“We Haven’t Played Smart All Year”

December 4th, 2011

We’ve all heard Raheem Morris’ core beliefs; the Bucs goal is to play “hard, fast, smart and consistent” at all times.

But the Bucs haven’t been consistent when it comes to playing hard and fast, though they never play “smart.” That’s not Joe talking. That’s Raheem speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network on WDAE-AM 620 after today’s blowout at the hands of the Panthers.

“We didn’t play smart today,” Raheem said. “We haven’t played smart all year.”

Sorry, but Joe can only pin a small fraction of unintelligent play Joe on the Bucs’ youth. The coaches’ messages just aren’t getting through.

There’s this crazy new idea spreading around the NFL nowadays…teams are now hiring men, calling them ‘head coaches’, and put them in charge of their organization in order to get their players to play smart. It produces mixed results, but it might be time to get one of them ‘head coaches’ down here in Tampa.

  2. tj Says:

A real man will admit he us not coaching well

  3. Rickster Says:

    BAAAHHhhAAAAAA!!
    Understatement of the year!!

  4. Tampa2 Says:

Can it be any more evident that we need a head Coach in here that knows what he is doing? Quips are funny, and talk is cheap! But facts are facts and Raheem & Crew need to go! Even Joe needs to admit that when Carolina goes through our Raheem Coached Defense like a hot knife through buttter changes have to be made. Big Changes!

  5. Chad Says:

    Fire Rah, Hire Jeff Fisher.

  6. knucknbuc Says:

Yea, Raheem you can say that again. This statement to me clearly says I dont know what to do anymore. Because I don’t even know where to start. I thought we were going to take a step back this year. But damn last place?

  7. below me Says:

    gotta go, gotta go!

  8. Leighroy Says:

Josh McDaneils could be available as an OC if the Rams clean house with Spags at the end of this year. He is in the same situation as Raheem.

  9. Garv Says:

The Bucs have played stupid all year, at least sine the freaking London “home” game the Glazers love to brag about so much.
It’s up to the players and coaches now up to them to keep this team together. ALL on them.
Awful game at the stadium today for what should have been a special day.

JJ played well enough considering and Bowers was special, really coming on. Mike Williams played well……..can’t think of anything else but YECH!!!

Four more game to decide the future of this team as we know it and it does not look good IMO.

  10. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Who can blame the players? Have you understood any of the messages that have come from this coach?

All he ever says is some idiotic version of “we need to play better, or execute better or stop them better.”

No s-it. But how specifically you baphoon? All this guy is is cliches.

  11. Hawaiian Buc Says:

In my opinion, this is the worst loss of the year. If Raheem gets fired, I think it will be a result of this game. The team is just not responding to him anymore. The Panthers came into our house and smacked us in the mouth. Our body language was awful from the first drive.

I know this is a major understatement, but it is clear we have regressed in virtually every aspect of the game. We just can’t do anything right. That falls on the head coach. Some major changes need to be made. If they don’t fire Raheem as a head coach, they better bring in two new coordinators. We better start dabbling in the dreaded free agency too. Otherwise, it’s just going to be more of the same. I don’t think we are an overly talented team, but we are a whole helluva lot better than this crap we are putting on the field now. Truly embarrassing.

  12. Cleggly Says:

    I like Jeff Fisher.

  13. BucfaninMI Says:

I also like Jeff Fisher. Marty ball don’t sound too bad either!

  14. Gavster Says:

I say keep Raheem for one more year see what happens. But fire olsen and force Raheem to hire
A DC and if he doesn’t want to. Then fire him.
And idk who to hire as a HC

  15. higher728 Says:

Hey Gavster, Why does Olsen deserve to be fired but Morris doesn’t? Why the double standard?

  16. toolman Says:

I guess it is time for a team name change. The name YUCKS has a two-fold meaning. First, they are a laughing stock…poor coaching and coddling too many players that play at half speed. Secondly, they are just plain terrible at every aspect of the game. The players are out there playing for a meager paycheck…not for pride or love of the game. I do hope this year’s free agents get an opportunity to play for real teams next year…and the rest ask to be traded to teams that are willing to spend money on coaches and quality ball players. Then the Tampa Bay Yucks can have another so-so season in 2012.

  17. Thomas 2.2.. Says:

Higher728: gavster is rah’s sister gavida Morris – they call her Gah. She wants to “see what happens if they keep her brother for another year” because he hasn’t achieved an 0-16 yet which will be quite possible if they keep him another year.

Interestingly, we are on a 6 game losing streak with 4 games left – if we lose them all which is probable we will end the year on a 10 game losing streak.

If we retain rah for 2012 and shoot for 0-16, we would tie our own NFL record of 26 straight losses. That is called “the silver lining” in case rah I’d retained.

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

If we lose 10 straight Thomas, I will lead the charge in a fire Raheem cause.

  19. eric Says:

well if they cant beat the jags who will they beat.

  20. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Eric,

Is FSU available on January 8? If so, I think we could beat them. Although we still won’t score an offensive TD, I think we could put up 30 on them (with Freeman, not JJ).

  21. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I meant to say we won’t score an offensive TD in the first quarter, but as I got to think about it, 10 FG’s from Barth also equals 30 points.
