Kirwan Fires Low Blow At Winslow
July 5th, 2011Kellen Winslow has missed six games over the past five NFL seasons but none since joining the Bucs in 2009, yet Pat Kirwan, theĀ former NFL coach and executive turned analyst, skewers Winslow for his lack of durability in a ranking of tight ends on NFL.com.
Have you lost your fastball, Pat? C’mon.
Kellen Winslow, Bucs (>): If he could ever stay healthy enough to play 16 games, Winslow’s numbers would be off the charts. Still, his 143 receptions rank third among tight ends over the last two seasons.
Kirwan tiered tight ends into five levels, and Winslow was in Group B with Tony Gonzalez, Heath Miller, Zach Miller and Chris Cooley.
At least Kirwan got that right.

Hey Pat, see 2009 & 2010…

I guess catches is the only ranking for TE’s. In Winslow’s group of tightends he is by far the worst at run-blocking.

This is why I don’t listen to much of Pat writes. I don’t think he watches the Bucs, maybe once or twice. He tends to echo other’s sentiments.
1. Tony Gonzales – no question in my mind, he’s awesome, or was.
2. Antonio Gates – As good as Gonzales in every way.
3. Kellen Winslow – He’s is Mr Third Down. Super Clutch and always a threat. Production speaks for itself

Is Dallas Clark Group A? W/o Clark the Colts looked like they couldn’t move the ball.

Okay Joe so why are you so high on Kirwan again? He practically picks whatever the majority does so he doesn’t have to answer for his rationale. He also fits in the mold of a BSPN prodigy and you claim you dislike BSPN but you endorse this tree bark spokesperson at least every other week with some insignificant, mainstream NFL post. We all know Winslow numbers would be sick if he were not injured but did he not play two full seasons and put up numbers? His writing is pointless and I hate seeing him on CBS stupid game picks. Let’s see I can sum Kirwan picks,” Pats, Colts, Cowboys, Saints, Green Bay and the Ravens…no matter the opponent.” And that is credible…Geez

Capt. Tim,
Remember a while back when I said I really don’t care what Pat Kirwan says or thinks (regarding Barrett Ruud)? I was actually starting to feel like maybe I was wrong for making that statement – until I read this! What an idiot!

Too bad, Kellen Win-slow doesn’t have those excellent blocking skills to compliment his receiving. Otherwise, he might be in that first category.
