Sizzle: Kellen Winslow

There’s a lot to like about the Bucs as currently assembled. Of course, there’s Josh Freeman, the second-year wideouts, and there’s LeGarrette Blount. Defensively, there’s the young talent of the front four and in the secondary there’s ageless Ronde Barber.
But popular sports radio personality Adam Schein believes there is another Buccaneer that deserves props. That would be tight end Kellen Winslow. In a column on FoxSports.com, Schein describes NFL players that “sizzle” and “fizzle.”
Schein has Winslow listed under sizzle.
Because of the motorcycle accident, the rants playing at the “U” and his rips on everything pertaining to Cleveland, you don’t necessarily think of Winslow as a leader. It’s time he gets proper credit.
In our talk with Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman, he described a tight end who wanted nothing more than to be present and active in getting teammates involved for offseason work. Winslow has two homes, one in Tampa and one in California. Freeman says that Winslow rearranged schedules to be involved with Freeman’s workouts. I love it. That’s the perfect attitude.
Indeed. Joe was stunned to learn that Winslow, who usually works out in his home in San Diego during the offseason, flew cross-country to be with Freeman.
That’s not just a leader but a solid, dedicated teammate. Joe’s impressed.

Freeman and Winslow are tight. I sat next to a Cleveland Fan at Tampa Stadium last year. He hated Winslow, so the feeling is mutual.

When Freeman started his first game, that glorious throwback victory vs Green Bay, we decided to take in the pre game meal in the area where the Bucs enter.
Freeman arrived riding with Winslow in Winslow’s hummer. It seemed to me to be a very positive sign of how they get along that a established Vet took the rookie QB to the game.
A good sign now lets hope Winslow can hold up for another couple of years.

This is great news. I’m glad to hear Winslow is here and working with Freeman. I’m a fan on Winslow’s facebook page and he just said he and his wife welcomed their first son too. So congrats to the Winslows and I hope all that work with Freeman will pay off on the field this season! GO BUCS!!!

The more leaders we have on this team; the closer we’ll get to making the playoffs & continued success. Now we just need to get the same aggressive attitude and leadership on the defensive side of the ball. I’d really like to see the violent and physical play on D that Raheem promised. I think he’s already changed that motto to play smart & play fast though.

Anyone who went to Kellen’s first training camp with Tampa saw a guy who was out early and stayed late. He worked for what seemed like an eternity on the smallest details of hand and body position on catches in different circumstances. It was really impressive and shows on the field.

This could be Winslow’s best year as a Buc. Remember, he said he learned how to rehab his knee to where it’s pain free for the first time in years. That has to be good.

I think K2 will either have big catches late in games or just come on late in the year overall. The reason is I think alot of coverage will go to him and Williams early wich will free up Benn, who I expect to have a big impact early on.
Of course if the coverage is real concerned about Blount and Williams, K2 could be dominant from the get go.
WOW!!!!!!!!!! I am talking about teams having issues with the multiple weapons TB can throw at them… never thought I’d see it!

K2 has really found a home here with the Bucs & Freeman. He & Josh will only get better together. K2 may be in the running for the top TE in the NFL this year. Freeman has such great chemistry with all of his recievers & TE’s. I am anxious to see Stocker in action. But what I am most stoked about is the D line. I can’t wait to see what these guys can do together.
