Bucs Reunion Appears To Be A Hit

November 30th, 2012

Yesterday, word began filtering out about what Bucs players (and coaches) would return to  Dec. 9 for a home game against the Eagles to honor the 10th anniversary of the Bucs’ lone Super Bowl championship, and Chucky’s name was the first released.

Well, Buccaneers.com has a full list of attendees (thus far) and nearly every member of that team is showing up, including the good Dexter Jackson, who was the Super Bowl MVP.

Interestingly, a player who was a key cog but never quite fit in and was all but thrown off the team the following season, Meshawn Johnson, is not among those pledging to attend.

Yes, Joe knows Meshawn works for the four-letter on Sunday mornings, but so too does Warren Sapp work Sunday mornings (on the NFL Network) and he is attending.

Here is the list so far of Bucs coming back for the 10-year reunion:

    This is gonna be awesome!

  2. DallasBuc Says:

Isn’t coach Gruden STILL getting paid by the Glazers? It’s the least he can do is show up. Looks like the only one still sore about the band breakup is Keyshawn. Big man in some ways, small in others I guess.

  3. Ian's Gay Lisp & Ron's Drinking Problem Says:

Will Shaun King need a crane to help him onto the field??? Anywho, it’s gonna be a great day

  4. ClayBURN94 Says:

    LMFAO^^^ Shaun “Burger” King

  5. Pete Dutcher Says:

    No Monte?

  6. Danny Says:

Glazers finished paying off Gruden last season.

  7. Macabee Says:

If this game doesn’t sell out, I don’t know when one ever will. This game has all the SuperBowl stars; it’s a game the Bucs should win; and it’s a team that Jon Gruden likely will be coaching next year!

  8. OAR Says:

I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn’t be our style.
Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory… lasts forever.

    2002 Super Bowl Champs, baby!!

    @DallasBuc…

I think you might be thinking of that yahoo article. The writer has not a clue. Chucky’s not getting paid by the Glazers anymore.

  10. OAR Says:

    Oops…. 2002 season, 2003 Super Bowl.

This is so cool. I really wish I had the funds to fly out of Buffalo and attend this game, but sadly I’ll have to experience this one from home.

I’m impressed at the list of players attending, it’s a huge chunk of the 2002 roster and features just about every impact player. While I wasn’t holding my breath at the involvement of Keyshawn Johnson, I’m hearing that ESPN won’t let him off his Sunday responsibilities to attend the game. Is this true, Joe? If so, I really hope ESPN reconsiders, especially if Keyshawn wants to be present for the ceremony. Yeah, it didn’t have a happy ending, but time can heal certain wounds, and we did get some productive years from Joey Galloway in return, so it’s not like Key left us entirely high and dry, however, to be fair, his insubordination in 2003 was unacceptable. Man, that 2003 season was agony for a Bucs fan. I don’t even want to talk about it, this thread is about the championship team.

Onome Ojo (??????) has RSVP’d but not Rob Johnson? Rob’s probably afraid King might eat him!

  13. kh Says:

Remember the Americas Game where Warren Sapp basically says Keyshawn was never really a part of the team. That’s why he’s not there.

  14. RachelWatson'sthong Says:

Monte has resigned from his college post. BRING MONTE HOME GLAZER BOYZ!!

  15. Orlandobucfan Says:

I really would loved monte to come to the reunion I think especially with our pass defense now and recent defenses he would get the biggest ovation.

  16. Orlandobucfan Says:

The king comments are histaricle keep them coming. He is the most negative commentator there is. The bucs win by 50-3 he would say we looked weak we have up three points.

  17. Patrick Says:

Hey why isn’t Raheem attending the reunion?? bhahahhaha!!

  18. Patrick Says:

The thing that will be most awkward about the reunion is Jon Gruden and Simeon Rice meeting once again. Remember when Rice ripped Gruden years ago and called him a scumbag?

  19. Joe Says:

Remember the Americas Game where Warren Sapp basically says Keyshawn was never really a part of the team. That’s why he’s not there.

    Yup.

John Lynch loathes Chucky. I mean detests him with a passion for how his days with the Bucs ended. There is no love lost between those two. But Lynch is a man who can put differences aside for something like this.

  21. Eric Says:

Amazingly lynch invited chucky to be the main speaker at his charity event in Denver just last year. Gave a nice intro and chucky gave a nice speech. Right there at Denver’s stadium.

Seemed to get along swimmingly well.

  22. Rrsrq Says:

Me thinks Butch Davis leaves the Bucs and Monte Kiffin takes that advising err coaching position

    @ dp4life22

    stay on topic, bro

  26. espo Says:

I must say I’m a little disappointed Meshawn won’t be here. Id like the entire team and staff, no matter what fallouts they ended up having.
