Shelton Quarles Arrested

March 4th, 2011

The wee hours and Tampa roads continue to be a bad combination for the Bucs.

At 2:48 a.m. today, Shelton Quarles was arrested for driving under the influence and hauled off to jail at Orient Road. He was arrested near Ashley Drive and I-275 in Tampa and, per the St. Pete Times, refused a blood alcohol test.

Joe sincerely hopes Quarles was nothing more than tired after watching endless film of CFL players, or something like that, and not toasting hopeful lockout news. After the Mike Williams debacle, Joe wants to see the videotape.

    Check this out from NFP.com

Quarles is subject to discipline under the league’s personal conduct policy. Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand was suspended for 30 days and fined $100,000 following his DUI bust last summer.

Imagine if we lose our director of Pro Scouting right when Free Agency starts .. UnF*****n believable

  2. lightningbuc Says:

Oh God! Now, for the next week, we’ll have to hear how Duemig beat his charge, how DUI’s are a scam and a conspiracy, how cops have it out for the rest of us, blah blah blah.

  3. jvato24 Says:

Lightningbuc .. It has to be a conspiracy as former Buc Jeremy Stevens was also arrested for Felony Battery last night!!

  4. lightningbuc Says:

Jerramy Stevens got arrested last night as well. And with Dukes still in jail down there, it’s a TB pro sports reunion down at the clink. Man, the Lightning are lame – they never have anyone get arrested.

  5. lightningbuc Says:

jvato – just saw that myself. Yeah, with Stevens record as a choir boy, I’m sure he’s innocent too!

  6. jvato24 Says:

Lightningbuc … Im sure this is a misunderstanding ..

Maybe the guy offered to buy him a beer, and Stevens thought he called him a queer

    Or

Maybe the guy owed Stevens money from a deal a few weeks ago
Im sure this will be cleared up

“Man, the Lightning are lame – they never have anyone get arrested.”
That’s because they let them settle those “battery-type” assaults on the ice, during the games!

  8. oar Says:

I owed a drug dealer once, ONCE!

  9. Pete Dutcher Says:

I will withhold judgement until the results are in on whether he was actually under the influence. In a lot of cases, if they issue a field sobriety test, it’s already been decided you will be arrested.

  10. lightningbuc Says:

Well, he was doing 79 in a 55, and oh yeah, didn’t have his headlights on either. Probably probable cause to issue a field sobriety test, don’t you think Pete?

  11. eric Says:

That refusal trigers a 90 day suspension of his DL.

Can’t get a hardship license till thats completed unless you win a probable cause hearing at the DMV, which is rare.

Too bad for him, seems like a good guy.

  12. BigMacAttack Says:

Wow, 79 in a 55 eh??? no lights???

Can’t fault the cops with that one. WTG Shelton

So you say 30 days and $100,000 fine? That cab ride looks pretty cheap from here. I still like the idea of calling a tow-truck to have him take you an your vehicle. $150 should cover it, don’t you think? This does wonders for the team image…. and the lockout hasn’t even started yet.

  13. Theodore Says:

More proof that government regulation kills jobs. Having to comply with speed restrictions and headlight safety rules may cost Quarles his job.

And don’t get me started on the huge public union government bureaucracy used to enforce these overbearing regulations.

  14. DieHard Bob Says:

Shelton was obviously not booked by a Bucs fan since they have his occupation listed as “player”. Maybe he was demoted already.

  15. oar Says:

Yeah, who needs headlights in the middle of the night anyways?
Seriously, maybe he’s part feline or Predator?

Very large contrast to your Jerramy Stevens post.

    /objectivity fail

  17. jvato24 Says:

Wait a minute … Isnt it true any Crimes that happen after CBA deadline are not pressable against NFL employees or is that just players ???

  18. Macabee Says:

Would the government be over-reaching if it required all 2012 cars to be equipped with on-board breathalyzers so your car won’t start unless you blow under the limit? Then we would not just borrow battery cables to get a jump, we would have to stop a kid on a bicycle to borrow a blow so we could get home!

  19. Joe Says:

Players only jvato. Quarles is a full-time employee of the Bucs. He is no longer a union guy.

  20. espo Says:

This is a shame. He was one of the good guys. I’m still a fan though. His drunk self could still out play Ruud. Yeah, I started it…..

  21. BigMacAttack Says:

Headlights really are over-rated and running lights are so much better for night vision if you must have something. The drunk thing I don’t agree with, but I’m all for driving without lights. Unfortunately, most sober people here shouldn’t even be allowed to drive in the daylight.

  22. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m still a Quarles’ fan too. Isn’t this his first public mistake ever.

  23. Ralph Says:

Funny how this site shows a picture of Stephens but uses handcuffs on the other story!
