Medical Uncertainty Around Quincy Black

The leader of the New Schiano Order updated the status of some Buccaneers on injured reserve this morning at One Buc Palace and said a cloud of uncertainty remains around Quincy Black.
Black suffered some sort of complex nerve/neck injury in November that knocked him out for the season and left him with physical limitations. Today, Schiano said Black has seen specialists around the country and offered no specifics on Black’s condition.
The Bucs have finished paying guaranteed money to Black, who signed a five-year, nearly $29 million deal before the 2011 season. However, the Bucs could be on the hook for the rest of Black’s contract if Black can not play football again.
Schiano reported no snags in the comebacks of Carl Nicks, Davin Joseph and Adrian Clayborn.

Not funny you EVIL person.
He has a family and he couldve broke his neck on that hit. I saw hit live, and prayed for him live. It was a serious helmet to helmet hit on the side of his head.
He played HARD this year. Taking on blockers so others could ger their tackles.
He was in the backfield when he got hurt, stuffing the run.

It sucks because he seemed to shake his YOUNGRINESS and was playing at a fairly high and aggressive level. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Agree Teacherman. When you show no sympathy when other are going through something, then don’t expect any when it your time to go through tough times. I wasn’t a Black fan but Hope he get well. I know how tough it is to have a family member that dealing with serious nerves issues and how it affect the whole family.

If the guy is permanently damaged and can’t play football he should get all his money. Who cares about salary cap in a situation like that.

I don’t think there is any impact on the salary cap and if it is it can only be up to the maximum allowed under the new CB – 1mil.

I was there and saw it live, as well…knew right away very serious…there were 3 drunk Charger fans behind us, who sound like the “Gay Drinking guy” we have here, who were laughin it up, calling Black names,etc….those 3 were prompltly and appropriately run out of their seats by local Buc fans.

I think Quincy is holding all the cards here. He could clear himself medically, accept the pay cut the Bucs are jamming down his throat and hope to play 10 more years to make up for his loss.
He could also choose to retire, unable to complete the gauntlets with out falling on his face. Then he could keep his entire contract and his self respect.
Interesting predicament.
