Patriots At Bucs, Open Thread
August 18th, 2011
Alright Bucs fans, feel free to comment and fire away about tonight’s game. No chat tonight but this thread will be open throughout the game so fire away.
Yes, if you must know, that’s Jaime Hanna above.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:39 pm
Nice way to kick off the thread Joe.
Jaime is hot and ready for the BUCS to kick butt.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:44 pm
Yeah, we aint ready yet.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:45 pm
Great way to open the game. No offense and a porous defense. This better improve.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:45 pm
Pats scored. This will be a good sampling of the defensive line. I said before they would struggle at first…they are right now.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:47 pm
The offense didn’t do thay great neither
August 18th, 2011 at 7:47 pm
Brady is a beast period. But if you still look at it, the def line was getting nice penetration and they were in position on that long woodhead run. He just had a realllllllly nice cutback
August 18th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
Defensive line isn’t struggling with clogging lanes, but they did over pursue on that long Woodhead run.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
Mason Foster got roasted on the touchdown pass.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:48 pm
This is gonna get ugly in a hurry
August 18th, 2011 at 7:51 pm
Wow, our o-line is getting beat pretty bad so far.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:52 pm
Joe,
Wonder if Rah is second guessing Foster in coverage. Might be too early
August 18th, 2011 at 7:52 pm
How many plays before the next NE TD?
August 18th, 2011 at 7:53 pm
Our whole offense looks befuddled, like they don’t know what hit them.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:54 pm
Hey Mason, you are now in Roger Goodell’s league. You are not allowed to hit hard in the NFL.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:54 pm
Things sure do change quickly in a week.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:57 pm
Not in a week, more like when we play a good team
August 18th, 2011 at 7:57 pm
Bellichick planned to test Foster, uh oh!
August 18th, 2011 at 7:57 pm
2.2: no they don’t. You’re not allowed to post comments pretending that preseason games matter, because you’re on record numerous times saying they’re absolutely meaningless. So shut up.
August 18th, 2011 at 7:59 pm
We in trouble. LOL
August 18th, 2011 at 8:00 pm
Them 2 series 110 yrds
August 18th, 2011 at 8:01 pm
Anyone seen McCoy?
August 18th, 2011 at 8:02 pm
I agree that they don’t matter to most teams. However, after last week you and others were acting as if the game was evidence of something meaningful. So, what is up now?
August 18th, 2011 at 8:02 pm
Man, Bucs D in trouble! no pressure, open running lanes ect.. (remember pats have one of the top 5 o-lines in the NFL) O in trouble too!!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:03 pm
Joe here,
Crowd looks better than Detroit game last year, but plenty of empty seats.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:04 pm
don’t worry, we will be good 3 years from now, and the good thing is all the money the team will have for not spending much this year,,,,
don’t forget to buy your tickets!!!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:04 pm
They are evidence of something meaningful: we’re better than the Chiefs but not yet in the class of the Patriots. Pretty simple, actually, and not much of a surprise since the Pats are the model franchise in the NFL.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Clayborn is looking good.
Foster got robbed. His penalty was b.s. Brilliant play on the reciever.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:06 pm
so much for graham picking up blockers
August 18th, 2011 at 8:06 pm
Boy your tune has changed, nothing like a nice dose of reality!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
This Patriots D looks like its playing a game of madden!!!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Bucs look like they just woke up from an afternoon nap.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Can someone Tweet Score Please? Can’t Watch or Listen…Thanks!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Very unimpressive start, time to get wasted!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Maybe our rookie fa backups can accomplish something.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Pats annoucers saying the Bucs should punt on 3rd down. Bucs may not win 4 games this year.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Anyone See Donald Penn getting pushed around like a little kid!! lol that was to funny!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Donald Penn was literally blocking with his ass. Not looking very pro-bowl.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Merlot Joe Maddon is on the Bucs sideline. Derek Shelton must be nearby the way the offense is struggling.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:10 pm
highest paid o-line in the league, not sure they’re earning it right now…
August 18th, 2011 at 8:11 pm
Well, this could be a year in which the team show some regress from last year. Specially since we decided no to sign any FA worth a penny.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:11 pm
Clayborn is getting owned this series.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:12 pm
Damn even the backup QB killing us
August 18th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
Man woodhead is just finding those cut back lanes!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
Joe
Are you watching the game on your computer like all of us?
August 18th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
I do like the way McCoy is looking. That’s one positive thus far.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
ARG!! Black missed his gap!!! come on man. damn mccoy off sides???
August 18th, 2011 at 8:15 pm
Raheem, i root for you, but come on man!!!!!! where is your defensive planning? Pats are having their way with the bucs D.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:16 pm
My gosh this team looks horrible. As much as I hate to admit it we could use Rudd for a few weeks while our MLB gets a clue.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:17 pm
21 nothing, in a game of madden thats game over, double the money on the bet that was placed. smdh!!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:17 pm
21-0 in the first quarter? This is an unqualified ass-whipping so far.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:18 pm
Fans….what fans we don’t need no stinking fans.
Looks like we are on track for black out for some time. Great job Raheem / Dominic.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:19 pm
ScottB:
No.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:19 pm
Good thing they don’t count. We’ll know where we really stand after the Lions game. I’ll reserve judgment till then.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:22 pm
Our vaunted offensive line sure is looking like sh-t tonight.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:22 pm
Just put in the backups before someone gets hurt
August 18th, 2011 at 8:22 pm
this should sell some tickets
August 18th, 2011 at 8:23 pm
Good answer Joe,
rule 1, never talk about fight club!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:23 pm
Think I will watch the cheerleader picture. It’s far more interesting than game.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:24 pm
I agree. Put in the backups and at least let this game count for something in getting a look at our depth. The starters, except Freeman & McCoy should all be ashamed of themselves for such a display of ineptitude. Damn.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:24 pm
Why sign a FA OL to compete with our guys when we can get Trueblood
August 18th, 2011 at 8:24 pm
adrian hit Brady, thats nice!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:27 pm
Let me add Clayborn. He’s looked good, too, except for a couple plays.
Trueblood’s the only o-lineman holding his own on most plays. Go figure.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:27 pm
ok, at least they got a clean hit on Brady.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:28 pm
Holly SH-T I can’t believe it we made them punt
August 18th, 2011 at 8:28 pm
ok offense, lets get some first downs and end on a positive
August 18th, 2011 at 8:28 pm
Okay, dammit!!! Finally a good defensive series. Something to hang my hat on for this disappointing game.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:28 pm
Well, three plays in a row that the Bucs made Brady sweat and look at what happens: Punt. First it was Clayborn, then GMC and on third down, Bennett.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:30 pm
Pats player getting carted off.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:30 pm
McCoy has stepped up as Raheem said he would. Great job so far. And against an excellent Pats o-line. Things are looking up. Clayborn looking good, too.
Now if Bowers would just do something on his snaps. Nada from him so far.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
So… J. Faine was the one that didn’t partecipate in most of the team activities organized by Freeman, right? Well, Mr. Faine is getting OWNED. What an embarassement.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:32 pm
Where is the push by our offensive line. New England is not this good.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:35 pm
Bye bye Malone. Nice knowin’ ya. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:35 pm
K2 dressed but hasn’t played yet…
August 18th, 2011 at 8:35 pm
Haven’t seen a shank like that since Tiger played a major….last week.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:36 pm
Let’s go defense let’s make it two good series in a row.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:38 pm
There goes that run defense…..
August 18th, 2011 at 8:39 pm
i’m surprised how well the game looks on my pc.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:39 pm
I’m not watching the game yet, but I know one thing for certain: we are all going to hear at least 9 consecutive days of Thomas running his mouth. And I’d be willing to bet he will have some friends. Yes, the same Thomas who just earlier today said Preseason means nothing. I guess that only applies when we win.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
God i can hear thomas bi*ch tomorrow about this game
August 18th, 2011 at 8:41 pm
a total embarrassment
August 18th, 2011 at 8:44 pm
After all these DL draft pics, we let them run right though our D. How disappointing. Hope we can improve in the next few weeks.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:44 pm
Man, just as the starting d-line starts playing well they put in the backups and they’re getting dominated again.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:46 pm
Hmmm, I guess Ruud wasn’t the problem after all.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:47 pm
If the Bucs are following the New England model for Free Agents / trades, I’m not sure it is really working.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
That’s what every team strives for…more penalty yards than offense yards. Go Bucs.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
Stop drinking are own koolaid and eat some humbled pie
August 18th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
Probably a good thing. Make these guys realize they’re gonna have to work even harder to be successful this year. Get back to it and put in the extra work. You’re not there yet, you haven’t been declared winners of anything at all. Have to work harder than everyone else. I hope the team takes this game to heart and busts it for the next couple weeks before the season starts.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:53 pm
Yes. This is probably good for a young team. This will push them to improve rather than rest on their KC success.
August 18th, 2011 at 8:53 pm
Good thing Ruuds gone. Don’t need his “7 yards down field tackles” @ least he could tackle!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:54 pm
Penn got DESTROYED tonight…. Anyone else agree? Their 93 is a beast
August 18th, 2011 at 8:59 pm
A great does of reality for Tampa, it is like Men playing against Boys. I turned it off!
August 18th, 2011 at 8:59 pm
Guys, don’t worry. Raheem will unleash the offense in the 2nd half.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:04 pm
One has to ask, are we being out coached, or are we really this awful ? I see plain old physical domination myself ? We are getting spanked, and that is being kind.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Well you can’t say it’s because we have no FAs. I’m watching the Eagles/Steelers game and with all the Eagle FAs, the Steelers are whuppin them just like the Pats are whuppin us.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:08 pm
did the pats play their starting defense for the whole first half?
August 18th, 2011 at 9:08 pm
kinda like when Thomas Jones was dancing on the defense for 2 plays then pulled out of the game?
August 18th, 2011 at 9:09 pm
28-0 is not the same as 14-0
August 18th, 2011 at 9:09 pm
Halftime…thank god. I’m getting a couple beers.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:11 pm
Eagles troubles with Steelers are understandable. These guys just came into the program. The Bucs however have what Dominic calls continuity, which is showing completely tonight. Together they are retreating like the French.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:12 pm
Couple MORE beers I hope.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:12 pm
Only preseason, but that almost looked like a “grown man team” first half.
Burn the tape.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:13 pm
Some positives, but problems last year are still unchanged. Starting O-line can’t pass block. This game backups can’t block either.Quincy Black still spends more time in his belly than his feet. Hayes is hiding, I guess.
Our ” strength of the team” secondary can’t stop the pass, even when we play with the extra Db(3-3-5). And the 3-3-5 is only making stopping the run harder. Josh Johson keeps impressing. Missed field goal just typical of the night. Gonna be a long night.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:13 pm
Where is Thomas 2.0? Figured he’d love to see this score.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:14 pm
@ Apple roof cleaning
Its pre-season man or woman coaches don’t prepare their teams as if it is the regular season, they just throw at them basic plays to run. this one is on the players.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:15 pm
Blackoutaneers.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:17 pm
FLBoy, I have HAD my share of Beers tonight, to try and ease the pain of this azz whipping.
It seem Tampa just can’t play with these big AFC Teams that run the 3/4
I think some has to do with coaching, but more has to do with plain old physical dominance.
We simply are not anywhere near the level of the Steelers or the Patriots. Their lines seem simply to be better, on both sides of the ball.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:19 pm
I have season tickets and don’t go to preseason games. I don’t think they mean any thing because we’ve beat the Pats in preseason the last 2 or 3 times we played them. This is a good lesson plan for the young Bucs. Like Flyboy, have a cold one and relax. Better now, than later.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:23 pm
Wow. We’re paying these bums on the oline what???
August 18th, 2011 at 9:23 pm
our multimillion dollar kicker just missed! its 28-0. not good! anyways, hope we can clean this up.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:23 pm
i think it doesnt really matter theyll have more time to prepare and be ready the only thing preseason is good for is evaluating players your goin to cut.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:24 pm
McCoy did look better.
Our kicker punted one down to the three.
JJ isnt a bad backup.
I’m out, somebody help me out here……………
Oh, it doesnt count. thats a biggie.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:25 pm
some of the dline looked good mason fosters hit was nice
August 18th, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Well, now.
Enough celebrating, Elbert.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Man our safty got burnt twice on the first two touchdowns! #26 sucks in coverage!
August 18th, 2011 at 9:27 pm
Seriously, Mack scores the first points?
Now which corner do we cut? Great
August 18th, 2011 at 9:27 pm
clayborn hit brady, (not before the pass was off but i believe it caused an incomplete
August 18th, 2011 at 9:28 pm
okam got a sack on brady…
August 18th, 2011 at 9:28 pm
Bubblebuy Elbert Mack tries to keep his gig with a pick-six.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:31 pm
elbert put pressure on gaitor with the pick. was the interception caused by pressure
August 18th, 2011 at 9:34 pm
yep, the sky is not falling. Thank god it is a preseason game. There is no need to jump ship a;ready. McCoy, Clayborn, and Okem looked pretty good. The Pats are on a mission to show why they should have been in the SB last year. They are the best team in the league, but as we all know the play offs are anyones to win. My biggest consern was the sloppy penalties,
August 18th, 2011 at 9:34 pm
Here we go Tampa, here we go.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:35 pm
“[Frank] Okam looks like a manatee going up Crystal River!”
Wow, and that’s not even from the “color” commentary. All jokes aside though, GMC looked powerful from the nose tackle today, why not leave Okam in the under tackle and let them wreck it.
Why haven’t we seen that in preseason, secret weapon?
August 18th, 2011 at 9:35 pm
Time to get a new Defensive Coordinator
August 18th, 2011 at 9:37 pm
Thomas 2.2 Says:
August 18th, 2011 at 8:01 pm
Anyone seen McCoy?
Yes I did…
August 18th, 2011 at 9:43 pm
“Oh, it doesnt count. thats a biggie.”
—–
I like that one the best!
August 18th, 2011 at 9:44 pm
McCoy didn’t play NT on any snaps I saw. I saw him at the UT spot.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:47 pm
Don’t you discriminate against me Joe. Freedom of speech. Everyone shall have their voice.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:47 pm
FLBoy, really? I could have sworn I saw him at nose pushing the whole line back.
Well that’s Bucs preseason for you; use it to fine the best clearest stream before the season starts! I’m still on the hunt
August 18th, 2011 at 9:48 pm
What killed the Bucs early were penalties, they look like the Chiefs did last week but what can you expect with barely any practice. I won’t start worrying about this team unless they play this bad against Detroit. Like everyone says, preseason doesn’t mean much and this year it’s more of scrimmage type games anyways
August 18th, 2011 at 9:51 pm
Josh Johnson is killing me. The entire offensive line could be upgraded. I am extremely disappointed.
August 18th, 2011 at 9:56 pm
Thomas 2.2 dont worry where mc coy is why is that fat butt donald penn fac ing freeman and gettig pushed 4 yards back ????
August 18th, 2011 at 9:56 pm
Jrock: but you’re right about McCoy showing up tonight. He played really well. Him, Clayborn & Watson really impressed from what I saw.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:12 pm
Tough loss tonight.
Let’s go out and get them next game.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:15 pm
Quick question.
Is it out of line to think Rah may not be cut out to be a DC in the NFL?
I like him as a motivator and HC and all. But being a DC may be a stretch.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:22 pm
Clearly, if we’d just thrown mad cash at free agents we wouldn’t have stunk it up in this preseason game.
[Checks Steelers-Eagles score.] Hey, wait a minute…
August 18th, 2011 at 10:22 pm
I would like to start this thread by saying Tom Brady breaks his knee again. Oh yeah I do. We look like crap… Rashammm should be fired and Geg Olsen could’nt coach pee wee football. The only thing the NFL got worng with lock out was not getting rid of the soccer loving english owners. Instead of spending money on a corner or a real “O” line and “D” line SUX, We paid a bunch of no ones. Please GOD step in and get rid of our ownership.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:25 pm
Damn Holland Jus killed woodhead dats two great hits tonight the.other by foster I don’t give.a.Damn what da refs called
August 18th, 2011 at 10:25 pm
WE fREAKING SUX
August 18th, 2011 at 10:28 pm
Will be interesting to see how this team fares against a tough schedule. Last year’s win total was inflated due to playing the NFC West and having a terrible Carolina team in division. They’re not a horrible team, but 6-10 is realistic against this schedule. Freeman was unimpressive. The Detroit game will say a lot. That D could have them on the run all game and set up a bad start to the season.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:28 pm

Damn dude, you might want to lay off the beers at this point. It’s preseason, take a deep breath, now another, now read what you just wrote. You just made Thomas seem very rational.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:30 pm
Yeah, I think Marc needs to switch to decaf, or put the meth pipe down.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:30 pm
Great showing by several players tonight: McCoy, Clayborn, Watson, Gaitor, JJ, Bradford, Lorig. I’m pumped to get the Lions in here.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:47 pm
I just got back from the Stephen Holder’s chat. After reading all the glowing comments supporting the Bucs leading up to this game, I am just blown away at the number of fairweather fans that are out there. I don’t care about the game, but this type of response, I didn’t expect.
August 18th, 2011 at 10:50 pm
Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw just found time to give the Bucs some praise during the Steelers-Eagles game…picked them to be one of the 5-6 new teams to make the playoffs this year…starting to get some recognition!
August 18th, 2011 at 10:50 pm
@Macabee,
Tell me about it. Talk about getting your panties in a wad over an exhibition game! We’ve got people wanting Raheem fired, God to take ownership from the Glazers, and Brady to break his knee; and that’s not even Thomas! My oh my oh my!
August 18th, 2011 at 11:19 pm
Guys, Joe has to apologize:
Joe forgot to check the pending comments for those who are first-time commenters. There were 27 pending when Joe checked. If you were left out in the cold, Joe apologizes.
August 19th, 2011 at 12:04 am
@ apple roof
Really, the Steelers offensive line? Clearly, you don’t know what your talking about…That was one of their biggest weakness last year and they are injury riddled on that front. Look at the great Steelers last week vs. the Redskins…don’t get your panties in an uproar over the preseason…were talking about preseason…preseason (my inner Allen Iverson)!
August 20th, 2011 at 9:22 am
147 responses and no one states the obvious: That’s NOT Jaime Hanna.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:55 am
Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure that the last time Joe posted this picture he said it was Marlana Aref.
