Arrelious Benn Could Be Ready For Panthers

August 29th, 2012

Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik appeared on tonight’s Bucs-Redskins broadcast through much of the fourth quarter and talked about all sorts of things on WTSP-TV, Channel 10

When pressed about the status of injured wide receiver Arrelious Benn, Dominik gushed that there is much progress with Benn’s condition. In fact, Dominik said Benn will practice next week and went so far as to suggest Benn may be a game-time decision for the Bucs season-opener at home against Carolina.

Yes, Benn will be practicing, but Joe has to wonder just how effective Benn can be missing virtually all of training camp and preseason. In the NFL, the passing game is largely built on timing. Just what timing has Benn been able to build with quarterback Josh Freeman in a brand new offense?

    CAN HE BLOCK? LOL

I like underwood he makes plays and works hard. I think he can be our third receiver behind Williams and Jackson. Benn has a lot to prove to be on the field permanently.

  3. Macabee Says:

There is an implication here regarding Benn’s possible availability that I’m not getting. So when he returns, that means……………?

He will be in a Bucs uniform.

I heard it all too. Also the part about being on the phones with other teams about teams talking trades and also who may become available. Could that have been just a smoke screen? Also glad to hear Fremanis being evaluated this year now that he has his toys.

As secretive as shiano is benn probably has been working with freeman after practice.. please stop this underwood hype…. I don’t think he makes the team great camp story but he isn’t better than parker or Shipley

  7. MadMax Says:

Underwood will make the cut….I have no doubt.

  8. BucFan20 Says:

Your only good if you can stay on the field.

  9. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

I could have sworn Dominick said they wanted to keep a true fullback too.

3rd wr spot will be either Parker or Benn…most likely Benn (though Parker might get it in the first 2 games).

Who needs timing for the Benn’d around? First play of the season…lmao

  11. Patrick Says:

I just hope Benn’s presence doesn’t keep someone like Underwood off the roster….because he’s played well this preseason and earned it. Stroughter has been a key asset for our special teams too. Parker was a solid 3rd down receiver for us last year.

Benn hasn’t done anything except get injured……like the whole first half of our 2010 picks. Just saying.

He BETTER damn well be ready for the Panthers live up to his draft status.
