Charges Dropped For Eric Wright

July 13th, 2012

And just like that Eric Wright’s arrest for felony drunk driving has disappeared.

ProFootballTalk.com has a statement from Wright’s attorney that says the District Attorney in Los Angeles has reviewed the facts of last week’s arrest and dismissed the case.

“On July 1, my client Eric Wright was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles and was arrested for suspicion of DUI,” lawyer Jeremy I. Lessem said in a statement released Friday by the team. “Today, I am pleased to announce that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has reviewed the facts and decided not to file any charges. Therefore, no charges at all will be filed against Eric. Eric is glad this is behind him and is eager to begin training camp at the end of the month.”

What sweet music for the Bucs and Bucs fans.

  7. Steve From Oregon Says:

Let me be the first to admit I was wrong is saying throw the book at him Bucs to make an example.

    This is great news!

  8. Bulldog Says:

Oar , well said ! lmao

  9. Orlandobucsfan Says:

This is good news since brees has now signed a 5 year contract with the saints we need all the corner help we can get.

  10. Have A Nice Day Says:

I wonder if he is still gonna have his license suspended for refusing the breath test.

  11. Stevek Says:

    Bucs are 2-0 baby!

    (in the courtroom)

  12. GenocideD Says:

    HAND,
Who cares if his license is suspended. With his fortune he could pay a guy $50k/year to drive him around and keep him out of predicaments like this. lol

  13. OAR Says:

    lol…….nothing funny about someone drowning.

  14. DallasBuc Says:

This prevents Schiano from having to lay down the gauntlet and decide what kind of example to make of wright. Looks like dominik also dodged a bullet not having to face all the scrutiny this was bringing down on him. I must admit that I don’t know anything about this guy as a player but I certainly hope he is worth the investment and roster spot. I am skeptical based on all the negatives I’ve heard

  15. Have A Nice Day Says:

@Genocide That is what I was hinting at. If he doesn’t have a license, he’ll be forced to have someone else drive him around. No more worries of possible DUIs lol

  16. Snook Says:

Wonder how much money that cost him……

  17. aj Says:

From what I heard it was a weak case, maybe they were too overzealous on the original arrest. He was arrested for injuring someone in an accident while under the influence, but the guy in the other vehicle said he was not hurt and refused medical attention. It was another thing that was blown up too quickly in the beginning.

  18. The Dutcher Journal (Pete Dutcher) Says:

Hard to prove injury without medical records, and Eric claimed to have been drinking…during daylight hours. Long enough before that the effect would have mostly worn off.

I’m glad some of us did not judge him.

  19. st. louis Bucs fan Says:

im glad it worked out, most of us have had a few drinks and had driven before and if you havent then your better than most. this guy had a few drinks and was HONEST in saying he had been drinking. he made a mistake and the case was weak. but thats the past and can we PLEASE stop with the negativity. BUC IT IM OUT!!!!!

  20. Bobby Says:

Wow…..a little different than last week when everyone was ready to cut him. Maybe this will be a lesson for everyone who is so quick to judge before all the facts are in.

  21. 941Buc Says:

We needed this! Hopefully if no one else gets arrested or hurt, then I think we will win our share of games. Can’t be any wore that last user.

  22. patrickbucs Says:

Great news, lets see what this guy can do on the filed. We desperately need him to be a good corner along with Talib on the other side.

  23. BigMacAttack Says:

This is excellent news. I don’t care about the circumstances, just that it is over. And quickly.

    Movin On.

  24. Oregano Says:

There are two layers of justice in this country, one for the richest 1% and one for the rest.

  25. BucFan20 Says:

Just another to thumb his nose at law enforcement and the justice system and get away with it. No tests, No case.

  26. Karl Says:

Some of you fans are a trip.First you want to kick him off the team. Now you think he paid to get off.Well he was tested after he was arrested and he had zero alcohol in his system that’s why they dropped the case. The cops asked him if he was drinking today and he was honest and said yeah, earlier today i drank.A Lot of people lie about how much they drank and the cops arrested him for suspicion of DUI for not taking a breathalyzer test at the seen. Not every rich person is guilty and only got off because they paid money.
