LeGarrette Blount Speaks
August 11th, 2012Joe chatted with LeGarrette Blount after the Bucs took care of business in Miami last night. Here are Blount’s comments:
On the opening touchdown drive: Everything went really well that whole drive. Everything was blocked the way we planned it. You gotta have pride, and you gotta have the will and feel like no one can stop you [running] four times in a row. That’s the will that our guys have.
On the Bucs rushing four times inside the 10 yard line: That’s the way we’re going to be. That’s definitely what we’re going to do. We’re going to run the football inside. That was definitely a statement that I guess is going to be known around the league.
On Doug Martin: “We can definitely be the best duo in the league,” Blount said of himself and Martin. “With the schemes that we’re running and with the offensive line that we have. You know, with the blocking, you know, with the complement he is to me and the complement I am to him, we definitely have the potential to be the best backfield in the league without a doubt.”
On changes to his running and body: I feel faster. I feel a lot quicker. I feel a lot lighter on my feet. … It definitely lets teams know you’re not one-dimensional. It makes you be able to do certain things in other areas. We’re going to be good. I’m definitely going to be the same type of back I’ve been in the league, though. It’s just the drills that Coach [Earnest] Byner has us doing. You know, the lifting and the running throughout practice as our conditioning. That’s what does it all. This is as strong as I’ve felt in my career.

It was a good game overall, but remember last year we shut out a hot up coming Chiefs then got beat down by the Patriots. I liked the running game and Freemans ability to spread the ball around in there first drive. Lots of penalties in the begining, but aside from that are starters on offense looks good.

I think joe may be right on this one, Blount looked excellent IMO.
Seemed way more into it and determined. As did the rest of the team.
Perhaps the fire under the rear end was what the Dr. Ordered for Blount.

He looked very nice catching that pass from the wide out spot. I actually had to do a double take when I realized it was him, especially because he is much leaner now. Having 2 starting caliber RB’s – what a great problem to have!

Hey Joe, Blount said this to you, right? On NFL.com they have the same quote about being the best Tandem in the league but they link to an article by Stephen Holder. That would have been awesome if they gave JBF the credit.

I really liked the way both backs played, very nice tandem. I also noticed on the Mike Williams catch & Run, Blount picked up the blitzing LB, who flipped in midair and landed on his arse, awesome blitz pick up for someone who can’t block. Doug also did the same on the long pass to Tiquan, but what I’d like to see the Buc’s do is go back in time and start Using the old pro set with two backs split in the backfield, can you imagine the defence trying to guess which back to focus on, Legarrett or Doug, I think it would be a huge success. Let them lead block for each other. That’s teamwork.

Straight up, his quote about complimenting Martin’s Skills and Martin Complimenting his is a huge sign of his maturity!
If both play to their powers i can also agree that Blount and Martin could end up being the best Duo in the NFL in the coming years!
This is nothing but good news.

Joe here,
@Have A Nice Day – Yes, all the quotes here are from Blount to Joe. Holder joined the conversation about half way in. NFL.com will quote the mainstream media sites far more often than they will Joe. And that’s no problem at all.

Did everyone notice how LB was carrying the ball? Just another reason we have the right coach.
