Cadillac Still Wanted
July 30th, 2011Raheem Morris continues to hope to retain key veterans. Yesterday, the head coach pined for Barrett Ruud. Today it was Cadillac Williams.
Asked whether Cadillac was still on the team’s radar, Raheem said the following at his news conference:
“There’s guys still alive. We’re talking about Cadillac, one of our leaders, a guy that brought a lot to us last year,” Raheem said. ” I know his quarterback really likes him. I know we like him in our building. He gave us a bunch of great years of service and hopefully we can get some more out of him.”
Also asked about LeGarrette Blount evolving into an every-down back, Raheem seemed disinterested but explained Blount knows the playbook and the protections right now.
“I don’t know if I’m looking for an every down back. I kinda like what we do. We kinda spread the ball around. We do different things with diferent people. We play to their strenghts. I think that’s the strength of our coaching staff,” Raheem said.
It sure seems like there’s little interest in Cadillac in free agency. Heck, on NFL Network, in Jason LaCanfora’s “Free Agent War Room,” the position board over LaCanfora’s shoulder in most reports doesn’t even have Cadillac listed under running backs.
Joe would be surprised if Cadillac doesn’t return to the Bucs. But Joe would hope the Bucs nail him down before teams start practicing in pads next week. An injury somewhere could quickly bump up demand for Caddy.

I love Caddy and this is obviously going to happen but I do think Bradshaw would be a better move. Caddy doesn’t run like he use too and we don’t need a third down back just for blocking, and inspiration. Damn.

At this point caddy would be cheap and we should bring him back. It would be wrong not to with his leadership and third down skills.

I sure wish we would’ve signed Noel Devine. Cheap, undrafted, and I think he could be another LeGarrette Blount. One of the better RB’s in the draft that fell and ended up undrafted.

I think ronnie brown would be a nice addition if hes healthy

FOR SALE!! Used Cadillac; still runs good; leaks a little oil; overhauled twice; high mileage, but good tires; dependable, always starts; price is negotiable and it’s a caddy!! —- I’M BUYING!!!

I’m buying , Too! Nothing but love respect for Caddy! I sure hope he’s back on the team. He’s a courageous young man. I believe he still has skill. He ran for over 5 yards a carry the last 6 games. I think the first of the year was more bad blocking than worn out Caddy!

@Patrick, If the Bucs are interested, you may get your wish because Noel Devine has just been cut by the Eagles. Easy come, easy go. I don’t know the reason.

prolly to sign ANOTHER proven vet.

Noel Devine was waived right?? Hell, give em a shot or maybe Bradshaw from the Giants

I like Bradshaw but really, don’t expect the Glazers to sign him. Too expensive. Plus I don’t know where he would fit in anyway. We have Blount, just drafted Bradford, and will probably sign Caddy back.
We need to throw money at a linebacker not a RB. If Caddy left, then maybe. But I don’t think it’ll happen. I’d rather sign someone like Noel Devine.

I cAN’T see Tampa not signing Cadillac Williams. He will sign cheap, and he provides plenty of intangibles to our Team.
