Simple Explanation For The Blocks
February 12th, 2012Joe is beginning to think a good number of Bucs fans need professional counseling from the feedback he is getting on Twitter.
Nearly every move the Bucs make, many Bucs fans are convinced there’s some sort of underlying demonic reasoning or rationale. When the Bucs brought in Butch Davis, Bucs fans reacted like Tea Party members would if Mitt Romney hired Paul Bagala to run his presidential campaign.
So naturally, when Jim Harbaugh slammed the door shut on the fingers of Bucs rocks star general manager Mark Dominik yesterday after Dominik sought permission to interview 49ers secondary coach Ed Donatell, Bucs fans became even more irritated than before.
Calm down, says BSPN’s Chris Mortensen. He believes there is a very simple explanation for NFL teams during a cold shoulder to the Bucs in their quest to fill out a coaching staff.
@scottyplizair: why are so many teams denying Tampa Bay the chance interview there coaches?
@mortreport: To keep their own staffs from being raided
It’s as simple as that. Most NFL teams have their coaching staffs in place ready to roll for the upcoming glorified indoor track practice NFL combine.
Still, Joe has to wonder if some of this, innocent as it seems, is payback for Bruce Almighty pulling the same thing so many times when he was Chucky’s puppet Bucs general manager.

IMO its the price you pay for waiting so long to put your staff together. Why would another team want to go out and replace a coach this close to the combines, draft , Fa etc. They know it will be just as hard to find a quality replacement.

The actual explanation is as follows: People create and believe imaginary scenarios when they don’t know what is going on. They are angry and frustrated by this ignorance therefor their negative emotions form the base of these imaginary scenarios.

… NFL teams (during) turning a cold shoulder to the Bucs …

Please stop the sugar coating.

@advocre
Very deep holy one.
February 12th, 2012 at 11:38 am
@CC It was an actual explanation. I never said I didn’t do the exact same time to time. I just realize it and try not to. I do appreciate you thinking so highly of me but I am far from holy.
@passthebuc lol Nice.

@ advocare
Only kidding. Its Sunday morning. By the way I Like the Schiano hie and the staff he is putting together. My opinion is not ignorant or negative. Just an opinion. What is your opinion on the article?
February 12th, 2012 at 12:47 pm
Your opinion is the definition of ignorant unless you have experience with coaching searches. Ignorance is simply the lack of information. None of us have any real knowledge of the reasoning behind coaching blocks, so our opinions are from ignorance.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:53 pm
@CC I never said your opinion was ignorant or negative.
As far as the question “why are so many teams denying Tampa Bay the chance interview there coaches?”, I believe it is just the way some NFL teams works. They have the ability to prohibit interviews and they utilize it. I think it’s deplorable to forcefully hold another back from possible promotion, or least from gaining valuable interview skills and concrete feedback of one’s perceived value in the league, for personal gain. Like I said before, it seems some of the NFL bigwigs act like grown up children with virtually infinite money.

@CharlieB Exactly. Which is why though I may speculate but withhold from forming finite conjectures on such a matter.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:11 pm
@advocate
I agree
@Charlie
the definition of opinion is a belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substiated by positive knowledge or proof. Therefore my opinion is not ignorant.

Bruce Allen a puppet and Mark Dom a rock star- yeah that makes a lot of sense. Might as well call Kenyatta Walker technically sound a Paul Gruber unreliable.
Since we are apparently on opposite day – lets call GMC not injury-prone and Pig Penn skinny.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Lol
February 12th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
If only Joe could fully blame Jon and Brucefor this.
Oh what a wonderful world it would be.
February 12th, 2012 at 3:26 pm
Exactly, blame Jon and Bruce while creating an excuse for pop star. I just can’t believe that Joe would call a man the caliber of Allen a puppet and one the caliber of Dom a rock star.
Allen has such conviction that he gave up his job in protest of the Glazers decision to take the payroll down further in 09. When things got hot in 2011 Dom hid under his desk while sending text messages to the Glazers blaming rahrah rahrah (which wasnt difficult).
I find the jab at Allen delisional in comparison to Dom’s career of futility – never had a team in the playoffs, never drafted a single pro bowler and never finished above second to last.
February 12th, 2012 at 6:28 pm
No Joe, Mort is wrong. These assistants are getting blocked because the Glazers are cheap and won’t spend on coaches or free agents.
/sarcasm
February 13th, 2012 at 5:47 am
The Glazers took too long to pick a head coach. That’s the problem. 24 days that search took. Far too long.

“These assistants are getting blocked because the Glazers are cheap and won’t spend on coaches or free agents.”
So, what you’re saying is that these wonderful, beneficial, and all around good guy, owners are protecting their assistants from making their own career decisions and signing with those Evil, Nasty, Cheap Glaazers. Just cause the Glazers are cheap & not at all cause they want to keep their own talent at home. Makes all the sense in the world.
