Schiano Says He Wants Barber Back In 2013
December 26th, 2012The leader of the New Schiano Order did not flinch this afternoon when asked whether he wants Ronde Barber back for the 2013 season.
Greg Schiano praised Barber’s transition to safety and said Barber’s return was up to No. 20. Pressed further, Schiano made he it clear that he wants Barber on his football team next year and called Barber “the fabric of this organization.”
Schiano said Barber’s focused, game-by-game preparation is much like the head coach’s, so the topic of Barber’s return is not something he feels comfortable talking to Barber about until after the season ends.
Assuming Barber doesn’t get injured Sunday, as he did on the final game of 2011, Joe suspects Barber will make a quick decision.

1 more year, 1 more year and I will probably say it again next year

I think he is one of if not the greatest Bucs of all time….certainly on the medal stand with Selmon and Brooks. (Before I get flamed like the Buc’s secondary…it’s what he’s meant to The Bucs more so that just talent.) Anywho, as much as I love the guy as a player, part of me wants him to call it a spectacular career. It’s better to leave a year too early than a year too late IMO. It’s been hard for him to endure(us as well)the collapses of these past two seasons.

He better come back. Bucs are making a SuperBowl run next season (if all keys players stay healthy)

Schiano would be a fool if he said anything but this. Lol

I have a feeling he will not be back next year.

Whether or not Barber returns next season will tell us where he thinks this team is going. I sense a little tension between Barber and Schiano. And thats from Ronde’s interviews especially the one prior to the Philly game.
Barber can do whatever the hell he wants. He’s earned that. I’d love to have him back but I can understand him wanting to move on. The NFL is a grind and this season had to be one of the most trying of Ronde’s career.

I hope he does he has played very well as a safety but I can understand if he doesn’t this year has been very frustrating for him. However, I think he will most great players want to play as long as they can especially if they can do so at a high level which he is doing.
@JonBuc – I agree with you about him. He is one of the best Bucs of all time. Right up there with Brooks, Sapp and Selmon. The interesting thing about him is he was a late round acquisition and was able to outsmart and outwork his opponents. His raw talent is nowhere near the other 3 but he made up for it in cleverness, work and heart.

Smart and professional. He’s a credit not only to the team but to this city. He’s always been the Buc I admire most.

With Barber , Barron, and Black, I think the Safety position is fine for next year. They CBs and alot of them. Along with a TE and D-Linemen that get pressure.

I very much hope that Ronde gives it 1 more year. His mentality is exceptional and his experience is invaluable to this talented, young team. Not to mention I love watching the incredible plays he creates every game!! Always been my favorite Buc of all time since his first game ever played!
