“They Need An Attitude”
February 24th, 2012Last year during the grotesque 10-game losing streak that resulted in Raheem Morris being jettisoned, the Bucs were simply horrible.
The team had virtually no offense; its best weapon was on the bench more than on the field and a junior varsity high school play was used game in and game out with zero results, as if that was some brainstorm of a play hatched in a laboratory at One Buc Palace.
The defense was no less than a sieve.
In this NFL Network video, former NFL executives Charley Casserly and Michael Lombardi discuss the hiring of Greg Schiano as the new Bucs coach.
Lombardi is of the mind that Schiano’s no-nonsense, tough, defensive-minded approach is exactly what the Bucs need.
“You watch this team on tape, they didn’t tackle anybody,” Lombardi said. “You could get a long run any time you wanted on them. They need an attitude. Greg Schiano is a tough guy.”

They need Ray Liotta

They need to never run an end-around for as long as I live.

Joe, they just needed a leader, they have friends.

I just listened to the presser Shiano gave at the combine… he said:
Bucs will play smart, fast and consistent
The Bucs HAVE been ready to spend and if the can find a player that might fit in FA then they might go out and get them…. but the bucs will build through the draft, develop and resign those players
I like the guy but man, those things sound familar….. I can’t place it….. where have i heard those things before????

There is nothing wrong with the Bucs plan for how to build a team. The fact that Schiano says the same things we’ve heard before is not a coincidence. The plan has always been to use free agency wisely to supplement the talent on the team.
Take a look around the league and name a consistent winning organization that doesn’t have essentially the same philosophy.

I agree. it’s all about leadership both on and off the field, prep work and game plan implementation. I don’t think we need to become the next dan snyder ownership plan, but we do need to develop the talent on the roster and bring in a few (meaning at least 3) solid free agents at key positions to make an immediate impact and get the ship right again!

Nothing wrong with the plan?
?
Are we consistently winning playoff games, without notifying the Buc Fans?
I thought we just finished a 4-12 season, and were getting our asses thumped for 40 + points a game!
Man! I’d hate to see what would happen if there was something wrong with ” the plan”

That’s right, nothing wrong with the plan.
What’s wrong has been the execution of the plan. BIG difference. They failed in the coaching area last year. They failed to have an accurate picture of the talent on their team, so they didn’t do much in free agency. They have failed to adequately improve the overall talent on the team… But that is a failure of execution…
Again, name another consistent winning organization in the NFL that doesn’t use essentially the same plan. Draft well, develop players, and supplement wisely in free agency. That plan is how you build a team and develop a winner over an extended period of time.
