“We Don’t Like Losing”

January 2nd, 2012

Joel Glazer stood before the media today and repeated that the Bucs will have an exhaustive search for a head coach, leaving no stone unturned. The process of the search will begin immediately, Glazer said, but there’s “no timetable.”

Glazer said all he cares about is winning.

“We don’t like losing,” Glazer said. “Nobody likes losing less than us, I assure you. It’s not fun losing.”

Glazer refused to offer a preference for a type of new head coach, saying the Bucs will “keep an open mind.”

“We are not going to pigeon-hole our decision,” Glazer said. “There’s a lot of different good potential candidates out there.”

Pressed about fan reaction to a new coach and ticket sales, Glazer said selling tickets “is not the driver to a decision.”

Joe will have more through the day from One Buc Palace.

I just watched the press conference

  2. A REAL Bucs Fan Says:

I don’t see how anyone could not be encouraged by that presser.

Dominick even hinted that he would be willing to give up some power if it meant winning.

No more London games, so let put to rest the Bucs moving to London rumors.

  3. Travis Says:

hey Apple, heard any rumors from fixing peoples roofs?
    lol

  4. A REAL Bucs Fan Says:

Rock saying that with all the firings, the Glazers are going to have to move quickly.

  5. Cleggly Says:

    I like Jeff Fisher.

  6. A REAL Bucs Fan Says:

    Fisher is boring.

  7. JAS Says:

Good riddance. It was the most painful year ever to be a Bucs fan.

  8. BigMacAttack Says:

I liked what Joel had to say and he really didn’t dodge the issues. Cudos to the Local media for asking tough questions, that fans are asking, and not being politically correct while lobbing soft balls.

Dom made a good point about free agents last year and not having any real time before the season to fully evaluate them. I haven’t put it in that perspective before, and he is correct. Dom although still on staff as of today, I didn’t feel received a strong vote of confidence and the possibility of him still being relieved or demoted may exist as this all unfolds. Everyone is to blame, and I for one was as blind as they were to start the season. I was truly shocked at how quickly (seemingly overnight) this team went from winning, beating the Saints, to sucking. Forgot how to tackle, where to line up, what to do, what the plays were, snap count, timing routes, and Josh Freeman, as much as I like him TOTALLY SUCKED THIS YEAR. Olson is gone finally, and Josh needs to wake up.

Where’s the link to the press conference and why wasn’t it live on the NFL channel?!

  10. Wisconsin Bucs fan Says:

Did they fire all asst. coaches? If kept any, who and why?

  11. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Apple, if you could put a name to your prognostication it would add a hundred more times the credibility to your statements. Otherwise it all sounds like water cooler talk. Name the coach or I’m not buying.

  12. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

Tickets sales come with a winning team. Focusing on ticket sales is useless when the team is a loser. Glad they are taking this approach.

  13. 941-Bucs Says:

    WRONG!

Glazers you boys are a bunch of liars…. YOUR FATHER didn’t like losing and built a winning team. RIP Papa Glazer. You boys have ruined it ever since u guys took over! Get your heads out of Mann U’s arse and get the American football team back on track!

  14. Garv Says:

Yeah, let’s start with NO MORE LONDON “HOME” GAMES!
Then giving an experienced and successful previous HC, OC or DC the power to make decisions INCLUDING spending CAP money. I do NOT want to go Redskins on this but starting a rookie at MLB is going too far. I want a smart football guy who knows what he wants and can bring in the assistants and players he needs to succeed without interference.

Did I mention NO MORE LONDON “HOME” GAMES?

  15. White Tiger Says:

Right move – hated it for Raheem Morris, he seemed like an overall good guy – absolutely imperative that they keep Dom, the guy truly is a rockstar GM…

I’d prefer a “boring” Jeff Fisher to Mike Sherman…but who knows where the rabbit trail will take us…hopefully contacts have been made and interviews have been scheduled and the Glazers already have a “name” coach close to signing…we’re on a short timeframe.

  16. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Hey 941-Bucs…sorry to break the news to you, but Malcolm Glazer is still among the land of the living. Not sure why you’re bidding him to rest in peace. I’m sure he wouldn’t appreciate you burying him before he’s dead.

  17. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

It isn’t unheard of to start a rookie at Mike. Demeco Ryans did it with great results. Foster starting has little to do with the this seasons lack of defensive success.

  18. TheProsUseAdvoCare Says:

@FLBoy I wasn’t even going to respond on that. lol I was laughing at its hilarity.

  19. admin Says:

    Joe here,

@Wisconsin Bucs Fan — Joe reported earlier that the entire staff was canned.

  20. gotbbucs Says:

I don’t buy the line that they haven’t made any phone calls to perspective head coaches before today. If not, that’s very irresponsible.

  21. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

@FLBoyInDallas, I was not told the name of the new Tampa Head Coach because my customer didn’t know.
All he said he knew I posted. So far, Raheem is gone as soon as the season was over, just like he told me, and Mark Dominik was asked if he would give up control over Talent Procurement, and he basically said Yes.
This is all in accordance with what I was told, so far.
Mark Dominik will no longer have final say over talent acquisition, according to my source.
I expect the Bucs to “go through the motions” publicly of selecting a head coach, to make it look good. But I believe our new head coach has already been selected, with a handshake deal.
This is what I was told, and if I were at liberty to tell you WHO told me, you would listen too.
I did ask him who the new Tampa Head Coach was going to be, and he said that was “Top Secret”, and he was not told.

Honestly, I expected today’s events, the firing of Raheem, and the admission by Mark Dominik that he may have to give up control over talent procurement.
    I was not disappointed.

  22. 941-Bucs Says:

@FLBoyInDallas. I know he is still alive… The RIP was his position with the team. I got a little ahead of my self, and didn’t proof read before posting. It was a more heat of the moment post =)

  23. RejuvenatedBucsFan Says:

  24. bucNcrAzy Says:

  25. buccin cane Says:

now we can move on. JG made it clear we will spend money and no more effing games in London for the foreseeable future.

  26. Greg Says:

Does anyone have a link to the press conference they can post?

  27. buccin cane Says:
