Greg Olson Wins
January 23rd, 2011Good guy Stephen Holder believes that offensive coordinator Greg Olson won a power struggle within the walls of One Buc Palace that led to the ouster of former offensive line coach Pete Mangurian. Holder details in this St. Petersburg Times video.

Well I doubt the haters who have been crying about this firing and blaming it on Raheem will come eat their crow now. It doesn’t matter what Mangurian did or did not accomplish with that offensive line. Obviously any coordinator is going to want his own guys underneath him. Its just basic common sense that this offense should only get better now that the offensive line coach is going to be on the same page as the coordinator, teaching things the way Greg Olson wants them taught.

The refs in the NFL are just so bad. Incompetent, blind, stupid, the list goes on. They so rarely seem to get any close play right the first time.

Olsen did a great job with the offense this year. It’s his call who is his assistants. Good move!

Why this kind of culture among thia divided coaching staff? I was suspicious that the established coaches like biasaccia and mangurian would find it difficult to work under the gross inexperience of rah rah and to some extent olsen, but less so.
I guess I was on to something – first with biasaccia’s “i get to work with two great football minds in Gruden and Turner” whoops just ommitted by prior teenage boss, and now mangurian let go after doing an amazing job.
I sure hope this replacement doesnt speak up b/c it appears that he has some experience which makes rah rah real nervous.
If I was rah rah, I would keep canning the experienced assistants also, a) it makes it look like you think the problem’s are their fault b) you eliminate threats (like biasaccia) who are more deserving of respect and your job.

This is purely speculative, but often wondered if the glazers spoke with any other potential head coaches about the job before hiring rah rah.
I wondered if they “unoffically” did a lowest bidder type discussion with candidates which may have irked established coaches for lowering the salary demands of the job.
There is a reason why they never made his salary public during 2009-10 – the only hc in the league.

Did Josh Freeman just make the Pro Bowl after that Green Bay win? Isn’t he the alternate and Rodgers is out?

Michael Vick, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan all made the pro bowl. Rodgers and Freeman didn’t. I’m sure all 3 of them will be at the pro bowl and even if one is out I’m not sure who the first alternate would be.
Kellen Winslow also deserves to go instead of Tony Gonzalez. Aqib Talib had 4 more INT’s than Charles Woodson and he only played 11 games this year. Hell, we could actually make an argument for Ronde. He had the 2 INT’s just like Woodson did.

I like Greg Olson, and have faith in him, and his offense. Normally, I say if it aint broke, don’t fix it, Tampa went 10 and 6 last year.

The coordinators are bringing on their “guy or type guy they want working with them. That is HUGE to be on the same page, so good moves.
As far as the Pro Bowl, I’m not going to sweat it. These guys will prove even more in the seasons to come.

Old thomas has his panties in a bunch again blaming it on the token black guy. when all is said and done he will make people forget about gruden. This is a young mans league coach tomlin is on his way to to Lombardi’s another token in the eyes of thomas he’s a Dungy deciple who gruden ran away

Just more proof that this was a good move. It’s not good when the O-line coach and the OC have different philosophies. That ain’t gonna work.
