysts, pizza chain owners….list goes on and on.

  11. CanadianBucsFan Says:

Are you f*****g kidding me Joe? Manning made a great play and it was pretty funny as well and Schiano quickly gave him credit for making a nice play out of nothing. It took him 2 seconds to do that, and is football always supposed to hostile? No. Its not like hes doing this all the time, like common Joe clean the sand out of your vag..

  12. Miguel El Magnifico Says:

I would expect the old Woody Hayes type of congratulatory tap from Schiano.

  13. Big Picture Guy Says:

Ridiculous play, by the best QB ever. How can you do anything but shake your head and pay respect? What do you want Schiano to do Joe, “put a jersey on?!”

  14. Pete Dutcher Says:

Childish article. I realize emotion runs high after a loss…but this is below the norm for this website.

  15. clintro Says:

I don’t think it mattered much. It was a “what the f” kinda head slap imo.

  16. Have A Nice Day Says:

It is funny that Joe saw it that way. I know I was laughing in disbelief but somehow expectant that Manning would make that play.

I thought it was cool that Schiano showed respect for a phenomenal play by the one and only.

  17. Have A Nice Day Says:

I must be tired, because I agree with the Dutcher.

  18. Vic Says:

Agree Joe. I had no use for that either. This isn’t pee-wee football and Schiano doesn’t run his team like that.

  19. bucfanjeff Says:

Joe is starting to nit pick on the little sh!t. It was a nice pass and better catch to a guy laying on the ground.

  20. bucsnbeer Says:

It was a ridiculous play… laughing is the only real response you have in that case.

  21. DieHard_Bob Says:

Lighten up Joe! I thought it was great that Coach took a second to tap him with a kudo for that rediculous play. That play was just another example of Manning being Manning doing whatever he can to make a positive play. I’m not a huge Manning fan but I would have done the same thing.

  22. Beneath you Says:

This is so stupid. I don’t even know what to say. An idiotic post.

He was just saying good job to the Greatest Quarterback That Ever Lived.

  23. Mavsmoney Says:

This is the type of play that only the greats make. Manning didn’t even hesitate and he didn’t do it to make highlights, he did it to get that first down. Joe, great things are coming for this team and this won’t change any of that. In 10 years youll remember the play not the head slap and appreciate having watched the greatest quarterback of all time do his thing.

  24. SacBucs Says:

    Well said….Mavsmoney!

Joe Im glad you watching..tell me why the refs keep f-ing up the dam game..With these phantom calls! They flag us like the Raiders.
