Shaun King Talks About Raheem 2012, Chucky
December 30th, 2011Former Bucs quarterback and current WQYK-AM 1010 personality Shaun King talked all things Bucs on a national stage yesterday on NBCSports.com with ProFootballTalk.com guru Mike Florio.
King likely stunned a majority of Bucs fans saying he believes Team Glazer will bring back Raheem Morris in 2012. And King said “the correct thing to do” would be to “give him [a contract] extension.”
It’s a top-shelf interview that includes King’s always fascinating critique/criticism of Chucky.

“from everything im hearing it seems like they will bring raheem back for one more year not spend any moeny this offseason then the glazers will sell the team right before they have to spend in 2013”
that is a most depressing thought…..
December 30th, 2011 at 11:20 am
@Justin. I am sure the Lightning and the Rays would love for that to be the case because they will be the beneficiaries of the final straw which served to eliminate the remaining fan base of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At least you would see an increase in ticket sales for the other two areas teams.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:29 am
Why would they sell this cash cow? Sweet stadium deal and a new guaranteed TV deal. I have a feeling this increase in revenue is what the Glazers have been waiting for. Look for a complete makeover starting the first week in January.

Sorry, but I think this may be one of the last times on this site. I know all you people want, half being racist, is a new coach. But look at the damn team? Who is wrapping up on tackles? Who’s generating offense? It’s a shame every time I check this site it’s all about Raheem, when the man lead them well last year to a respectable record. I use to check everyday but whatever, I know you don’t care, but I know about ten other people who say the same thing. I like to come here to see about bucs info stats and more. Not just anything that is said somewhat in interviews about Raheem! It’s disgusting. I played football, so if someone is coming at me, and I’m a safety, and I miss that tackle, it’s my gd fault! I have to have the balls and strength to make that tackle. It’s some of the coaching sure, but 90 percent no. But only real people who have played ball know that.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:33 am
I’m confused as to what Morris has done to merit an extension.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:44 am
Is his opinion fascinating because it meshes with your hatred of Gruden? Someone said it best in another blog post….. Joe contributes NOTHING to the overall conversations of all things Buccaneer… he only regurgitates someone else’s articles and provides his own “Bucs Cheerleader Stalker” opinion in an annoying “first person” way…
…. we get it already, you despise Gruden and love it that a story spewing venom and hate has gone national, ironically by another blog that regurgitates someone else’s stories and interjects their own opinion.
Might wanna consider a website name change to “Joe Blowhard” … it’s much more fitting….
[You know what Joe says about people who lie about him. And since Joe is such a “blowhard,” Joe might as well confirm your hatred of him. See ya! — Joe.]
December 30th, 2011 at 11:46 am
Fascinating? LOL
It’s predictable, boring and as far off the topic about what to do with this mess as possible. It’s driven by a personal hatred of Jon Gruden by most of WDAE and Joe’s.
Whoop dee doo, yeah, just absolutely fascinating.
Happy New Year!!!
December 30th, 2011 at 11:50 am
King is an idiot. He also said the Bucs will not resign Blount. If Raheem was white with the same results if King would talk extension? I doubt it.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:55 am
King thinks Raheem will be brought back next year?
Expect the Skyway to be packed If that happens.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:59 am
There is no way that I can take another season of Raheem.
December 30th, 2011 at 12:09 pm
That’s why I don’t listen to King’s show why do people like him with no talent get to yack their opinion whats he done lately? Better still what da heck did he ever do to justify a talk show?
December 30th, 2011 at 12:12 pm
“Better still what da heck did he ever do to justify a talk show?”
He is controversial, and people talk about him; hence, higher ratings…sounds like a great reason for a radio station to hire him to me…
December 30th, 2011 at 12:16 pm
@Bucsallday,
Racism? The results speak for themselves. Get the hell out of here with that crap.
Shaun King was a mediocre QB and he gives BS opinions that no one should listen to b/c he is bitter about his career. Screw him.
December 30th, 2011 at 12:21 pm
Joe here,
@Bucsallday – So a coach loses 9 in a row and half of the fans that want him out are racist? Really?
December 30th, 2011 at 12:24 pm
Brent:
Joe’s in a feisty mood. Brent, you must have the IQ of a centipede. If you think ONLY Hall of Famers know football, just leave this site. Please, do yourself a favor. Joe doesn’t want mental patients like you on the site.
Do you think Sean Payton knows football? Look at his NFL stats. King blows his away as a player.
How about Bill Belicheat? Never played in the NFL. Oh, he’s CANNOT know football, he sucked as a player.
Chucky? A backup quarterback at Dayton. Dayton! Nah, he doesn’t know football!
Seemingly every Bucs fans’ wet dream of the day, Bill Cowher? A garbage linebacker for the Browns. He doesn’t know football, why would anyone listen to him???
December 30th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
No way Raheem is coming back next year, although I do agree somewhat with Shaun King. But remember, we did give him some coordinators, Jagodzinski and Bates, and he fired them, then he fired a successful Oline Coach from a 10 and 6 team.
I think we failed Raheem the most by the average talent we gave him to work with, and little to no depth.
December 30th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
ProUse:
As Joe has written dozens of times, if Morris is retained he pretty much has to have his contract extended or he won’t get any assistants worth two bits and likely none of the coveted free agents fans have been beating their heads against the wall for lo’ these many months, like the immortal Braylon Edwards.
Yes, of course, if Morris managed a Publix, he wouldn’t be extended.
December 30th, 2011 at 12:31 pm
Brad:
That has more legs than you think. If Blount is not back next year, I just hope you have the stones to write on this very site you in fact were the idot and King was accurate.
December 30th, 2011 at 12:31 pm
Raheem, no Raheem who cares if the Glazers spend no money on the team. I really liked Gruden and found him to be entertaining, which is what this is all about….entertainment!!! It is not entertaining to watch the Bucs and it is time for a change at leadership as this team has lost it’s HEART!! Some of the players seem to forget that this is their JOB not just a sport they play. I enjoy the Lightning more all the time and my son loves hockey, so I see some changes quickly or the Lightning will get that money. My Club Seats will be empty next year just like the ones that are right next to me, because no one is going to pay that kind of money to watch another year of this team!!!
December 30th, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Careful posters……late thurs night of crappy bowl games at wobstpete makes for a fiesty Joe the next morn! Someone needs to post a link for the lxus ad commercial to really get the fireworks going 🙂
December 30th, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Shaun King’s ability to stay employed after shockingly stupid analysis simply amazes me. It’s the players fault for not buying into Raheem – but it’s Gruden’s fault the players didn’t buy in to Gruden? …what?
If Gruden was fired after racking up 3 losing seasons in 7 years, then Raheem should be fired for having 2 losing seasons out of 3!
King’s simpleton analysis asserts that all the Glazers have to do to fix this is “…hire two veteran coordinators and allow Raheem to learn…” uhh they already DID that and Raheem FIRED THEM BEFORE THE SEASON WAS OVER (one before it began) you moron!
Oh yeah – he also blames THE OWNERS for not bringing in veteran TALENT through free agency…but once again his sparkling analysis falls short…because he never tells WHO we didn’t sign that would have corrected this!?
While I don’t KNOW if the Glazers have had enough of the Raheem ride – I suspect they’ve run out of other coaches to blame…and my gut tells me Raheem, while a really nice guy, isn’t helping them fill up the stadium, can’t get his defense to stop ANYONE (after solid drafts), and it’s clear his defense has quit on him, on the field, 6 games before the end of the season…is done.
If he’s not, I’m buying a boat with my season ticket money.
This is the EXACT scenario I feared…3 years in and we’ve got to start over…and now our BEST option is trying to lure Cowher out of retirement!? That move means ALL the talent acquired on defense will now be suspect because the defensive alignment requires new talent at KEY spots (high draft picks).
I’m sorry – you can listen to this DOLT – my money’s with Dave Moore who correctly asserts there’s nothing wrong with the TALENT….

@Brad,
leave the racial stuff for KKK meeting, please.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:13 pm
@Joe “Yes, of course, if Morris managed a Publix, he wouldn’t be extended.”
LMAO nice.
So, he should get an extension not based on his merits or skill as a coach, but because if he doesn’t other coaches and players won’t want to play for him? Why would any worthy assistant want to coach or any player play for a guy who doesn’t deserve an extension based on his performance?
If the “next man up” philosophy and heralding undrafted free agents is still in affect, I don’t see how we wouldn’t find a player or coach the organization deemed worthy of a job. Heck, they gave and NFL head coaching job to defensive backs coach with little experience. Their opinion of “worthy” is very different than yours or mine.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:14 pm
@Bucsallday you make me laugh. Please share with us what type of football you played. Pop Warner? High School?! College?!? Backyard?!? The NFL is a whole different world and when a coach loses 9 straight games (most of which were ugly beatdowns) no one is going to trust that you know what your doing. Tell me how you learned how to tackle so properly when you “played ball?” You taught yourself? Just being tough and having balls means you can tackle?!? I think not. Your coach taught you how to tackle. Your COACH. Don’t blame the players, some are slacking but a good coach control such issues. If you truly believe that only 10% of the blame should be placed on the coaches maybe you shouldn’t return to this website, because I don’t want your input.
p.s. I played pop warner too
December 30th, 2011 at 1:25 pm
I give Raheem a bye for season 1. He has had one good season and one terrible season since. Let him at least finish his contract and see what he can do. Maybe this year is the exception. That’s what I hope.
Winners aren’t built by changing direction at the first sign of failure.
December 30th, 2011 at 1:31 pm
@Joe. I will be glad to come back and say I was wrong if they get rid of Blount. I did it last year after Morris went 10-6. I wasn’t a fan of the hire but admitted I was wrong but then again. With the right coach and discipline I believe Blount can be a premier back. He’s the only player I’ve seen that has his highlights shown on TV last year and this year. As far as players he has the ability to be a game changer. It would be a huge mistake to let this guy go. If he’s being late to meetings as I’ve heard it’s the job of the coach and GM to discipline him severely to make him understand his actions. Of course it’s kind of hard when you have Talib not being disciplined at all. Our young guys are learning bad habits from players that should be leaders not enablers.
December 30th, 2011 at 2:24 pm
Lets see… ESPN is paying Jon Gruden millions to announce on Monday Night Football to cover the NFL.
And some small local radio station is paying Shaun King peanuts to spew his uneducated slant. Shaun King obviously has an axe to grind with the multimillion dollar salaried Gruden and the Glazers/Dom because… fill in the blank. Jealous much?
Jon Gruden got paid MORE than he did by the Glazers… even when he wasnt coaching.
Jon Gruden > Raheem Morris
Sorry Shaun King. You lose and are wrong again!
Of course, you know you are wrong because you are saying anything on the contrary just to be a shock jock sell out.
December 30th, 2011 at 2:36 pm
I can’t believe that idiot Gruden played Brad Johnson over King.
Obviously that just didn’t work out…………………
I gotta hand it to King though, he manages to repackage this Chucky spew and get it out in the media every so often.
What the heck, the man has to do something to make a living. I am sure Jon is mildly amused in whatever mansion he currenlty resides, as he thumbs through the huge contract offers to coach or announce Nationally.
I heard the local Subway shop once accepted King’s resume.
December 30th, 2011 at 8:55 pm
It simply amazes me…if King were making a case for firing Morris all of you would be saying the exact opposite about him, lol.
I like Morris, but if I had to choose between keeping Morris or Blount, I would pick Blount all day long. He can overcome the fumbling issue, and anyway, it hasn’t been THAT bad.
Take a good look at Parker’s fumbles. No one wants him cut and he’s a fumbling machine.
December 30th, 2011 at 9:51 pm
I listened to King twice. Once while he was arguing that it was the Owners, the players, and it was somehow the fans fault for Raheem sucking. The 2nd time made me understand his stance, I happened to put it on 1010 as he said “welcome to White Boy Wednesday”. That’s all I had to hear to see what Shawn King was all about. If anyone remembers, Shawn King could never lead a receiver and was always throwing behind them. But Dungy came up with the excuse that his hands were too small.
December 30th, 2011 at 10:28 pm
He really said welcome to white boy wednesday?
Imagine the uproar if Dave Moore said, welcome to black boy sunday.
This really shows that Shaun King is not too keen to white boys, especially on Wednesdays.
December 30th, 2011 at 11:00 pm
Shaun King and fascinating don’t belong in the same sentence.
December 31st, 2011 at 12:06 am
Blount is a beast when he has daylignt. Not so much when he needs to move the pile.
December 31st, 2011 at 12:10 am
I say bring chuckie back. Then we need to make Wyche the DC and Williamson the OC. Think of how many posts we could get every week.
December 31st, 2011 at 1:33 am
@ Tampa2 & TurnThePage
You guys take ignorance to whole new levels…
If you’ve ever actually listened to the King David Show, the guys actually do a good job of NOT making race an issue and making fun of stereotypes. They call the Wednesday show White Boy Wednesday because Shaun is usually out doing his job for Versus so Toby and Justin (two white guys) do the show so they can “celebrate” Shaun not being there. They play rock & alternative music going in and out of commercials.
It may be too hard for you brain surgeons to understand but IT’S A JOKE! IT’S ALL IN GOOD FUN!

Hey Joe S. King sucks as an analyst is what I’m saying. BTW my IQ is fine the question is your IQ to attack in such a manner seems to be a greater percentage of the replies seem to think the same as I do.

If these comments were on InTrade, you could take Raheem’s firing as a foregone conclusion.
One could make the argument that the owners may prolong this outrage another year. I believe you could infer that is the case from Morris recent interview in which he spoke publicly about his situation. In one of the most wierdest moments in Buccaneer loew (and there have been MANY) Morris blamed managment for the commitment to their “building through the draft” strategy – for HIS poor performance. These are the same guys – players AND coaches – that won 10 games last season. He actually stated you can’t fire someone who was a candidate for COY award!? Concluding that he “would never fire himself…” all of this made me think someone has been talking in his ear. That the Glazers are trying to be more like Pittsburgh – a stable franchise that’s not JUST built through the draft for decades…but they’ve only had 3 head coaches over the past 40 years…and ALL of them have gone to the Superbowl.
There’s no doubt that continuity of management allowed Cowher & Tomlin to learn on the job – REGARDLESS of on-field performances. It gave the fans of the black & gold many great years…but it also gave them periods of headshaking lousiness (anyone remember how long the “SLASH” experiment took?)…
The one BRIGHT spot for me is – this ain’t Pittsburgh, and different economic climates exist. While NFL owners no longer depend upon the revenue stream of full stadiums to run their teams – they DO depend upon full stadiums for PROFIT…and since we all go to work to make money – we can understand the motivation of an ownership group to make MONEY…which is why I’m betting that in the end Raheem Morris will be asked to collect his playbook & report to Mark Dominic…
The question is – who out there can generate enough confidence to sell season tickets – now that Cowher’s signed on to coach the Cowboys?
