Giants 41, Bucs 34

September 16th, 2012

The pass rush failed and Bucs’ secondary was gashed and trashed to the tune of 510 yards. Tampa Bay aslo was carved up the gut in the running game.

Amazingly, the Bucs were gritty enough and physical enough to be in position to win the game in the fourth quarter.

Gut-wrenching stuff, for sure.

Joe is fuming that the Bucs didn’t run the ball down 27-16 late in the third quarter and came out throwing, which led to a Josh Freeman force and interception on the second play of that drive. The run was working. Why go Greg Olson?

The Bucs did a lot of good things, but not enough when it counted.

PFF is gonna tear Talib a new one in their ratings. He will definitely be on the “Worst of the Week” team.

  2. @eric Says:

Hope Talib gets medical attention ASAP, he was seriously BURNED, horrible, over rated, over rated. Haven’t we all seen this movie before, same old Bucs collapsing D when we needed them most.

Freeman looks way to timid and out of place.
    Let’s hope we rebound quickly.
Coach should’ve slapped o.d man Tom for that lecture at the end of the game.

  3. Drock9 Says:

    Get Blount back in there

  4. Have A Nice Day Says:

Pretty much nailed it. The timing of our run and pass plays were very suspect.

  5. Pruritus Ani Says:

Play calling was insanely conservative at times. I understand you gotta run the ball but it became too predictable.
600 + yards of total offense by the Giants is inexcusable.

  6. OptimisTroll Says:

This is on Schiano and Sullivan. It was last week catching back up with them. Sometimes, you have to do something other than run the clock after the first quarter. Sometimes you have to put the game away. Plus, not giving the quarterback enough plays to keep him in rythym so he can come back when he needs to. Plus, the defense probably shouldn’t have to play 40 minutes a game.

  7. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

Jimmy Johnson said a LOT of good things about the Bucs.

There’s our respect…from someone who traditionally has not had anything good to say about us.

Man I hope we beat his Cowgirls, lol.

  8. BigMacAttack Says:

That sucks. Talib, McDonald, what can you say. Refs sucked missed face mask and hit on jackson. Coughlin is a dick.

  9. st. louis Bucs fan Says:

way too conservative on offense at the end of the 3rd and begining of the 4th. only good thing to take away from this is we can score points. Def was too tired cuz the offense couldnt sustain a drive. oh well lets go Bucs. BUC IT IM OUT!!!

  10. Have A Nice Day Says:

I can’t help but imagine what the outcome of the game may have been had Mike Williams held onto that pass. Woe is me.

  11. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    OptimisTroll

I think you nailed it. Our Defense was exhausted by forth quarter.

  12. Jonny 3.3 Says:

I do not mind throwing even when we had a lead Joe. It was only 3rd quarter. Good offenses pass until its almost certain they have a W. What wasn’t good was Freeman throwing the INT. Bad decision, but overall he had a decent game. Has to be consistent for all 4 quarters.

  13. Vico Says:

24 points in one quarter! Really? the first three were quite OK thanks to turnovers, but Eli had over 200 yards already at half time. Anyway it was a very thrilling game. Hope they had ruled that Wiliams’ play a catch.

  14. Kryq Says:

We should of won this game, forcing to many throws. also our defensive back didnt play well Talib looked like a rookie out there.

  15. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

On that last Williams pass…I thought if a WR maintains control and takes two steps it means a reception? It looked to me like it came loose on his third step.

Am I wrong about the rule?

  16. BraveBuc Says:

Wow, defensive playing calling lost this game. How could he not see the blitz was not working? Is this defense a one trick pony?

  17. grif4foozball Says:

talib sucks he cant handle the big receivers.

  18. espo Says:

This was a measuring stick. Hell, it was the measuring stick. It tells us what we already know: we’re not there yet. We’re much improved, and hella fun to watch, but need to put it all together.

  19. Have A Nice Day Says:

@Pete Don’t forget they have to make a “football move”.

  20. RastaMon Says:

out of the last 11 loses……this game is the easiest to endure……it was passing clinc conducted by Eli…..timing…routes….timing routes….

    .

lol, I knew we would see comments like this after a loss here. The Giants and Cowboys are the two toughest teams we play this year. The simple face that it was such a close game this week shows that the other teams have a LOT to worry about.

    It’s a new Buc Day.

  23. grif4foozball Says:

oh your right ,the so-called refs seemed to be giant biased. Pete Dutcher

  24. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    @Have A Nice Day

What would have been considered a football move in a situation like that? (sorry, my brain is numb)

  25. bucyea Says:

Tailb had a total MELTDOWN, and Freeman does not make decisions quickly enough and has the deer-in-the-headlights WAY to often. Yes the play-calling was questionable and we need to see more of Blount.

  26. BraveBuc Says:

We leave Talib on an island all day long without getting pressure and it’s all his fault??????!!!!!!!!!

  27. JerseyBucsfan Says:

We went wayy too many rushers andit just wasn’t working. Makes no sense at all and why does the playcalling in the 2nd half swich too playing scared..smh

  28. BraveBuc Says:

    Bucs fans really are retarded.

  29. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

Does anyone remember what I said before the Panthers game? I said teams with new head coaches tend to have trouble finishing games at first. It’s usually fixed in 3-4 games.

  30. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Game would’ve been easily won if the Bucs played to win instead of playing not to lose in the second half. It’s as simple as that. What horrible offensive philosophy with a lead.

  31. Scott Says:

Where was Blount? I. Thought he was good to go? I thought a little change of pace from him in the 3rd and 4th might of have helped.

  32. Eric Says:

Talib may have played one of the worst games in league history. Man that part was ugly. He looked slow and he wasn’t even cheating well. I’ve been a Talib fan but that was embarrassing.

    Otherwise gritty performances.

Greg had them ready to compete for sure. Dang shame not to be able to convert those blunders into a win.

  33. bucyea Says:

Yea, dont see how the Williams catch was not a catch. Were plenty of questionable calls, although I agree with the hit on Jackson was legal, as long as they are consistant, that’s my issue, no consitancy. Talib was holding ALL game.

  34. Sgt Mike Says:

So we have 2 pwr runners and 2 situational scat back types and we can’t mix it up a bit to confuse the defense? Barber on deep man coverage, what? Blitz Barber and leave Wright in coverage. Freeman had a chance and blew it. Don’t get me started on the scrub ass refs but they made mistakes that went both ways all day so it wasn’t them specifically. Schiano, Sullivan and Sheridan share in the second half game plan debacle that lost a very winnable game for us. Freeman needs to get his shjt together or we may need to start looking. Tic-toc on Free. No more excuses!

    .

I agree. Reminds of the Dungy years, doesn’t it?

  36. ryan Says:

If youre going to try to milk the lead then you have to run the ball.

Dont get all the blitzing either. I know the D-line was non factor but the defense was bending and not breaking. Then the blitzes started and NYG started getting 20 yards a play like it was nothing. Then of course those big plays at the end.

    Oh well, keep plugging away.

  37. Buc Fan #237 Says:

Raheem’s team would have just gave up 41 and scored only 10.

  38. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I hate saying this, but we just got beat by a better team. That’s an elite QB, and he carved us up like an elite QB should. They just have better players, but not by much. However, even though we lost, we learned a lot about our team. We went into the backyard of the world champs with their back against the ropes and almost pulled one out. This should give us a lot of confidence next week against the Cowgirls. We just need to learn how to close these games out. At least we look like a professional football team out there, which is a huge improvement.

Love the altercation with Schiano and Coughlin. I don’t blame Coughlin for being mad, but I like the fact that we played until the final whistle. Coughlin will just have to get over it. Poor baby.

  39. Snook Says:

Schiano’s play not to lose strategy in the 3rd lost this game. Period. The Giants never stopped the Bucs when they were playing aggressive. And can we stop blitzing after it doesn’t work 30 times? What a joke. That’s probably why Coughlin was yelling at Schiano… “WHY DO YOU BLITZ ON EVERY PLAY IF IT DOESN’T WORK”.

  40. @eric Says:

Williams on that 3rd down play needs to worry about heading up field to get the first down and not dance around and hesitate with half moves, think first down Mike not BSPN highlight reel.
    Shoulda woulda coulda yep.

  41. grif4foozball Says:

freeman still looks very uncomfortable and indecisive.

  42. bucyea Says:

The only time I saw McCoy is when he was pushed 5 yards deep into the endzone, on the goaline run.

  43. FLBoyInDallas Says:

My biggest hope coming out of this game is that the Bucs will learn the lesson of NOT getting ultra conservative and trying to protect a lead, and then trying to air it out again after you’ve lost that lead. Stay aggressive!

  44. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Talib was defeated mentally by the second quarter. You could see it in his body language he wanted no part of Nicks. He was feeling the same thing we were all feeling – please Eli, don’t throw the ball to Nicks. Anyone else but Nicks.

  45. Vico Says:

@Pete I agree, last season was traumatic enough to keep complaining about the same things… Play calling was questionable, but it wasn’t crazy, you know, no Benn-ed around stuff, so I think as fans we should look at things differently. I mean they are the SB champs, not just any other team… at times, Freeman looks like Eli a few years ago, in the kinda shy and insecure way, but with some amazing drives with perfect throws. Not that Eli is a super QB, but he has two rings… So to me, it’s not crazy to be hopeful about this new season. Schiano is doing OK just thinking that it is only his second NFL game.

  46. Eric Says:

I agree Hawaiian, miles ahead of last year.

  47. Snook Says:

Beat by a better team? What? Are you kidding? They didn’t stop us all day. Until we shut down the offense. And Manning was ineffective unless we blitzed a safety.

Awful coaching in the 2nd half lost this game. Period.

  48. Matt Says:

wow…sick to my stomach right now

  49. Caleb Says:

    Talib is awful

  50. grif4foozball Says:

they seemed to pick upall of our blitzes, need a better scheme.

  51. js1506 Says:

Two games and I see we don’t make any adjustments during Halftime.. Key points: No pass rush, blitzing did nothing for us today (Leaving 36 Ronde Barber on a young agile Victor Cruz 1-1?????), Hakeem Nicks DESTROYED Talib (thank god they didn’t call the other 89 holds he had on Nicks), WAYYYYYYYYYYYY to conservative play calling by Sullivan (again!). Dallas Clark was playing all game and no catches until the 4th quarter? (Thank god he’s no Kellen Winslow).
On a positive note our O-line actually played OK considering our right side was all backups, Ahmad Black is playing very well as a backup Safety and Vincent Jackson is worth every penny! He clearly comes ready.
Overall very dissapointing lost but hey, the Giants are world champions and Eli Manning is a top 5 Qb and we (Bucs) are 1-1 and the season is still young. Go bucs all the way!

  52. Snook Says:

“My biggest hope coming out of this game is that the Bucs will learn the lesson of NOT getting ultra conservative and trying to protect a lead, and then trying to air it out again after you’ve lost that lead. Stay aggressive!”

    BINGO!!!!

Exactly. I was screaming at this team in the middle of the 3rd when they started the “Run on 1st, Run on 2nd, throw a short pass on 3rd” strategy.

The Bobby Bowden “play not to lose” method doesn’t work.

  53. Snook Says:

How many points have we scored in the 2nd half this year?

    THAT tells the story.

  54. OptimisTroll Says:

I’ll mark down a “W” next week against the cowboys. If Eli manning requires a near perfect half to get it done, I don’t think Tony Romo is up to it. Especially after Schiano and the Bucs learn during practice how to finish games. Every detail, including the score board. The game is only won when at 0:00 left in the FOURTH quarter, the Buc’s score > oppenent’s score.

  55. Panama city, Panama Loyal Bucs Fan! Says:

This lost was hard. It was clearly a tale of two halfs. The giants made their adjusments and we didn’t. We are still 1-1 and we have a long season ahead.

  56. Snook Says:

A “W” next week won’t happen with this conservative 2nd half crap.

  57. Pete 422 Says:

I’ll just say that that the fact the Bucs couldn’t run the ball in the second half is the thing that really hurt. The inability to run the ball to run clock, but who does that against the Giants. More help for Talib would have been nice also.

  58. Vico Says:

    @Snook Bobby Bowden… that’s harsh. LOL.

  59. Russ Says:

Eric Wright going down was a killer. This game reminds me ALOT of the game we lost on MFN to the other Manning. Brian Kelly goes down and Peyton lights up Tim Wansley. It was simply too much to expect McDonald to play on an island. As for the scheme, I’m not sure why they didn’t play a bit more Cover2. The pass-rush wasn’t getting there at all and yet Sheridan insisted on play a TON on man coverage w/little to no safety help over the top.

For the second week in a row Sullivan had his head up his rear in the 3rd quarter. The play selection was terrible for most of those 15 mins. I’m sure they don’t want Josh to run, but damn, there were a few times where stepping up and using his legs would’ve opened it up. Williams made up for his boneheaded spin-o-rama with a great TD catch. But all in all, you have to wonder where is the short passing game- and I’m not talking screens (since we’ve NEVER been able to run on effectively- save Dunn against Miami on Sunday night ’97). Where is Martin in space?

As much as we gave this game away, you have to admire the effort. This team is playing hard, but it’s clear there’s not enough quality on the roster to keep up with the big-boys. They lost a game many expected them to lose. Really, they snatch defeat, which is why it’s so tough to take this…BUT this isn’t last year’s team. Heck, think about how bad we looked the last time we played the G-men. We’re making progress and a loss like this, while painful, will teach these guys about playing 60 mins.

Now the O and D coordinators need to get to work and figure out how to limit Romo and not lose the game next week!

  60. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Snook,

They are the world champs if you didn’t know. So yes, a better team. I guarantee you anyone outside of the people in the insane asylum would agree. They have a top 5 QB in the NFL, we don’t. I love the Bucs, but come on! Manning was ineffective? Were you watching the game? He passed for 510 yards. We blitzed because we couldn’t get any pressure on him. You can’t let him sit back there and pick us apart.

We definitely got very conservative. I didn’t particularly like that either. But we lost the game because we couldn’t stop them in the fourth quarter. Period.

  61. Danny Says:

Good news: The Taints are 0-2. 🙂

  62. Vico Says:

@Panma, I know! isn’t anyone kinda happy we are at .500?

  63. lurker Says:

pete 422, that is why they needed to run other backs. give the opposing defense a pounding with blount.

  64. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

    Buc Fan #237

    That is true.

I for one am grateful. I expected a much worse showing than we saw, this early into Schiano’s first season.

We expect to see improvement from game to game.

    POSITIVES
Last week, the offense only scored one touchdown. Although their drives were long, we settled for field goals most of the time. This week, the offense scored more points and AGAIN we went into half time with the lead.

On defense, we saw many positives. They did good stopping the run last week, but it was against a bad team. This week we saw them play a Top 5 team, the Superbowl champs, and they got three picks and 6 points.

Barron hit someone out-of-bounds again…but the man is an absolute beast. I love the guy.

David was tops in the first half calling the plays. Foster is getting better each game.

Ronde is great as safety. He should never cover a wideout deep though, not at his age. Still, he looked awesome. I don’t know how he does it.

Finally, during the game adjustments were made. We have inexperienced coaches so it took a little while…but it was good effort and the offense almost turned it around at the end.

    NEGATIVES
Conservative football. I’ve never like it unless in the last 2 minutes with a good lead.

Talib is lucky the regular refs were not back, because he could have cost us over 100 yards in penalties today.

No Blount. I think he could have helped in the second half. The giants seemed to have figured out Martin by that point. Since Blount was a different kind of runner, hard hitting, I think he would have done better than Martin in the second half. Especially against a tired Giants defense.

Refs cost us this game…but then they also cost the Giants a lot as well. As I mentioned, Talib should have been called over and over, but they also had multiple bad calls on us and multiple no calls that would have helped us. I imagine the Giants feel the same way.

  65. Macabee Says:

I could not be more proud of the young Bucs against the Super Bowl champions. We have a couple of players who have lost a step (no need to call them out) and with a foray into FA and a good draft next year we are going to be a really good football team. Not making excuses, but to have as many injured players as we did, we held up fairly well. Depth is an obvious problem and it shows in the second half.

If we keep making progress and can limit the number of injuries, we are going to scare some better teams if not win some. The coaches are learning too. As time goes on I think they will be less conservative in the second half. I was impressed with the way we played coming from behind. Not there yet, but we’re coming. Patience is virtue!

  66. Vico Says:

@Russ man, let’s not mention that MNF game again. Makes me sick to remember it.

  67. SteveK Says:

Freeman needed to outplay Eli, he did for the first half.

Does he just lack focus? His picks are telegraphed.

Take that damn “C” off his chest and replace it with, “USPS”.

    #FREE THOMAS2.2

  68. Caleb Says:

I must of Watched a different game then everyone else. We got beat in every aspect of that game and not just by a little. Eli gave us 21 points on his 3 first half picks, other then that we got beat everywhere. No pass rush, secondary beat on nearly every play. offence that did almost nothing unless they were givin a short field. 3yds per carry for Martin… Jackson looked great. Other then that we looked just like 2011

  69. Snook Says:

The “moral victory” crowd is a bunch of losers.

This isn’t 2011. Its time to win now. Even your boy Schiano has said that.

Makes me sick we shut it down in 2 games already this year in the 2nd half. It doesn’t work. You have to stay agressive. ESPECIALLY on the road.

  70. SteveK Says:

    @ The Dutcher:

    “Refs lost us the game”.

With all respect, BS. Williams didn’t catch that ball late.

Why can’t Freeman lock in sooner? Is he a procrastinator or what?

  71. Buc Fan #237 Says:

    Eli wasnt’t effective ? @ Snook???

Eli threw for 500 damn yds and the bucs defensive backs couldnt keep up with him.

Eli beat the Bucs hands down.

The gifts we had in the first half (3 picks) was an opportunity where the defense squandered away in the 2nd half. The defense couldnt stop Eli. We just need a few more 3rd down stops and a few more 3rd down conversions.

But make NO mistake, Eli Manning shredded the Bucs defense and was extreamly effective.

  72. Buc_The_World Says:

You guys need to chill out, You act like we lost to the oakland raiders. This was the defending superbowl champs and we damn near beat them at home. Hakeem Nicks is a beast so is Victor Cruz. They have done this to many good teams. The defense is good they were just tired. Freeman is ok he is still growing, 3 years of subpar coaching is not fixed in 1 offseason. My problem if anything is the conservative play calling. We played not to lose the game instead of playing to win, which lead to 3 and outs, the defense getting tired, the crowd getting involved, break downs in the secondary and us losing the game. The good thing is we went toe to toe with a heavyweight and lost. Ever seen Rocky? It was a fight, the team predicted to win won, but it was a fight. Two games ago people thought we were one of the worst teams in the NFL now the have to take us seriously. Trust me I guarantee the giants dont want to see us again anytime soon they know they barely made it out of that game with a win. And thank you Mr. Coughlin for making sure we will be talked about all week.

  73. Snook Says:

Hawaiian – the only time he picked us apart was when we BLITZED. Other than that, all Manning did was throw short passes. All of his big plays were on plays where we blitzed. It didn’t work all game.

I’m starting to see where the criticism of Schiano’s game management comes from.

I take no positives from this game. Freeman looked 2011ish unless we were playing aggressive. When the green light was on for the offense, he looked comfortable and solid.

We almost gave the game away last week against Carolina for this same crap. Its unacceptable.

  74. Vico Says:

@Caleb in 3 quarters the bucs had more points than in any 2011 game. 27.

  75. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Caleb

We looked nothing like the Bucs of 2011. That’s a huge exaggeration. The Bucs of 2011 would have given up 300 yards rushing…… by halftime.

  76. Snook Says:

I could throw for 500 yards against one-on-one coverage with no safety or pass rush in my face.

Eli didn’t win this game today.

The Bucs coaching staff lost it.

If you don’t know that, you’re a Raheem.

  77. lurker Says:

pete, it was not a hit out-of-bounds last week. you are wrong, admit it! otherwise, let it go.

  78. Hawaiian Buc Says:

You are absolutely crazy Snook. That’s ridiculous, he killed us when we didn’t blitz too.

  79. BUCTIME Says:

This was a great game for us eventhough we lost. For those who say that Freeman looked timid out there, they are blind. Freeman played very well. He made deep passes down field, made checks at the line, and did an excellent job with little time left on the clock to score.
    GET OFF FREEEMAN CASE!!
Overall, we played extremely well (except for Talib). Eli Manning is just one tough QB to go against.

    GO BUCS!!!

  80. Snook Says:

This defense looked EXACTLY like the Bucs of 2011. What are you talking about? They gave up 41 points and 604 yards!!!!

    Are you retarded?

  81. SteveK Says:

Who would have thought that Freeman was outplayed by Tannehill today?

Lol, Tampa is long overdue for a game changing QB.

I fear Freeman parts ways in two years, and then becomes elite.

    Was 2010 a fluke?

  82. Snook Says:

I’m crazy, Hawaiian? You just said this wasn’t the 2011 Bucs.

Did the 2011 Bucs give up 604 yards in ONE GAME?

    WAKE UP!

This wasn’t a great game. Geez. You people are pathetic.

  83. SilenceTheCritics Says:

its only 1 loss and was a great game all the way down to the end. We’ll get better. Obviously we have somethings to work on.

  84. BUCTIME Says:

I think the main reason we lost was becuz of the conservative play calls.

  85. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

SteveK, I wasn’t addressing the Williams incompletion.

    Caleb Says:
    September 16th, 2012 at 5:06 pm

I must of Watched a different game then everyone else.

    .

    Clearly you did.

Look…we have a new offense, a new defense, a bunch of rookies on defense, a rookie offensive coordinator, etc.

How anyone did not expect it to take some games to get things right is beyond me. I figured we would lose this game and next weeks game (would love to be wrong), resulting in another blackout, but that we would start winning against the Skins and go into the bye 2-2.

That would be good enough for me, because the Giants and Cowboys are the toughest we face.

After the bye, we’ll be a tougher team to beat and will get harder each week.

  86. Caleb Says:

The game was not near as close as the score might of indicated. Lets hope next week goes better or that the Cowboys try and give us the game like Eli did in the first half

  87. lurker Says:

ccordinators need to improve. freeman worked within the system. he did what was called.

    .

LOL! In MY mind it was 😛

  89. SteveK Says:

    @ Snook,

Our D was gassed and raped in the 2nd half.

Maybe if the O could sustain a drive, then we would’ve had a chance.

Next week we gotta hit the cowgirls in the mouth and dont let up.

  90. BUCTIME Says:

We may have given up a lot of yards but you could not tell by the score. We held Eli to field goals many times in the red zone.

WE ARE NOT THE 2011 BUCS!!!

STOP CRYING WITH THIS “WOE IS ME” ATTITUDE.

  91. SteveK Says:

In my anger of this loss, I realize it is a priviledge to be angry about a late loss.

So many times last year we were done by halftime.

We let one get away today.

  92. Vico Says:

I agree defense was horrible. 600 yards is not at all acceptable. But i must say it looks more of a scheme and play calling problem rather than an attitude problem like last year. Last year we were just giving games away. Anyone remember that embarassing Candlestick game? Defense was horrible today, but more like out-coached but not careless.

  93. Buc Fan #237 Says:

Eli Manning, future hall of famer, 2 time Super Bowl MVP shredded us and we still had a chance to win the game with the 3 mistakes he made in the first half.

Snookie is too dense to even understand this.

Snookie, the year the Bucs went 10-6 with Raheem, 9 of the wins came against 3rd rate QBs.

But, the Bucs do need to address their weeknesses because it is all on film now.

  94. lurker Says:

steve, i agree. it sucks losing. but we are fans, i believe the players and coaches hate it more. this is a different team than last year.

  95. lurker Says:

pete, does your wife always let you think your right, too?

  96. lurker Says:

damn, rg3 looking good again. we have the redskins after the cowboys.

  97. lurker Says:

i do like how we scored on all 3 turnovers, and not just fieldgoals!

  98. Gus Says:

@buc fan 227 Fact! And am I the only one who say holding calls ALL DAY LONG. Along with the fact that Mike Williams caught the ball at the end. This would have changed the dynamic of the game late!

  99. Vico Says:

Damn RG3! he’s playing better than luck. And Luck is plying great for rookie. This defense is going to be so good by the end of the year playing against all this QBs just starting the season… Newton, Eli, Romo, RG3. OK maybe not Romo, but how about the others?

  100. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Snook,

Wipe your tears crybaby. We are all upset we lost. We gave up a ton of yards, but until the 4th, we were up 2 TD’s. WE didn’t finish, period. There’s no defending that. However, we were competitive, and we looked like a professional football team. People like you are everything that is wrong with fans. You b!tch and moan as if you were some pro football coach or player. You sit on your little laptop and play coach, but you have absolutely no clue about the nuances of the game (and admittedly, neither do I). Drink a beer and relax buddy, 14 more to go.

  101. BamBamBuc Says:

I’m glad some of you are finally coming around to what I’ve been saying the past couple years… Talib is NOT a top corner in the league, not even CLOSE! He can’t win one-on-one matchups without holding. He requires help over the top as he bites on play-fakes and pump-fakes too often. He got handled today by a WR that wasn’t even fully healthy. His INTs in past years were only due to him jumping routes, which teams have neutralized with double moves… burning him deep numerous times.

I can accept Barber “guessing” on a first down route as opposed to a deep route and getting beat (especially when he’s a Safety now and doesn’t have the speed to keep up in single coverage). I can even accept McDonald getting beat a couple times (as he’s a #4 CB at best and wasn’t even on the initial 53 man roster), because he at least made a play on his INT. Talib is supposed to be our “shut-down” corner and the only thing he shut down was his coverage when he realized he couldn’t contain Nicks.

On another note, the Bucs ran Blount ZERO times today. Maybe it was concern over the “stinger” he reportedly has, but when you’re leading by 14, your #1 RB isn’t having much luck (20 for 66 yds, 0 receptions), the team should be pounding the one guy that has had success in past years bruising defenses.

  102. Snook Says:

Can’t find “moral victory” on any stats sheets anywhere…..

  103. Snook Says:

So I’m a crybaby because I don’t make excuses for a coaching staff that plays not to lose”

This isn’t the 2011 Bucs. The 2011 Bucs didn’t have Carl Nicks. Or Vincent Jackson. Or Mark Barron. Or Doug Martin. Stop making excuses, Hawaiian. You’re a fool.

Sorry I’m not happy with a loss that was easily a win if our team didn’t sit on its hands with 8 minutes left in the 3rd.

  104. Snook Says:

“but until the 4th, we were up 2 TD’s”

This proves you’re an idiot, Hawaiian.

I have no clue of the nuances of the game? What is so hard to comprehend about this team SITTING on leads in the 2nd half? They did it last week and did it again this week.

How many points have they scored in the 2nd half this year compared to the 1st? Answer that. Please.

  105. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Am I making any excuses? Am I happy we lost? Am I defending the coaching? You need to chill out, because you are making a complete arse out of yourself.

  106. Buc Fan #237 Says:

Snookie, are you that gal troll over on bucschat dot com?

  107. lurker Says:

snook, stop watchin the games, man. you dog can’t take all the kicking!

  108. mikeck Says:

Holy crap….relax. we took the defending champs down to the wire at their house….freeman looked good and made some great throws. Last one to williams should have been a carch…perfect strike.

Newsflash!!!! We are not as good as the giants…we didnt think we were. So what?? We are a good team ans on our way. Dont freakin overreact.

  109. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Back when I was in middle school, we used to say “take a chill pill”. That phrase seems very appropriate right now for poor Snook. He needs to eat some hemp with Miguel Grande.

  110. Mike J Says:

st. louis Bucs fan and pruritus (what a monniker!), I tend to agree. Unlike Joe, I think there was too much running the ball, esp. between the tackles. It looked to me like the deep ”go” route was there all day.Why did they forget the pass to the FB? Where were the bootlegs? Why no Clark until so late?

  111. Miguel Grande Says:

Sounds like half the Amen Chorus has gone over to the dark side.

I just had an epiphany, is the Little General a smoker? During halftime is he outside the locker room having a smoke or even two? He talks about halftime being a time to take a leak, have a cold drink and a snack. Why can’t you coach them up with a drink in one hand and a hot dog in the other?

While the Giants coaches spent the halftime dissecting the Bucs defensive scheme and made adjustments to counter the safety blitzes by throwing to where the safety vacated, Schiano was puffing on a Marlboro outside. That would explain it.

Anybody see #93 today? Did he miss the plane?

I can’t wait to see another camera angle of the Coughlin-Schiano dust up, would like to see the look on Schiano’s face.

  112. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Whatever Miguel, you are even more predictable than Thomas. Winning the second half is easier said than done, which is why the better teams normally win games. As for #93, he was double teamed nearly all day, and even triple teamed on a drive late in the game. He still needs to beat those, but don’t understand why you would single him out. Clayborn amazingly never gets any heat, and he was invisible today too.

  113. BucFan20 Says:

Nothing new. Offense can’t keep a drive going to keep Eli off the field. I don’t know what game some of you watched but Martin went 2 maybe 3 yards. A lot of times nowhere. Superman was not running like Brown was. So our defense was on the field how long? Look at time of possession. On 1 3rd and 1 the lane was wide open but guess who would not run? But then again coach does not want him to get hurt. To win games against good teams it will take offense to keep drives alive too. Not just defense.

  114. Miguel Grande Says:

    @Hawaiian

Rewind to the play where Wright made his interception. McCoy took that play off and then refused to even block anyone. Clayborn blocked all the way into the endzone. Dini makes 3 to 4 times more than Clayborn.

I saw Clayborn knock Eli on his ass. GMC never laid a hand on him. The one time McCoy was mentioned, the announcer said, “They’re using his aggressiveness against him.” ie Taking himself out of the play.

GMC was in for 76 plays and he made 2 plays. One tackle and one QB pressure. He missed a tackle and took 4 plays off. His batting average would get Karlos Pena sent down to AA ball. 2-76 this week 5-48 last week. Pena ‘s hitting about 190 where Dini is 057. Good grief!

I really don’t want to watch this nightmare again just to follow Clayborn and prove you wrong again.

    Free Thomas 2.2

  115. Architek Says:

Guys there is no moral victory in football but for 3 quarters we played well enough to win. Talib is not elite, DLine is void of elite talent, and we are still learning how to win consistently. I am proud that we didnt stop swinging with the champs.

  116. Deminion Says:

I watched the whole gm good job bucs still
growing together freeman looked good except tht int there was Alota blitzes but it’s apart of the gm played Alota 1-1 D that’s cool but not every play or LB core did good the DB were asked to do a lot the D line played very poor…. Too conservative u gotta play to win overall go bucs!!!

  117. Hawaiian Buc Says:

GMC knocked Eli down too dummy. They both got one QB hit. Neither had a good game. Pay has no bearing on that, and it’s silly to think otherwise unless your last name is Glazer. GMC was constantly double teamed, which again is no excuse, as he has to beat double teams. But it’s not fair to single him out, but that’s exactly what I expect from you. The entire front 4 needs to improve, or we won’t win many games.

  118. Miguel Grande Says:

At the end of this season, the Bucs will approach Dini and his agent with an ultimatum. They will tear up his existing contract and offer him $2 million per year. They will toss the stat sheet on the desk in front of them, they won’t even glance at it. They know that he was getting paid for 16 sacks a year and he’s delivering 16 tackles a year.

I predict he will sign with the Bears for $2.1 million. For some crazy reason they lust after Buc DL rejects and failures.

  119. lurker Says:

maybe you can go to chicago too as a buc’s fan reject and failure.

  120. ShutTheBucUp Says:

I liked what I saw today up until the 4th quarter. I found myself smiling even though the Giants were taking a knee to close out the game. A few plane crashes and were in the playoffs! 🙂

When you want to get mad about today’s loss, just think back to our final game against Atlanta last season. Yeah, even a close loss feels damn good compared to that!
