Wow. One year without playing. Hasn’t even practiced yet, but the masses say “start him!”
The question wasn’t if we should start him, it was if he should be kept on the roster. There is a huge difference. Only let him start if he earns it. Remind him of what it’s like to work up from the bottom.
Pete D you beat me to it. I would not start him right away. Eval him, train him, get him up to speed, then start him. As Pete D said, the question was if he should be on the roster.
Yeah, I’ve watched our safeties pretty close. Both Jones and lynch are playing pretty good ball right now. They aren’t the problem
Psst- think OLBer(Black, and to a lesser degree, Hayes), and Cornerbacks( all of except Ronde( hes struggled a bit, too.but I refuse to say anything bad about the Great Ronde Barber)
But I gotta admit, I feel total confidence in Tanard. It’s just a wa comfortable feeling, like a thick jacket in Montana! I just feel we can start to build the secondary based on him! He’s the guy we can depend on!
I mean, I realize that, on four other occassions, when we were counting on him- he totally screwed us. I know we thought we could build around him before, and four times he shot us the finger, and fired it up!! I realize that he failed drug test that he knew about months in advance. I know he’s always choose the powder over the Pewter, the rail Over the Red, the pot over the Pirates
But this time, I just feel good about Tanard. I just feel like we can trust him with the future of the secondary. Stop developing Asante and Lynch. Tanard is our future.
Not a question of starting him, it’s a question of health and depth. We’ve lost Grimm and Holland for the season due to injury. We have Black to bring up, but that still leaves us a total of 4 Safeties (Jones, Lynch, Asante & Black). We could use Tanard, if just for depth and that he’s healthy (not to mention he was pretty darned good at the FS spot when he was playing).
The signing of a LB to fill Holland’s spot today shows that we are also hurting at LB and ST depth. With Diles hurt and Black constantly hurting, we only had 4 LBs as well (Hayes, Foster, Watson, & Hayward). We need the roster spots for players like Lynch to be on ST (where he excels). Guys like Hayward on ST. When those players have to start, it really is hurting our ST. You could see it this past week.
Tanard Jackson on the roster, and playing on defense allows others to be depth and ST where they are suited best to be.
Safety and Dl are the least of your concerns? If we don’t have McCoy I’d start getting concerned man… Safety play has sucked, imo. Sean Jones is always late helping over the top, Corey Lynch isn’t getting it done either. I’d rather see Asante and Jones start until T Jack is ready to roll
Why the he’ll is everybody bashing Cory Lynch???
He was the ONLY defensive player who DIDN’T play like total S**t last Sunday!! He was the only one stoping passes, and tackling Running backs!!
What? Di you guys just pick the white kid, and blame him? It’s friggin nuts! Is that smuck Ian Beckles brain washing you guys?

@Mauha Deeb
Any other ideas to fix this D?

Who cares about his past, give him a shot to play bc he paid his dues.
What better options do we have? Our secondary has been Charles Barkley “Turrible”.
If we don’t give Jim a shot right away, than I will question our desire to won football games.
Go gettem, Tanard!

Not start. But get him suited-up! He’s gotta be better than anything we currently have.

This guy has talent. Don’t let him go until he’s face down in the gutter. Wouldn’t want him to get straight and bite you in the ass

Ridiculous not to put him on the roster. Starting… meh. But, uh did you see our safeties the last few games?

Great News, Great News….Start him now, can’t afford to see C. Lynch as a starter against the saints

@Stimpy Hire a defensive coordinator. A different free safety isn’t going to fix a thing.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:35 pm
I wouldn’t even put him on the roster unless he proves he can play. At least not the active roster.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:36 pm
I personally hope they keep him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they let him go. I just hope they pull it together for the Saints.
October 11th, 2011 at 6:36 pm
Hayes has and black have been awful all year. Ronde was great but only in one game. Safety, DL and MLB are the last of my worries on defense.
