“That’s A Strange Distribution”
October 6th, 2011Buccaneers Radio Network pregame and postgame host Justin “The Commish” Pawlowski talked to LeGarrette Blount today about catching more passes.
Blount responded saying he believes he’s shown coaches he can be a weapon in the passing game since the asinine lockout ended. Blount also points out he’s got as many catches this year as he had all last year.
Blount wants the ball thrown his way, and Chucky wants that, too. While calling Monday Night Football, Blount was one guy Chucky gushed about. He didn’t really love to many Buccaneers in his usual gushing style. In fact, Chucky was pretty subdued outside of slobbering over Adrian Clayborn, who he incessently and inaccurately called CLAY-BURN, and slobbering over Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood.
Blount, though, was Chucky’s lovechild.
” I know you like your bubble screens, Jaws, but I like to see big bodies bang,” Chucky said. (Yeah, this from the guy that buried Mike Alstott on the bench.)
And Chucky told Bucs fans they need to buy a ticket to see Blount, and he read off Blount’s lopsided runs-to-catches ratio and told America in an annoyed tone, “That’s a strange distribution.”
Joe can’t disagree. Joe’s old enough to remember the days before Father Dungy and his band of horrendous offensive coordinators stopped tossing the ball to Mike Alstott in space, where he would proceed to steamroll defensive backs.
In Joe’s mind, this has to become part of the Bucs offense.

It felt like they started going that direction this last game. I can see it happening more as the season rolls on.

Little does America know that Bucs fans are the only ones that know Gruden is completely full of mastodon dung. When he started talking about Alstott like he had him in the glory years I almost defecated on myself. I remember one (1) big play in the passing game from Alstott in 02-03. Against the Saints, went for like 60 yds and a TD, I believe it was also on MNF

Deckerhoff calls him Clay-Burn too Joe

The offensive series where EG caught about 5 straight check downs in the middle of the field I kept asking the TV, “Why is that not Blount?” Is there a reason why screens are not in the offensive playbook?

I keep hearing about how Blount can’t catch, and he keeps catching passes.

More passes to Blount is a great idea. But that’s all the Chucky advice I wanna hear. As he proved here- coaching isn’t his strong point, especially when it comes to utilizing young talent.
Yaa Gruden! Thanks for the Lombardi. Now shut up! We are still rebuilding the disaster you called a team.

We should give Blount some pass plays if even to only make defenses respect the pass when he is in there. It is stupid to see this guy not be on the field more.

Alsott had his longest receiving play, of 44yds for a TD, under Gruden. And, yeah those neck injuries will get you sidelined!
BTW I always wondered why Dungy pulled back on his receptions? In his rookie year he had 65 total receptions, but his total fell to just 23 total receptions his second year and never got over 35 total receptions per year(except 2001 and 2002) for the rest of his career.(65-1996, 23-1997, 22-1998, 27-1999, 13-2000, 35-2001)

I agree with Gruden there but I did almost fall out of my chair when he said something along the lines of “pounding Blunt like we used to pound Alstott”
WHAT????????? He didn’t use him for 4 years!?!?!?
Anyway, he is right in having Blount catch a few more passes though. The playaction alone could be devastating.
