Keith Tandy Just Might Be A Safety
April 28th, 2012You know it’s getting late in the draft when there is scant information about a drafted player. That’s the case with Keith Tandy, a cornerback from West Virginia.
It may be that Tandy could be converted to a safety, but he fits the mold of the New Schiano Order in that he is a versatile player. What he may lack in skills as a cornerback suggest he could play safety, in a breakdown of Tandy found on CBSSports.com.
Positives: Best fit is in a zone scheme and lacks the vertical speed to shadow elite receivers. Keeps the ball and man in front of him in zone and might be a candidate to convert to safety. Thickly built for a corner and closes with intent, chasing laterally and is effective bringing down bigger targets.
Since Tandy played in the Big East, obviously Schiano knows this guy. Perhaps he sees or knows something about Tandy few others do? That’s Joe’s hope.

Dude doesn’t have a big enough helmet does he?
Looks like The Great Gazoo.

Converting to safety is a possibility.

This has nothing to do with Tandy. But I cannot believe Marvin McNutt has not been drafted yet. Been what 25+ WRs taken an not McNutt. Crazy to me. Maybe I’m just an Iowa homer but he’s better than some of these people taken. I like our WRs but I wouldn’t mind takin him in the 7th.

He can also play linebacker.

Haha I guess all I had to do was say something on here and he got drafted. My bad Marvin, I guess I shoulda said something sooner.

No way he moves to LB, he’s 5’10” 199 lbs. He hits like one though. He also played QB in high school. He’s either going to FS or fighting for playing time at nickel back. I have no doubt he’s already our best tackler at CB besides Ronde, or we wouldn’t have taken him.

Alfonso Denard CB Nebraska C’mon he’s worth the risk #106 overall ranked prospect, big upside CB definite NFL starter potential. Yes he has off the field issues but it’s only a 7th round pick, he’s absolutely worth a flier pick!

We already have one CB awaiting trial, don’t know if we need another one.

you might have to bail him out of jail for punching a cop…

He didn’t just play QB in high school, looks like he was a PROLIFIC QB in High School:
“Tandy’s size and physicality hides the fact he is one of the more successful passers in KENTUCKY HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY (8,609 career passing yards, 90 touchdowns).”

I love the idea of an ex-QB-DB playing chess with an offense.

It makes me luke Schiano even more that he seems unwilling to import low character idiots to my hometown. Like it or not they set an example for our kids and have lots of extra income to choose what to do with.
April 28th, 2012 at 5:31 pm
Like, not luke. Dang phone.
April 28th, 2012 at 5:34 pm
how bout a fullback here folks? that would be nice
April 28th, 2012 at 5:36 pm
Our new kick returner?
April 28th, 2012 at 5:39 pm
RB Michael Smith is a Caddy clone apparently. Good blocker, rocket speed, fantastic leap…small frame.
April 28th, 2012 at 5:43 pm
Isn’t that the big headed little guy from the Jetsons?
April 28th, 2012 at 5:50 pm
even at db he could headbutt through opposing olines
April 28th, 2012 at 5:55 pm
I could see Schiano sliding Tandy to safety. Did anyone else catch Larry Asante’s tweet a few minutes ago? Is he getting cut?

I like how Keith hits, and that we are bringing in several hitters/tacklers. We need to establish that as our culture, make players WANT to sign onto the Bucs way.
But damn, that picture of Tandy reminds of Dark Helmet.
