Warren Sapp Already Pitching In

April 30th, 2011

Former Bucs great Warren Sapp is a Bucs legend through and through. Those his playing days are long over, he’s trying his best to help out.

Last year much was made of Warren Sapp taking a good chunk of his time to work out with Gerald McCoy at One Buc Palace.

It looks like Sapp plans to do the same with Da’Quan Bowers. On Twitter last night, Sapp reached out to Bowers and it looks as if Sapp wants to get rolling with Bowers.

@QBKILLA: @DaQuanBowers93 Gotta a Few Things For You Young Fella!!

Joe just thinks this is cool that Sapp is still trying to help the Bucs return to their glory days, despite the fact he can’t helpĀ on the field.

Why haven’t we hired this guy as some kind of consultant or assistant D Line coach??? Not many people know as much as Sapp. And we have a potential superstar D Line. Nothing could help mentor all of them more than Sapp.

Tampa just traded up!!!! Hope its a good pick!!

OMFG….LUKE STOCKER???? With Hunter, Rogers, Burney, Sturdivant all there we take a TE. You have to have two solid RB’s to be successful. We have ONE. We need a Will and Sturdivant is nuts, watch his tape. And our CB core is garbage right now. 75 year old Rhonde, and Biggers. Lewis is the only one I like. Wow…WTF!!!

    Calm down Funky Monkey.

Running backs are a dime a dozen. As both the Bucs and the Saints proved last year, there are all kinds of good running backs walking the streets after the draft.

This pick tells Joe the Bucs may have a hint of concern with Winslow’s knee. Remember last year how he could rarely practice early in the season?

    Funky Monkey:

Joe’s guessing Sapp enjoys his fulltime gig much better, and is likely getting paid more with the NFL Network than an assistant coach will.

  6. Sander Says:

@Funky Monkey: you can’t hire a guy who doesn’t want to be hired. He’s said several times that he really doesn’t want to be a coach.

@Joe: Sapp also contacted Clayborn on twitter

  7. Joe Says:

Thanks Sander I will hunt that down.

I think Sapp fill’s a helpful role for the Bucs as it is now, in an unofficial position. He’s a mentor, who can work on his own time with the players he deems appropriate.

The fact that he still reaches out to new players in the Bucs organization is fantastic though; show’s he’s still compassionate about the team… even if he does dog us pretty hard on Inside the NFL every week lol.

Hahah I hope he turns into won of those guys at 70 years old still scaring the hell outta fresh green DLing rookies. Kind of like Joe Namath does for new Jets’ QBs, only terrifying.
