“This Kid Is Going 4, 5 or 6”

March 27th, 2012
Highly-respected NFL Draft guru Mike Mayock is gushing over Trent Richardson following recent intensive film study. Mayock says the Bucs can’t pass on the Alabama RB.

Here’s one for those who want the Bucs to pull the trigger on Trent Richardson. And while Joe doesn’t fall into that category, Joe admits the following now has Joe squirming in his chair just a little.

The premier draft guru in the nation, Mike Mayock of NFL Network, has now reversed course on Richardson after intensive film study on the top running back in the draft. Previously, Mayock, a former NFL safety, didn’t have Richardson in his top-5. Via ProFootballTalk.com, Mayock is now pounding the drum for the Bucs to grab the Alabama RB.

“Boy was I wrong,” Mayock said of suggesting Richardson might get out of the Top 10. “He’s going in the Top 10. Let’s face it, if the two quarterbacks [Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III] go 1-2, and the Vikings are not in the market for a tailback at No. 3 because of Adrian Peterson, this kid is going 4, 5 or 6. He’s the best tailback I’ve seen come out since the aforementioned Adrian Peterson. He brings toughness, he brings speed, he brings pass protection.”

Mayock said that if the Browns pass on Richardson at No. 4, he can’t see why the Bucs would pass on him at No. 5. Mayock said Richardson running behind the Buccaneers’ offensive line in Greg Schiano’s offense could have a big impact as a rookie.

“Trent Richardson might be the best position player in this draft,” Mayock said. “I watched 150 of his carries today. I watched every catch he made on tape today. . . . I watched every pass protection I could find in about a 10-game span, and he might be the best pass-protecting running back in this draft also. So when you talk about toughness and perhaps the best positional player in the entire draft, I think if he is available at No. 5, with that offensive line, they’ve got to pull the trigger.

While the Bucs can get good, complementary running backs for LeGarrette Blount in the draft and via free agency, Joe can’t be certain rockstar general manager Mark Dominik isn’t having the same assessments as Mayock and doesn’t want to be known as the guy that passed on Trent Richardson.

Then there’s Greg Schiano’s repeatedly stated commitment to the running game. Joe even had a chance last week to have a cozy, off-the-record chat with Schiano and the head coach was eager to further define that commitment at Joe’s request.

Maybe the Bucs will draft Richardson? If nothing else, Mayock’s high-profile and likely accurate grading of Richardson is sure to drive up interest in possible draft-day trade offers to the Bucs for the No. 5 pick — if Richardson is still on the board.

I just joined the Draft Richardson with the 5th pick wagon a couple of days ago. We have to be good at something, and that is why we draft Trent if he is still available.

  2. BigMacAttack Says:

Talk about a ringing endorsement. If the Bucs were to draft Richardson or Blackmon, both make them a better team offensively and both appear to be game changers on the NFL level. As much as I dislike the Dirty Birds, Michael Turner is a game changer for them, and they wouldn’t be half the offense without him, as evidenced by when he’s been hurt. If the Bucs draft Richardson, I won’t be unhappy, followed by okay, hmmm, and then total excitement.

  3. BigMacAttack Says:

Josh Freeman needs good protection to be effective on 3’rd down. It would also make me happy if they got Cadi back. And BTW I dislike ATL, but despise Carolgina and absolutely Hate the Saints.

  4. bhall8541 Says:

Ok, so if we grab Richardson, who are the cornerbacks sitting at 4 in the second round?

  5. Snook Says:

If the Bucs stay at #5 and TR is there, there’s NO WAY he isn’t drafted by Schiano and Co.

  6. bucbelevr Says:

Anyone know the date when Trent will work out for teams, scouts? Since he couldn’t on Alabama pro day, with his knee surgery. Date??..

  7. Snook Says:

They didn’t build a big fancy Offensive Line for nothing, Joe.

  8. Snook Says:

    DRAFT HIM!!!!

  9. BonesMahoney Says:

I’m gonna say the same thing I’ve said all along. If Trent Richardson is there and they feel he is the BPA then they need to take him. There may be positions that are bigger needs for us, but you don’t pass on an elite talent because of need. Our running game would be amazing with him, Blount and that O-line. Which would make Freeman and the passing game even better. Both of those together = our defense not being on the field so often. I love the sound of all that.

  10. Eric Says:

I like the pass protection assessment.

Sounds like a Schiano type guy to me. I hope and believe he has more pull than Rah in terms of drafting, being that he comes from the college ranks and ought to know.

And the DB coach from LSU is on our staff.

He should know the skill set of both Richardson and Claibourne.

  12. K2theSoldier Says:

This is so ridiculous. Draft T Rich and CONTINUE to ignore our pressing needs on defense. Our defense is TERRIBLE! Do you Richardson fan boys realize it’s impossible to run the ball when you’re down 20 points? This is such a stupid debate, people only want Richardson for the excitment factor, not because he’ll help us win.

Morris Claiborne over Richardson and it isn’t even close to being Richardson. Stupid debate.

  13. TheTaylorPrice Says:

His proday is going to be the 29th. Along with Mark Barron and Courtney Upshaw. A day for Tampa to keep and eye on seeing we could us all 3 of them. The Draft is going to be exciting and nerve racking

  14. K2theSoldier Says:

I can’t believe people would select Richardson over Claiborne at 5, especially knowing that Talib’s trial is AFTER the draft. So what happens if Talib is found guilty and we didn’t draft a corner in the first round? We have Eric freaking Wright defending #1 receivers?
“Oh we’ll just draft a corner in the 2nd round!”
No you freaking won’t, because we have a glaring need at outside linebacker that needs to be addressed in the 2nd round. So now what? I’m supposed to believe that you take a good running back and ignore all your glaring needs on defense? It’s a very, very good thing that some of you people aren’t GMs. Dominik is bad enough, I can’t imagine what it’d be with Richardson drafters.

  15. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Richardson is closer to a sure thing than anyone else in the draft. Barring injury, there is no way this guy is not an elite RB. He can do it all, and he can do it all very well. How can you pass up on that? I know we need help at CB, but unless he’s Deion Sanders, there is no way Claiborne has as much impact as Richardson. Even if his career is shorter as a result of his position, why do we care about 8 years down the road??? We will cross that bridge when the time comes. Besides, if you know anything about TR’s strength and work ethic, he will very likely be one of those backs that can have a long career. I highly suggest all the doubters go and watch his tape. There is no way in hell you wouldn’t love having that guy wearing a Bucs uniform.

  16. Snook Says:

The Bucs need to draft him just to eliminate the haters from blaming Dom for passing on him after he becomes a star….

“Can’t believe Dom passed on Trent Richardson in 2012 to draft that bust Morris Claibourne.”

  17. Snook Says:

“Do you Richardson fan boys realize it’s impossible to run the ball when you’re down 20 points? This is such a stupid debate, people only want Richardson for the excitment factor, not because he’ll help us win.”

    ———————-

Do you realize it makes things easier on the defense when your offense can actually MOVE THE BALL? Richardson makes this offense instantly better. Claibourne makes an impact but not a #5 pick type impact.

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @K2,
It all depends on your draft philosophy. Do you take the best player available, or do you take the position of need. I obviously believe you take the best available, you obviously go the other way. That’s totally fine, but it is debatable. If it weren’t, virtually all experts wouldn’t suggest we draft Richardson (literally every a

nalyst on NFL Network agrees). We also need major help on offense too. We don’t have another RB! Everyone makes as if it’s so easy to just pick up a great RB late in the draft, but it’s simply not true. Look at the previous drafts – there are an incredible amount of busts in rounds 3-7. Also, there is a pretty low bust rate coming out of the first round. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

  19. BigMacAttack Says:

There is an extremely high probability that Claiborne is off the board at 3 or 4 before the Bucs pick. There is scuttlebutt that the Vikqueens are very high on Claiborne. Cleveland also needs a running back and could select Richardson if they don’t trade down with Miami or someone else that needs a QB. Any of the top 5 players in the draft make the Bucs a better team excluding the 2 QB’s who will surely go 1 & 2.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Kalil would also solidify the line for a long time at RT now and LT later.

  21. BigMacAttack Says:

One thing I agree with Joe on is that Mike Mayock knows his $#!t. He definitely puts in the work and gets a lot of calls correct come draft day. I enjoy listening to him more so than any other draft analyst.

  22. BonesMahoney Says:

So many things annoy me about people that are against the team drafting a specific player, especially in the 1st round this high. In this case it is Richardson. Do people not realize that teams that draft for need more than likely always end up picking high every year? Why? Because they pass on great players to get alright players at positions of need THAT YEAR instead of looking further down the road.

Do you think Lions fans are upset now that they took Calvin Johnson #2 overall in 2007 even though they took WRs in the 1st round in 03, 04 and 05? I know they had far bigger needs than WR that year. Hell I remember Lions fans wanting Gaines Adams because DE was a bigger need. My how their future would have been different had they went that route. What about the Vikings with Peterson that same year? They had Chester Taylor coming off a 1200 yard season but they stuck to their board and took the best player available. On the other side of that, teams like the Raiders, Cardinals and Bucs took inferior players that year because they were more of a need.

Trent Richardson is an elite talent that the Bucs would be foolish to pass over. I would say the same thing if somehow Kalil fell down to us too. Both of those 2 are the top non Quarterbacks in this draft and will be great players for a long time. Will Claiborne be good? Sure, but to come back to my point, you don’t pass on elite level players for pretty good players. Especially with a team devoid of any kind of elite level talent.

  23. stevek Says:

    K@ Soldier,

Draft Richardson in the 1st, and then spend the rest of the draft on D.

Schiano and the coaching staff are going to make a killing in the UDFA pool.

    Trent Richardson > Morris Claibourne.

The addition of Trent Richardson makes our offense “ELITE”.

  24. stevek Says:

    Claibourne, Richardson, or Kalil.

One of them will be sitting in the green room at the time of the #5 pick, and we need to pick Richardson.

  25. Fear The Glow Says:

I like Mayock the most of all the draft talking heads but every time I see any of them say anything about a player I can’t stop wondering how much that players agent paid them to talk up player A or talk down player B. You know it has to happen.

  26. stevek Says:

    @ Bones Mahoney,

    Well spoken, sir.

    And @ Snook,

You are dead on the money. If DOM passes on T-Rich, then I am moving the “Fireland campaign” to outside One Buc Place.

  27. Matty "Ice" Ryan Says:

Oh, Yeah!!! Tampa Bay! Draft a RB!
You don’t need a CB! You have a great secondary!!

  28. Drew "cool" Brees Says:

    Great choice- RB! Genius!!
    Adrdresses the biggest need

  29. Matty"Ice" Ryan Says:

Best direction to go! Draft a RB!
The secondary is a “Team Strength”
I don’t think we need to add anyone to the secondary!! It’s good to go!
    Really like the LBers, Too!!

  30. Brain Says:

Richardson would be a great pick…if Kuechly weren’t available.

  31. deminion Says:

    Elite CB= 10yrs+

elite HB = wear down after 5 yrs

    RB’s are a dime a dozen

shutdown corners every once in awhile

u cn make a RB u cnt make a shutdown db

  32. Cam" panther" Cameron Says:

    T-Rich!!
Then a Rt in the second, and a WR in the 3rd!!
All that great Defense needs is good Coaching!
    Really:)

  33. deminion Says:

    @Snook

“Do you Richardson fan boys realize it’s impossible to run the ball when you’re down 20 points? This is such a stupid debate, people only want Richardson for the excitment factor, not because he’ll help us win.”

Im with Claiborne at 5 plz

  34. bucfanjeff Says:

I’ve been beating this drum for a while.
    If he’s available at 5, I still believe he’s a Buc.
Browns are the only real wild card here.

  35. BucFan20 Says:

All these college players he is so great against, just where are they expected to be drafted? Still comes down to the same thing. Draft is a Crap Shoot.

  36. Bobby Says:

BPA works both ways. Claiborne is the BPA on the defensive side of the ball. Get him at #5 if he’s there. He will be an elite corner.

  37. K2theSoldier Says:

You take care of your most glaring need with the acquisition of an elite player to fit that need in the first round. That’s cornerback, and that’s Morris Claiborne. Some people are acting as if we’re passing up on an elite talent in T Rich for some scrub. Uhhhh, no. Morris Claiborne is a very, very good cornerback. We need a cornerback, especially if Talib is found guilty.

Then in the 2nd round you take an outside linebacker. In the 3rd and later rounds you can look for a BACKUP running back, a COMPLIMENT to Blount. Because that’s what we need. A guy to come in for Blount. Not a starting runningback.

You want a team that NEEDS a runningback? The team in front of us, the Browns. The Bucs need help fixing one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

  38. K2theSoldier Says:

Here’s what it comes down to.

    Best defensive player available: Claiborne
Best offensive player available: T Rich

What do the Bucs need most? Defensive help. So the pick is a no-brainer. The best defensive player available! Where’s the fallacy in logic there?

  39. Aceofaerospace Says:

I will never forgive Ray Perkins for passing on Emmitt Smith.

  40. Capt. Tim Says:

    K2- spot on!

  41. David Says:

I still say it is too high for a RB.
IF they do take him though, they better get Kirkpatrick or Jenkins or one of the other real good CBs in round 2.

Personally, I would rather have them get Claiborne and then grab a RB in round 2… only time will tell.

  42. Sensiblebuc Says:

    @K2

“Trent Richardson might be the best position player in this draft,”

    -Mike Mayock

Take the best player available. Is Claiborne (a guy who’s been a corner for all of 3-4 years) that much better than Steph Gilmore or Dennard?

As the President of the T-Rich Fan Club it’s always been my position that we should make our offense elite and then build the defense slowly. Elite offense and a pass rush is all you need to win in this League due to all the rules favoring offenses. T-Rich should be the pick.

  43. stevek Says:

    @ K2, Bobby, and Capt. Tim 2.2,

    Best Player Available @ # 5…

Richardson > Claibourne, all day every day.

  44. bucoooobruceAlstott Says:

    The best d-fence is a great running game.Draft t-rich.

  45. Noleriff Says:

I’m a firm believer in BPA and not drafting for need unless it’s GLARING. That being said, CB is a GLARING need ESPECIALLY since we don’t know if Talib’s gonna be playin the next few years for the “Cons” or not. While I wouldn’t cry if they take Richardson…Janoris Jenkins and Alfonzo Dennard will be there at our 2nd round pick……to be honest I think they make people think they want Richardson (by not denying it) and force a move down grabbing a second 2nd round pick…. then take Kuechly in the 1st …one of the corners with the first pick in the second…then the second 2nd round pick will be either David Wilson, Doug Martin, Lamar Miller or LaMichael James…this way your 3rd round pick can be just about anything you think might be another need or take a flyer on depth…

  46. Tye Says:

If TR is still there at #5 and the Bucs pass on him, I can foresee the Bucs having Mega regrets in the near future…. TR has impressed in HS, College (in the SEC of all places) and has as good of a chance as anyone to be impressive at the pro level.

I am NOT a believer In freeman and wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t around much longer BUT with a player like TR to hand the ball off to, The team wouldn’t have to rely on Freeman to win and therefore He could be kept around longer….. With a strong running attack, the Bucs could limit Freeman’s passes in a game so that he wouldn’t look as horrible as he has been.

  47. SilenceTheCritics Says:

Here’s what it comes down to.

    Best defensive player available: Claiborne
Best offensive player available: T Rich

What do the Bucs need most? Defensive help. So the pick is a no-brainer. The best defensive player available! Where’s the fallacy in logic there?
    ——————————
The fallacy in that logic is that its not logic at all… its your opinion and nothing more… You have no idea who the better player will be in the NFL… you can only give your opinion just like the rest of us… I on the other hand think Richardson will be the better pro and will also have more of an impact as a rookie than a CB would

  48. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

If our sub par DLine could generate some pressure we wouldn’t be having this discussion

  49. K2theSoldier Says:

@SilenceTheCritics, it’s not an opinion that cornerback is a bigger need than runningback. That’s as much a fact as the sky being blue.

The T Rich folks keep saying “T Rich will be the better pro”, that’s not what we’re talking about! We’re talking about the better fit for the Buccaneers and what fits their most glaring need; DEFENSE.
The best defense for a bad defense isn’t a runningback, it’s DRAFTING DEFENSE! DUH! I KNOW T Rich is gonna be a beast of a running back. But Claiborne is going to be a beast of a cornerback and will also fit an actual need. Starting runningback isn’t an actual need. Blount can start week 1 and we’ll be fine. If Talib is suspended and we have EJ Biggers and Eric Wright covering great receivers we won’t be fine.

This conversation is irrelevant anyways, the Browns will take Richardson to fill the ACTUAL need they have at running back.

  50. K2theSoldier Says:

And yes, SensibleBuc, Claiborne IS that much better. That’s why he’s the consensus #1 corner and Gilmore/Denard are behind he, Kirkpatrick and Jenkins in terms of ability.

  51. Captain Stagger Says:

It’s all a crap shoot…but that being said, Claiborne is a very good prospect, but I wouldn’t call him elite…..Richardson on the other hand…..

  52. Capt. Tim Says:

Ok, I’ll try to make this as simple as possible, because some of you are – wow- pretty confused!
    Things the team has
1)all pro left tackle- check-don’t need Kalill!
    2) great RB, difference maker, 5 yard average- Check!, don’t need another one
    3) cornerback – nooo- uh oh- better get one
    4) Middle line backer- nooo- uh oh- better get one
    5) outside linebacker- noooo- better get one

Ok – let’s review! We have a LT and a good RB- yay!
We do NOT have a CB or LBers- uh oh
So we will draft=come on, try real hard- you can do it( well, probably not SteveK)

We lost 12 games last year, many by 30 points or more, because
    A) it’s Blounts Fault !!
    B) we have the worst back 7 on defense, in the entire league!
    C) commissioner wouldn’t let Talib bring his gun on the field
    D) it’s All Obama’s fault!

    Answer- B -yay!
    And we fix this by
    A) drafting a RB. B) drafting a CB
    B again ,Yay!!!

So, on draft day , with a team fulla holes,we
    A) draft what we already had. Let them take turns riding pine!
No better way to spend a top 5 pick, than to play him half the time!
    B) draft a Cb, no offense can score as fast as our lousy defense can hand out TDs!

    Again- B!

For the Richardson contingent- please read and rerelease- until you get smarter!

The boy ain’t normal. Imagine having a complete back. I will not cry if we draft him, though my brain says Claiborne.

  55. Jonny 3.3 Says:

“madness is like gravity, all it takes is a little push”
    – Joker, The Dark Knight

Trent Richardson is the gravity Joe and Mayock has pushed you a little into liking him. By the time of draft, you will be as big of a Trent fan as some of us are.

  56. jLM Says:

    Cleveland could easily grab TR.

  57. SilenceTheCritics Says:

Saying Claiborne is the best D player in the draft is your opinion. Your saying we need to draft him because we NEED a CB. I dont agree with that whatsoever. I think we need to draft whoever will help this team the most. An elite rookie corner on a bad D or a elite RB who could possibly push the offense over the top?… I would go with the RB. We have a defensive minded coach and plenty of other draft picks to help out the D along with the rest of free agency. Yes we have Blount and so far he is not great but good. What happens if he goes down? Exactly we need somebody who can step in for him and to be honest Richardson I believe would be our starter over him anyways at some point. We’ll see what happens… none of our opnions matter anyways, only ones that do count are at OBP, I’ll be happy with whoever we get..personally though im rooting for Richardson

  58. Hawaiian Buc Says:

You know Captain, it’s okay for us to disagree. It doesn’t make us stupid because we want Richardson. You aren’t anymore of a GM than I am. I completely respect your opinion that you think we should draft Claiborne. I don’t think it would be a bad pick at all, and I will probably be one of the first to run out and spend a ridiculous amount of money on his jersey which I’ll almost never wear (I have like 10 jerseys, which I wear only during the season on Sundays). However, drafting Richardson would also be a very good pick in my opinion. I don’t trust Blount to carry the load all by himself. That’s not as much of a knock on him as the reality of the NFL these days. He’s a bruising back that takes a ton of hits (it often takes 4 guys to bring him down), and he leaves his feet quite often (usually works well, didn’t work out so well in SF). Richardson not only adds a tremendous amount to the running game, he also adds a ton to the passing game in both catching passes out of the backfield and pass protection. Although I’m sure Blount can improve in those areas, he’s probably never going to be great at it. Not to mention TR is a great short yardage back, and he almost never fumbles. There are no weaknesses to his game. There is a tremendous drop off in talent between him and every other back in the draft. He even has great character and work ethic, which I know you like.

  59. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Obviously our defense is a long way away from being good. However, if we keep going 3 and out like we did last year, even a great defense is going to struggle. Everyone forgets how terrible our offense was in the first half of every game last year. If we picked up one first down on a series it was a success. If we can control the clock and keep our defense fresh, they will be better (albeit still pretty crappy without some help).

  60. Adrian_TB Says:

If Morris Claiborne is gone before our pick at five then I say get Richardson.
First choice: Claiborne, Second choice : Richardson, Third: Kali maybe even Kuechly

  61. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Good news is, no matter who we pick, we should get a very very good player. At least we better hope so.

  62. Stevek Says:

    @ K2 Soldier,

    Erroneous!!!

I want the best damn player picked by the Bucs at number 5. That’s exactly how it should and needs to down.

We can use FA to fill holes, but the draft is about taking the best player available at your pick.

We need “star power” on offense, and Trent Richardson is exactly what the Dr. ordered.

  63. Stevek Says:

Over 50% of Trent Richardson’s rushing yards are after contact.

I believe we can “pound the rock” all the way through the NFC South. Run it right down their throats about 35-40 plays a game with Richardson and Blount.

  64. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Capt. Tim,

I’m going to try to make this as simple as possible:

    1. Mike Mayock knows more about football than all of us combined

    2. He actually watches tape of the players, which you and I do not.

    3. Everyone on NFL Network knows more about football than all of us combined

    4. They actually watch tape of the players, which you and I do not

What do you know, they all say we should take Richardson. Maybe you should take your always right attitude to them and simplify things for them too, because apparently they just don’t get it either. You could be like the Skip Bayless of NFL Network.

  65. Jonny 3.3 Says:

@Hawaiian Buc. Trying to engage Capt. Dim in an intelligent debate? Good luck with that!

  66. mister V Says:

HB, you’re right on about blount,no offense intended, but he’s always going to be a 2nd tier rb,the same as brandon jacobs, just good and not get much better, because he has reached his ceiling. There’s good and there’s elite,I’d prefer elite because they change the game.Richardson will impact this team even more than v-jax could ever or any other offensive player on this roster. When you a chance to draft an impact player (that’s based on the teams draft boards)and they come every day then you have to draft them. Poor drafting and bad decision making have this team where it it is now, forget impulse buying draft the highest rated player that would be T-Rich.

    Stevek,

Blount led the NFL in yards after contact and broken tackles a year ago, so what’s your point?

  68. gotbbucs Says:

You have no idea if Blount has reached his ceiling. In two years, on a putrid team with no offseason to get coached up, he’s averaged 4.6 yards a carry. No offense intended, but you haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about.

Here’s my dream scenario. Morris Claiborne at #5, Luke Kuechly falls into the 20’s because honestly, non-pass rushing MLB’s nowadays carry about as much value as RB’s and I say that absolutely loving Kuechly. We trade next years #1 to move back into the 1st to grab him.

I want to get Kuechly on this team so badly, but #5 I think is too high for that position too, just like RB. Kuechly to me seems like the exact type a guy that Schiano would want in there, just listen to his interviews and listen to his coaches talk about him. Honestly, I want to get him way more than Claiborne, but the value just isn’t there.

I don’t think it’s a fact that Blount has reached his ceiling, but I think it’s a safe bet to say he’s never going to be a great pass-catcher or pass protector. The guy had 4 catches in his career at Oregon, so I don’t necessarily buy the notion that it was all coaching. He’s great at what he does, which is break tackles with a full head of steam, and he is deceptively faster than he looks. He does, however, struggle greatly with hitting the hole hard. Perhaps he can be coached up on that, but it’s probably more likely that’s just the type of runner he is. I just don’t think it’s a smart move to pass up on an elite talent, because of the “potential” of Blount. We don’t even know how much he can be trusted, as it is rumored he is often late to meetings and has poor work ethic (I have no idea if that is true or not). He really is one of my favorite players on the team (I love pounding the ball on people better than anything), but I don’t feel like he will ever be an elite NFL back, simply because he’s just not well-rounded enough.

  71. Capt. Tim Says:

Hawaiian( yawn) I’m sure that’s all verrry exciting! And I agree, Richardson is a very good player!
Now- go back, like it stated, and retread my post about ten more damn times!
We have a LT. We have a Rb-1000 yard rusher, as a matter of fact.
We do. Not. Have. A. Cb
We do not Have. A. MLB
We. Do. Not. Have. An. OLB

Okay- read that that over and over, until we all ” get it”

Now- do we draft something we already have, or something we don’t have??
    Atta boy!
Meybe you think giving up 40 points a game is ” winning Football!”
I am absolutely sure that you dont think it’s anybody’s fault!!!)
But personally, I m not gonna watch that garbage for 16 games!!
And neither is any intelligent fan.

  72. Capt. Tim Says:

Blount doesn’t need to be trusted.
He just needs to be handed the ball
If they really thought about a blocking Rb( which takes years to learn)
They wouldn’t have been so stupid, as to cut Cadi
Just because they did something that was Fu%^ing moronic, doesn’t mean I get stupid with them- and act like its somehow Blounts fault!
Dom screwed up , when he cut our 3rd down back!
It was yet another purely ignorant move!
I said so, and that it would throw us into a losing season- as soon as he did it!
Makes me the prophet, doesn’t it!

Psst! We hired LSU Secondary coach for a reason. I realize none of you” we want T-Richers” noticed, but we hired him to continue working with the NFLs newest star CB.

  73. RustyRhino Says:

    Trent Richardson’s stats
These stats look good, but only 1 season being the”man” and only 283 carries.. When Blount had only 184 carries for 781 yards last season. due to being behind because the D couldn’t get off on 3rd down.
SEASON ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD
    2011 283 1679 5.9 76 21 29 338 11.7 61 3
    2010 112 700 6.3 65 6 23 266 11.6 85 4
    2009 145 751 5.2 52 8 16 126 7.9 17 0

Hard to argue the Best at his position if you look at the length of his playing time. Don’t get me wrong we could all be mad as hell if we pass on him and who ever we take bombs and he skyrockets. But the draft is a crap shoot.
Fact is none of us know what he will be like in the NFL and as good as the SEC is, it is NOT the NFL. Where “everyone” is fast and they all hit a lot harder. He is a good looking RB prospect and we have a need for a RB to complement Blount. but is this the best reason for us to take him at #5?
Ultimately our decision will be decided on who is there for us @ #5 be that a RB CB T or a trade down to get more picks. time will tell what happens. I am very excited about the way the new staff is going about the business of bringing a top tier team to the Buccaneer Nation. We can all argue till we are blue in the face and we will only be winded…

  74. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    Captain,
You really do believe you are smarter than everyone else don’t you? I used to think you were just joking, but I’m now realizing you aren’t. We are all so blessed to have someone with such a wealth of knowledge on this board. I don’t even know why we post, because our opinions are completely ridiculous if we disagree with the almighty Captain.

  75. Buc_The_World Says:

Wow Capt. Tim, I wasn’t aware that it was this coaching staff that cut Cadi, that was the previous regime (with the exception of Dom). Which brings me to my next point, it has been confirmed that the past coaching staff was below average, so why are some fans so quick to write some of the players we have off when they were not coached properly to begin with. Ok back to the topic, I want the BPA, and if Richardson is there that would him. It’s a damn good idea, it shouldn’t have to be explained if you can’t the benefits of drafting and elite RB to go with another good RB to run behind a very good offensive line then you are just being narrow minded. Will I be mad if they draft claiborne no…I just want the team to be better. The defense has many holes the offense has few. why not fix the few holes and then you can concentrate on the many. I would rather have an elite offense and a so so defense than have an average offense and a so so defense.
