Wake Up, Donald Penn
December 18th, 2011Joe loves Donald Penn, but he’s played a couple of bad games in a row and some of his postgame words to Tampa Tribune scribe eye-RAH! Kaufman were ridiculous.
Per the TBO.com Bucs Twitter feed, Kaufman shared this Penn quote:
@TBO_Buccaneers: Ira: More Donald Penn — “We’re such a better team than we’re showing. It’s a bump in the road. We’ll get things right in the offseason.”
No, Donald. The Bucs are not a better team than they’re showing. Your teammates have been embarrassed three weeks in a row when they’re supposed to be playing their best yungry football. Thankfully, tonight you broke a streak of 69 unanswered points scored against your team, but that doesn’t mean you’re good.
Bump in the road? More like a giant pothole.
Joe’s heard this kind of we’re-better-than-our-record mentality from Josh Freeman on his radio show and other Buccaneers. It’s like they’re in denial that they repeat the same mistakes repeatedly and have lost eight in a row.
Joe appreciates the Bucs that are willing to talk to the media during this epic slide, but at least call it what it is.

The 2008 Buccaneers…….the team and regime that we dismantled for this crap…..would kick this team’s a$$ totally. This team is worse than Gruden’s 2006 4-12 team…..far worse.

Oh, everyone calm down, its a mere blip in the road.
They are merely a good team impersonating a total disaster.

Just like Raheem says, you are what your record says you are.

This just in, Ware is the best pass rusher in the NFL.
Penn lost the battle for sure, and it looks even worse after those clunkers he had the last couple weeks, but dang. Faine and Trueblood SUCK OUT LOUD, and are assuredly way worse every game than Penn on his worst day.

So Penn the season ended today? There are no games left, no matter how horrible it is, to play this season?
He has quit. Two games left and he has quit.
Must be nice to spend your millions on pork chops and pancakes while people have spent hard earned money to watch you and your teammates quit.

It is startling when the only consistent solid play from our line starts to stumble. He wasn’t as bad as trueblood, but from what we have come to expect from Penn, it looked really really bad.

The Buc’s have been swallowed by a black hole from which light cannot escape. I still can only count a few members of the offensive and defensive squads that are worth keeping. The rest could not make it in Arena Football.
