Mark Dominik Already Busy At Work

July 25th, 2011

Word is beginning to trickle out about at least one guy Bucs rock star general manager Mark Domink has agreed to terms with as an undrafted free agent — undrafted free agents cannot be signed until tomorrow.

Thanks to Twitter, Joe learned that Tennessee middle linebacker Nick Reveiz has agreed to terms with the Bucs.

Interesting that Reveiz played middle linebacker in a Tampa-2 coached by none other than former Bucs defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Though you don’t expect much from an undrafted free agent, with no OTAs or rookie minicamps this year, Reveiz, given his background, should have a shorter learning curve than most.

Arguably Reveiz’s best game last season came in a lopsided loss to Alabama in which he had four solo tackles and seven assists. In his final college game against North Carolina, Reveiz blew up with 11 solo tackles.

    Be still, my beating heart.

    Lock for the Division now!

^^^Every year, with each undrafted free agent signing we get idiotic sarcastic comments like that. It gets really old.

And the great Dom begins his hunt. It sure feels good to know this team finally has some quality leadership at the top

blount agreed to terms last year with the niners, before he was 1uped by the titans. doesnt always mean he’s ours

  10. JBUC24 Says:

Dan: Blount went to the titans, because of his increased chances of a starting role in Tennessee v. San Fran, the 49ers were not “1uped” as you stated. I think any MLB we sign has a shot at making our squad…..wouldn’t you say?

Good luck with the chaos , Joe! Our thoughts are with you! It’s gonna be crazy.

  12. Espo Says:

How long did this guy actually play under Monte? I don’t think his knowledge of the Tampa 2 has anything to do with this. I’m not sure how to pronounce his name so I’m going to pronounce it like revise, as in, please revise our middle linebacker position.

Here’s what I’ve found. 5-9, 230, 4.71; walk-on team captain; outstanding special teams player; known for grit and fortitude; can also play fullback.

    Macabee:

Dominik sure likes captains, doesn’t he?

One year more than 99.99 percent of the rest of all the college football players.

We’ve got 5 other signings as well. I stayed up til 2 am following multiple Twitter accounts.

The big signing in my eyes is WR Raymond Webber of Ankansas-Pine Bluff. He was monstrously productive (101-1429-10) in I-AA, leading the nation in catches, and has enough athletic ability and speed (4.50 10’06” LJ) to earn a shot at the NFL. His collegiate production is even more impressive considering the next most productive receiver on his team did very little (16-242-2). Webber produced 46.5% of his team’s receptions, 52.0% of their yards, and 47.6% of the team’s TD catches!

Also signed were LB Derrell Smith, Syracuse, who according to Twitter was recruited and called by Coach Morris himself. Smith had over 100 tackles last season, stands 6’0 241 and ran 4.76 and jumped 35.5″. He’s another MLB.

WR Detron Lewis of Texas Tech. 6’0 198 with 4.61 speed and 37″ VJ. he was very productive at TT, playing the Wes Welker role. Perhaps another slot WR to push Stroughter/

QB Mike Coughlin, Boise St. is the ultimate definition of “Camp Arm”. Threw 9 passes last season at Boise St. as Kellen Moore’s backup. Good dize, 6’4 225, and though he is slow (5.0) he has run quite well in college.

RB Mossis Madu of Oklahoma didn’t produce much as a Sooner. he bounced between RB and WR and was suspended for the opener for a DUI. He stands 5’11 201 and runs 4.61.

Whew. And Joe thought he was crazy (and Joe was up until 1:30 a.m. this morning).

Keep in mind that Joe’s not a transaction feed. What interests Joe is what Joe writes about. But at 8 a.m. Joe has something on Madu.

  18. Brandon Says:

Nick Reveiz only played one season (like all Tennessee defenders) under Kiffin. He played in only 4 games before he was injured and lost for the season.

And interesting note about Reveiz, which makes me squeamish, is that former NFL PK Fuad Reveiz is his son. So the LB we just signed’s NFL pedigree is that of a kicker. Oh well, he runs well, has experience, is a former walk-on…forget the fact that he’s the son of a PK and 5’9 and had to have his knee redone last year.

  19. Brandon Says:

Joe, I am an UDFA/Draft Hound! I am a little upset that LB Mario Harvey is going to be a Bill and nearly every LB on my UDFA Board is gone (other than Adrian Moten, Larry Dean, Cobrani Mixon, and Eric McBride). Most of the quality DE prospects are gone too (though DE/LB tweener Keith Darbut is still around). I’m getting a little upset that most of the best (I had nearly 120 on my board) UDFAs are gone and we got one guy (Webber). What gives? I thought the Bucs ruled UDFAgency?

RB Jeremy Avery and Donald Buckram are still out there.
WR Kris Adams, DeMarco Sampson, Demario Ballard, and Armon Binns are still available
    FB Keith Payne
    TE Collin Franklin
OL Zach Hurd, WIllie Smith, Mike Smith, Zane Taylor, Cameron Bradfield, Carl Johnson, and Ray Dominguez are still there.
DE Keith Darbut, Steven Friday, Tom Keiser, and Aaron Lavarias
DT Martin Parker, Ollie Ogbu, Blaine Sumner, and Ronnell Brown
LB Larry Dean, Eric McBride, Adrian Moten, Cobrani Mixon would fit well
CB Josh Gatlin, Ryan Jones, Darrin Walls, and Chris L. Rucker are players
S Deaunta Williams and Jarrard Tarrant are there and pretty good
    P Chas Henry

There’s still some quality players out there that could make our roster and contribute. Dominik needs to get on them!

  20. Brandon Says:

Oops, I meant to say earlier that Nick Reveiz is Fuad Reveiz’s son, not the other way around….

  21. Macabee Says:

Brandon, I’m getting mildly nervous too. I’m having my 2nd cup of coffee now, I hope this gets better soon!

  22. Patrick Says:

    @ERIC

Dude, every team makes signings like these after the draft. Every time we sign a no name undrafted free agent, it seems like you always have to make those bitchy comments like “Ooooo, who the hell is this guy”?

  23. Espo Says:

    Back at Joe, good point

    He is the “Anti-Ruud” 999
