Can Bucs Make It Four In A Row?

September 8th, 2012

“We just had bad luck, Olie. A mental midget could see that.”

Those who analyzed Bucs’ preseason games couldn’t come up with much. Why? Because the Bucs didn’t reveal much. No team does.

But one thing appared to be clarified.

In three starts by the first-team Bucs, there were no slow starts. None. The heinous preparation and motivation of the Raheem Morris era that led to an endless stream of first-half failures vanished.

Somehow, the New Schiano Order found a way to have the team ready from the opening whistle. Imagine.

Frankly, Joe is extremely eager to see the Bucs make it four in a row tomorrow in the home-opener against Carolina. There’s absolutely no reason the Bucs should come out flat and lifeless.

Joe will be furious if they can’t play come out playing physical football after sitting on a 10-game losing streak for eight months, and with a new taskmaster coach up their ass.

    Finally football is here.. very excited to see what our bucs can do tomorrow against a tough Panthers team that has a very talented offense.. and they have improved there defense. Should be interesting. @Joe.. You predicted what you thought our record was going to be this year, if you had to predict a winner and a final score for tomorrow what would it be?

  4. BamBamBuc Says:

    Um, Yes?!? There’s not doubt they “can” make 4 fast starts in a row. The question is “will” they? Even if by some fluke, they get off to a fast start it means they “can”. Can GMC stay healthy this season? Sure, he can curl up in a fetal position on the ground at the snap on every play, and I’m betting he “can” stay healthy. Question is… “Will” he stay healthy while playing hard?

    Also, I don’t understand all this Panther hype… What makes everyone think they’re so talented? Cam Newton? He’s played one year in the NFL (and a very good year it was), but that’s not even close to being a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady that’s been doing it year in and year out for a long time. Cam may be a flop this year, and even if he isn’t, they only won 6 games last year, so it’s not like they were really all that good then. Their defense was pitiful (though not as bad as ours) and they really only added a rookie LB and lost a couple vet LBs. Steve Smith is another year older and seems to get hurt most seasons. The running game wasn’t as dominant last year from the RBs, and only Cam kept them productive rushing. So, we have a 4 win team from last year (Bucs) vs a 6 win team from last year (Panthers), both of whom have made some improvements to their teams (although I’d say Nicks and VJax are better than any additions the Panthers made) and we’re all being talked down as if we got worse and they’re Super Bowl contenders??? I don’t get it.

    @BamBam

    Agreed! This is a fresh start to a new season… anybody has a chance of winning this game. 2 bad teams and we have the home field advantage… hopefully anyways. I’m excited and think we have as good a shot at winning our home season and home opener as anyone does this weekend.

  6. Miguel Grande Says:

    Miguel just hopes they don’t make it 11 straight.

    The Panthers added Kuechley who is a baller on defense and Tolbert a RB who will make everyone forget their previous backs.

    They improved their special teams.

    Grande believes the hype had something to do with Cam Newton setting several all time NFL records.

  7. Drew Says:

    Team of Dreams… win and they will come and fill the stadium.

  8. Miguel Grande Says:

    Scouting report: Matt Barkley throws 2 1st half TD passes. 13 and 29 yards. Looking Good.

  9. Orlandobucfan Says:

    @drew
    Completely agree bucs start winning and the stadium will start filling up. Remember at one point there was a gigantic wait list for tickets I know the economy sucks but the stadium will fill maybe just not with a wait list.

  10. bucobruce Says:

    One day away till the new bucs start their dynasty in the next 5 to 7 years the bucs will win 3 super bowls.HA HA most people say, but just watch they are right now a dangerous mystery team with tons of talent know one is going to want to see come playoff time.Once Shiano is here for a few more years and gets the people he wants and need thats when we will be Superbowl bound. Tampaaaaa Baaaaay

  11. Adam Says:

    Remember: Raheem wouldn’t do anything different.

    Dunce.

  12. Eric Says:

    The next Chuck Noll a dunce?

  13. Macabee Says:

    Scouting Report: Matt Barkley just threw a pick 6. Not looking so good!

  14. Jbrooks8604 Says:

    Hey Miguel are you nuts? You want to draft a USC qb? Why don’t we just draft a big 12 qb while we are at it.

  15. Ladyz Says:

    Eric, Rasta and Grande , you guys never disapoint! If you dont like the Bucs , why not just go away? Your bad mouthing shows to much about you. Don’t go away mad-

  16. Miguel Grande Says:

    Scouting report: Matt Barkley 7 TD passes. Looking good!!

    I think we did draft a Big 12 QB…..oops!

  17. Macabee Says:

    After Palmer, Leinart, and Sanchez, no GM in his right mind is going to draft a QB out of USC!

  18. Miguel Grande Says:

    @LadyZ

    In response to Joe’s question, “Can the Bucs make it 4 in a row?” Miguel said, “Miguel just hopes they don’t make it 11 straight.”

    How did you construe that as not liking the Bucs? Miguel hopes they win.

    RastaMon Says:

    “Hey…McCoy…it is going to Hot !….keep your mouth shut !”

    How is that not liking the Bucs? I challenge you to explain what he said. I believe he is just reminding his favorite player to breathe through his nose because of the heat.

    Eric is probably the most intelligent poster we have and the most concise in his biting sarcasm?

    How can you say that’s not liking the Bucs? Did Seinfeld not like NYC, because of his jokes?

    In an interview Joe vehemently stated that he never tells fans what to think. There is room for all on this site as long as you follow simple rules.

  19. Mike J Says:

    Eric, I don’t get it.

  20. Eric Says:

    @mike

    Many folks on here opined thar Rah could be the next Chuck Noll, cause they started with similar records.

    I take a bit of pleasure reminding folks of that given that I vehemently disagreed with the assertion at the time. I must admit it drove me nuts.

    Some of my posts are a bit dated.

  21. Mavsmoney Says:

    I think a lot of scribes will change their tune after this game.

  22. HolyMoly Says:

    I would like to see The Bucs come out and Bitch slap newton and the panthers . Both games last year were butt whipping’s and would be nice to get some payback !

  23. Bobby Says:

    @Eric….nobody said Rah was going to be the next Chuck Noll, they just stated that Noll started out badly too so you can’t judge a young coach on his first year’s record. On the other hand, you were vehement about Schiano being a bad choice when he was picked as head coach and made jokes about the Rucganeers, etc. Kind of changing your tune now aren’t you?

  24. 76buc76 Says:

    Just keep it close.Newton was great last year but he struggled in the clutch.Eventhough Freeman had a bad year he is proven in the clutch and his clutch stat’s back that up.
