A Stunning Win
October 16th, 2011Roughly an hour after the Bucs beat the Saints and Joe is still shaking his head, but not in a bad way.
This is why Joe doesn’t like to gamble on the NFL. What sober person saw this coming?
A defense that was beaten like an unwanted stepchild last week by the 49ers, without one of its best players (Gerald McCoy) and so desperate for a safety it started a guy who had a grand total of four practices in the past 54 weeks, and facing Drew Brees no less, forced four turnovers.
A team that was without its best running back, relying on a 31-year old tailback, a senior citizen by NFL standards, ran for over 100 yards.
A team that has been pistol-whipped by the Saints at home the past two seasons turned the tables and did the same to the Saints.
The Bucs are now in first place, tied with the Saints for the NFC South lead and currently holding the tiebreaker edge and undefeated in the division through five games.
A stunning turn of events along Dale Mabry Highway.

I’d be willing to bet one thing: Thomas will dispute that McCoy is one of our best players. Anyone want to bet me?

Yeah Joe, all of the above you mention just makes this win that much sweeter! Great game today, glad I got to watch it up here in Virginia!

I am more and more impressed with Bennett every single game. With McCoy out, he is undoubtedly the best DL we have. Even with him in, one could make a sound argument for Bennett over McCoy this year(which would be an argument in which no one is more wrong or right than the other). I don’t think Bennett has played a bad game all year. This line is exciting.
I am totally surprised with Clayborn’s pass rushing gifts. When we drafted him everyone was talking about Clayborn being more of a run stopper than a rusher. Well, we can throw that out the window. He is the best pass rusher on the team and possibly the worst run stopper lol. I am still glad to have him. Any one missing “Stylez” White?
@Hawaiian Buc: Vegas wont even take that bet.

DONT TAKE THAT BET… 2.2 HAS already started the McCoy Bitch Trials already!

The hallmark of young, talented, up and coming team is inconsistency. They can beat any team in the league on any given Sunday and conversely, they can lose to any team in the league on any given Sunday. That time is coming in the not too distant future when we can expect and be pretty sure that we are going to win.

I didn’t call that the bucs would win, but I wasn’t one of the many that proclaimed Freeman sucks, Raheem’s over his head, and Dom is stupid, and jumped off the bandwagon. It is so satisfying knowing how much better we are with T Jack instead of Grimm and Lynch. Night and day difference with Jackson’s superior athleticism and ball skills

Wow, looks like the route by San Francisco was just an “off” day.
T-Jack might have been the difference.
Freeman was awesome today, and I hope be is just bow hitting his stride.
Graham did spectacular too.
Did Larsen slide to guard once zuttah moved to center?

it’s a long season, but it was nice to see E.G. running like “Mr. August” is used to. I didn’t see this coming, but that’s why they play the game. The D was sick most of the game.

Sean Peyton doesn’t have to steal the painkillers anymore! Hope he didn’t build his tolerance to them up too much or he’s in for some hurt.
October 16th, 2011 at 9:39 pm
We took out Sean Payton’s knee, and then it was game over. Brees turns it over 4 times, can’t convert 3rd downs like he used to. Amazing!
And to think our McCoy and Blount were out for this game, just makes u wonder what if, when everyone is healthy and available.
Totally agree macabee, we definitely play to the talent level of our opponent and sometimes get wooped. But we def can play with the best of them on any given Sunday. Great win!!
