“Statement Game”
September 25th, 2011Derek “Old School” Fournier of WhatTheBuc.net believes if the Bucs are to be considered one of the NFL’s top teams, they need to take care of business today against the Dixie Chicks in his weekly preview of Bucs games.

34 – 17 Bucs? Talk about being an optimist, wow.
Listen, the Falcons haven’t played to their potential throughout the first two weeks, and neither have the Bucs. But the Falcons do play extremely hard against us, as they have since 2009.
I’ll agree that we’ll constantly need an extra man up front, maybe Cody Grimm, helping in the box. I don’t see our front 4 stopping the run or getting pressure by themselves – but if we can get the lead early to have the luxury of blitzing, we can definitely pull this out. NO room for sloppy play or slow starts in this one

I agree about it being a ‘statement game’. Are the Bucs a team to be considered in the playoff hunt or a team that is still working to just get better? I don’t see them making the playoffs if they lose this game. Anything can happen as injuries may play a role. Ryan is already gimpy from the pounding he’s been taking and key players can go down in any team, but as things stand the Bucs playoff chances are greatly diminished if they lose this game.

Sadly, the score did not line up but it sure as hell could have. We still have not played a solid 4 quarters on both sides of the ball.
