No Girly Games For Brian Price
October 1st, 2011Joe hasn’t written much about the ridiculous NFL not fining the Falcons’ William Moore for launching his helmet into Josh Freeman’s late in the fourth quarter Sunday.
Even the casual observer of the nonsensical NFL discipline policy knows that ugly, potential decapitation was worthy of a fine. Yet nothing came down from hatchetman Roger Goodell and every thinking person in the United States knows a massive fine would have come if the quarterback was Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez, or any other QBs turned into demigods by BSPN and the league itself.
To Freeman’s manly credit, he said on his radio show this week that he thinks the NFL should let guys play and he loves the physical side of the game.
Brian Price, however, did feel the wrath of NFL fine collectors, so reports Woody Cummings of The Tampa Tribune. Price was whacked $7,500 for head-slapping a guard and he didn’t mince words when asked about it.
“It’s football, not patty-cake,” Price said. “I don’t know what they want us to do – play two-hand touch or something? I’m always going to play the same and play tenacious. I’m not sorry for what I did. That’s just the way I play.”
Kudos to Price for talking the talk. How refreshing is that.
It always mystifies Joe what the NFL accomplishes fining a guy $7,500 anyway. It’s not enough cash to change most players’ behavior.
In the case of Freeman, hopefully the Bucs will dish out their own punishment during the next Bucs-Falcons game.

The NFL did fine Moore.

As written below, and in the story above, this is not a fine for a hit on Freeman. –Joe

Even if Moore didn’t get fined I don’t understand the uproar. Josh was running for a 1st down and didnt slide. He was a runner in that instance, not a quarterback.

You still can’t lead with your helmet, regardless!

Bones, if you read they say that was for a hit on E. Graham. in the same article you posted

@Vince
Believe me brother, if a running back is coming up against a tackler then the tackler can lay his @$$ out. That hit was perfectly legal. The only people that the newer, tougher rules protect QBs in the pocket and defenseless receivers only.
Also, Moore got fined for hitting EG not Free
“Instead, coach Mike Smith confirmed the fine was for an unnecessary roughness penalty when Moore used his helmet to hit running back Earnest Graham in the third quarter of the Buccaneers’ 16-13 win.”

Gotta love the attitude

I can’t confirm, but I do believe the rules state that no player can “launch” (leave their feet) at another player’s head to initiate contact with their own helmet. Helmet to helmet contact with any player is a potential flag and fine. The penalty used to be known as spearing, I’m not sure what they call it now (not that it matters).
Either way, I’m not gonna worry about it. Moore was fined, just for a different hit. I’m curious though, which hit is more likely to do serious harm to one or both of the players involved? A hit after the whistle not involving helmets, or launching helmet first into someone’s head?

“It’s football, not patty-cake,” Price said””
Apparently Gerald McCoy never got the memo ???

Good for you Brian. 5 years ago nobody would dream of a fine for a basic move in the trenches, now it’s common. The ridiculous fines will continue until Goodell is out. He simply doesn’t understand the game. It’s football, hard hits happen, head slaps (still shocked that he got fined for a head slap…wtf is that) happen, violence happens. The players who play the game know this. It will be a glorious day for the NFL when Fuhrer Goodell leaves.

I guess the guy with the screen name fat Brian Price or whatever his cute s.n was is either no longer posting or changed his screen name. What an a-hole. Be a man and come out and admit how f-ing wrong you were about the man.

Fines have gotten totally out of hand. Enough already. And that Brian Price head slap was awesome.

Price is fast becoming the fan favorite and I say Hell Yeah! His story is amazing and he plays like a beast. Crenshahw High, 2 brothers killed in gang violence, grew up in South Central, and the freak hip injury. Hes not even 100%. Hes a damn movie in the making! Keep it up Brian and annihilate your enemies on the filed. I’m buying his Jersey. Out.

Price got fined for ‘head-slapping” an o-lineman????!!! How long has this been illegal? For a long time? Is it like facemasking or is it a newish penalty? I have never heard of a d-lineman getting this penalty. He wasn’t called for a penalty in the game.

MY only concern with Price is the pain. From everything I’ve read his surgery has permanently corrected the injury. However, I also read alot about him apparently having to constantly block out pain. MY worry is that even when PRice is back in 100% football shape that he will always have to fight through pain to play. No one can have a long career like that. It will lead to either an extremely shortened career or painkiller addiction in attempts to prolong his career. I sincerely hope that the pain Brian is feeling is something can be reduced or eliminated with time and further rehab.

Brain Price is the freakin MAN !! and the loser with the s/n fatbrianprice is a LOSER…wonder what Deacon Jones would say about a fine for a head slap since he invented it ….
October 2nd, 2011 at 11:19 am
I copuld be wrong, but the head slap has been illegal for a long time. Keep playing your game BP, some charity will enjoy the $7500.
