Indicted!
May 27th, 2011It is now official. As Joe suspected previously, troubled Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib has been indicted by a Texas grand jury, charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon for his alleged involvement in pistol whipping a man and shooting at (and missing) the fleeing subject.
The case moves to Dallas County’s criminal district court No. 2 under elected judge Don Adams.
If found guilty, Talib could be sentenced to incarceration in a Texas penitentiary, potentially up to 20 years, and his days as a Bucs cornerback would surely be over.
Joe will keep you up to speed on all the developments. As Joe has written before, this indictment comes as no surprise. What would be a surprise is if Talib’s case actually goes to trial.
Joe looks for Talib to cut a deal, if he can get his charges reduced to a misdemeanor and avoid the slammer.

No GSR, one very questionable witness, and Momma claims she did the shooting, this doesn’t even leave the ADAs office.

Judge Don Adams???
Who is his clerk, Agent 99?
“Oh, Mr. Talib, you have been sentenced to 20 years. Sorry about that Chief!”

The indictment was all Roger Godell needs to unleash the fury of the Comish’s office. Even if it plea bargains down to a misdemeanor, his past record gets him a years suspension. He was suspended At the start of last season for 5 games. Here we are a year later- deja vu’ – only a gun involved this time.
Still think we can get somebody who wants to play 16 games a season. I realize that’s a lot to ask for 5 million a year . . .

“If found guilty, Talib could be sentenced to incarceration in a Texas penitentiary, potentially up to 20 years, and his days as a Bucs cornerback would surely be over.” Are you sure about that Joe? He would only be in his early 40’s when he gets out and without the wear and tear on his body he just might be able to play. Come to think of it, Ronde will probably still be on the other side! 😉

If the “a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich” statement is true, I am not that worried. But I do agree with capt Tim that this gives the green light to goodell to come down hard.
But if he is found innocent or pleas down, no way goodell can suspend even close to a yr. Also the new cba will surely address his warden like tactics. We just need to find out what the evidence is against him.

If he pleas out his next big problem is the Commish….bet that is going to cost him & the team a lot of playing time.

Uh, no, he was only suspended for only one game. I would guess the warden will give him 4-8 games this season, assuming he is not found guilty.

he has been suspended one time for one game, and he is definitely high in the mugshot

What that a Texas penal system jumpsuit or a Bucs throwback jersey in that picture?

Hey Maybe Talib can get together with T Jackson and Plexaco Burris and start their own band – the OUTLAWS.
Or maybe they can start their own clothing line – prison orange is us!
Maybe a made for TV movie – the Busted Boys of Summer!

Snook, yeah, I’m still leaning that way. Enough is enough distractions from this guy. Up to this event, I stayed On his side. But this was the proverbial straw for me. And I think Godell. He’s gonna look at the game suspension, which Talib violated by attending the game. Then the report sent about Aqib being restrained from attacking the Refs. Now this. And that’s was JUST LAST SEASON! He already had files , starting with the fight at his very first NFL event, the rookie symposium.
I think trying to replace him for half the season is more trouble than just replacing him period. He hasn’t learned, and isn’t a great CB to begin with
Fluuuuuush.
