Josh Freeman: No Need For “Hard Knocks”
May 28th, 2011A lot of Bucs fans spilled beer in frustration when they learned Team Glazer politely declined to have the Bucs featured in this year’s edition of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
But it seems Bucs star quarterback Josh Freeman endorses the denial. Speaking with video star Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune, Freeman said the team doesn’t need the distractions the HBO crew would create.
“Obviously, it was going to be a distraction having HBO cameras,” Freeman said. “You have guys who are trying to show out and going out of character a little bit. For our team, obviously I’m not going to disagree with Raheem (Morris), Mark Dominik or the Glazers.”
Interestingly, when Richardson asked Freeman if he was concerned the Bucs won’t get the proper exposure without appearing on “Hard Knocks,” Freeman responded he was more concerned about wins.
In Joe’s eyes, that’s the perfect response.

Yep. The perfect response. Beat other teams and the exposure will come. The knuckleheads can keep their personality-based media hype. I want hard-working joes who grind away and win titles.

Why does anyone think they are seeing ‘reality’ in these shows anyway? The players and coaches all know the cameras are there. Just like the miked up shows, the players know everything they say is being recorded, they probably spend a lot of time writing what they are going to say on game day when that happens.
Nobody acts the same on camera as off, it’s just human nature.

That #5 is akin to an “S” for Superman. Josh is my Hero.
