A Pro Bowl Ballot Revealed
December 28th, 2010Manly men will enjoy tonight’s Pro Bowl selection show exclusively on NFL Network. The curtain comes off on the NFC and AFC Pro Bowl rosters sometime after 7 p.m.
Joe’s not expecting any Bucs to make it, although Donald Penn and Ronde Barber have outside shots.
While it feels nice to have Pro Bowlers, what the hell is it really worth if a healthy Derrick Brooks made the Pro Bowl after the 2008 season and then was unemployed the following season?
NFL.com analyst and former player personnel executive Pat Kirwan revealed and explained his 2010 votes on NFL.com. One Bucs player got Kirwan’s nod: Aqib Talib.
Kirwan also voted for Packers cornerback Tramon Williams and Eagles CB Asante Samuel.
Maybe Talib has a shot after all? Joe would be stunned, since Talib will have missed a third of the season.
December 28th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
ummm…..Donald Penn is FAR from a pro-bowl caliber player. I believe the Detroit game should have made that painfully obvious to everyone. If he makes it, it will be single handedly due to his ability to hype himself. I went on a lengthy rant about this in the post about Penn already running his mouth to the Saints but I won’t repeat that here.
December 28th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Talib, on the other hand, undoubtedly played at a pro bowl level and could make it if enough people voted before he went down. Its a shame he got hurt, both for our playoff chances and his individual accolades. I have no doubt he would have finished the season with another 3-4 picks and the Bucs would have cremed Detroit with him blanketing Megatron. Ahhhh…..what could have been.
December 28th, 2010 at 6:55 pm
Guys usually make the Pro Bowl the year after they deserve it….Talib will be a shoo in next yr
December 28th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
K-2?
December 28th, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Josh Freeman and Mike Williams.
Those are the two that should make it.
Maybe Spurlock also for kick returns.
December 28th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
Josh Freeman for Pro Bowl?
Hahahahhahahahaha…….
I guess you haven’t been watching Tom Brady or Mike Vick?
Freeman’s doing well but he’s not there yet.
As for Mike Williams…..kids a rookie so outside the NFC South no one knows him. He’s doing really well but this year the Bucs SHOULD get blanked with ProBowl nominations.
Seriously
December 28th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
Connor Barth and Josh Freeman should go to the pro bowl
December 28th, 2010 at 7:42 pm
But the Bucs get ZERO attention, so I don’t expect anyone selected to the pro bowl. Even though we have a quite a few players that deserve it.
Connor Barth has been money all year. He’s 20 for 25 attempts, or 80% for the year. And two of those misses were on blocked kicks. He’s been awesome from 50+ yards.
Josh Freeman has had a pro bowl caliber year. He’s thrown 23 TD’s, only 6 INT’s, and currently has a rating of 93.6. How are those not pro bowl stats?
If LeGarrette Blount had started from the beginning of the year, he probably would’ve had a 1200 or 1300 yard season and gone to the pro bowl.
Mike Williams has had a great year but his stats aren’t amazing compared to the other elite guys in the league. He’s only gonna get better over the offseason so he should be a strong candidate next year.
Sadly, even if Aqib Talib had been healthy for the remainder of the year, I think he would’ve been snubbed out of the pro bowl.
Kellen Winslow has had yet another good year at TE. He’s probably the most popular player on the Bucs so I think he should have a shot.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:11 pm
The only thing more worthless than a Pro Bowl pick is an All-Star pick in baseball. I can’t remember the last time I watched a Pro Bowl football game. Screw them.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:16 pm
No bucs on the pro bowl roster. Next year i expect we get a few, especially since we may have more nationally shown games and such (if there is football).
December 28th, 2010 at 8:24 pm
Fact: The Pro Bowl voting is all based on names, not performance.
You can call me crazy all you want, but it seems like Drew Brees is a lock every year. Josh Freeman has better stats than him and he probably didn’t even get consideration for being one of the pro bowl QB’s. There’s no disputing Michael Vick and Matt Ryan getting in though.
I really love it how the Redskins, the 2-13 PANTHERS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, Cardinals, and a bunch of other s*** teams got pro bowl love and we didn’t. And we’re a team that’s competing for a playoff spot.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:25 pm
cant believe ZERO Bucs were announced, TB never gets the respect at all. We better at least get 2 MNF games next year with all the young studs we have.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:28 pm
I didnt feel anyone deserved to get in the pro bowl this year. remember voting was done last week meaning freeman did not have the stats he has now. and he is the only one that i would have considered if i was a voter.
December 28th, 2010 at 8:57 pm
Adrian Peterson is 11th in rushing stats with a lower per carry avg than Blount and he got in. Enough said. Aholes.
December 28th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
The Bucs were worthy of having at least ONE player in the pro bowl this year.
Everybody out there needs to realize that this is bull. Thousands of voters out there just sit at their computers and vote for everyone on their favorite team hundreds or even thousands of times.
December 28th, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Might be a little added incentive for the NO game.
Remember when all those bucs made the pro-bowl under Dungy and then ent and got blown out by the Giants?
Could have the opposite effect here.
December 28th, 2010 at 9:06 pm
Look at it this way:
At least we no one of our stars won’t get injured before training camp!!!
December 28th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Yes the bucs have some guys on the verge of stardom who fell just short of pro bowl caliber years but I have no problem with none of our players making the pro-bowl. It just shows how these guys truly play as a team. When you have backups and marginal talents in many spots helping you to a 9-7/10-6 record then its all about team. Look how many big names are on the Vikings but they couldn’t pull it together and win games like the Buccaneers Motley Crew has!!!
December 28th, 2010 at 10:19 pm
@Derf
Freeman has a better QB rating than Vick. Freeman has more Passing TDs and the same amount of INTS…
…oh yeah and he’s had one less Federal Indictment…
December 28th, 2010 at 10:20 pm
errr…not true on the QB rating, after just checking
December 28th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
Oh yea and Adrian is a fumbling machine. Any doubt the Vikings would have been in the Super Bowl last year except for Adrian’s fumbles against the Saints? He was aweful again this year. Who would you prefer to have playing for the Bucs? Adrian or Blount? I’m not saying Blount should have made the Pro Bowl this year. But I am saying he deserved it over Peterson.
December 28th, 2010 at 10:38 pm
AP didn’t fumble at all until tonight. Plus he’s tied for the lead in TD’s and he’s only 150 yards off the lead and he missed a game and a half. Adrian Peterson definitely deserves a pro bowl nod. You guys are delusional.
December 28th, 2010 at 10:40 pm
I think Blount has been one of the best running backs in the NFL since he started being the feature back. But he currently just doesn’t have the stats to get in. If he had started from week 1 to now, he would’ve made it for sure.
He probably would’ve had an 1200 yard season or even better.
December 28th, 2010 at 10:40 pm
I see Matty Ice melted at the end of the game last night You give Freeman the same D production The Iceman has backing him up and The Buccaneers have 14 wins
December 28th, 2010 at 10:42 pm
Don’t get so worked up some of you, the Pro Bowl is a F’ing joke. Everybody knows it. It’s a popularity contest. Hell, some years there are players voted in that didn’t even play a half a season. I have never watched a Pro Bowl game and never plan to.
December 28th, 2010 at 10:43 pm

After looking at every player on the Bucs roster, there are 4 people that you could make a serious argument for.
Freeman, K2, Penn and Talib
Donald Penn has consistently shut down some of the best pass rushers in the league and has had a very good year.
K2 has had another great year with 63 catches for 701 yards, and 5 TD’s (should’ve been 6 if he hadn’t been screwed out of that TD by the refs in the lions game). He’s had a better year than Tony Gonzalez and should’ve gone to the pro bowl instead of him.
Aqib Talib had a fantastic season this year (better than some of Ronde’s pro bowl seasons) and without him in our secondary we wouldn’t be where we are right now. He has 40 tackles and 6 INT’s.
Freeman has a better rating than Drew Brees and if you want his stats, he has passed for 3,196 yards, 23 TD’s, only 6 INT’s and has a QB rating of 93.6.
I think next year we should have at least 3 or 4 players in the pro bowl.
December 28th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Dew,
Take out the AFC players, MORON!!!
And that’s not counting the yardage he has tonight.
December 28th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
And another fumble fool.
December 28th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
Looks like the eagles are mailing it it near the end of the season, as usual.
December 28th, 2010 at 11:33 pm
Vote already happened S**T for Brains…
December 28th, 2010 at 11:36 pm
Dew, you’re arguing against a guy with one fumble all season. You’re a complete f*****g moron.
December 28th, 2010 at 11:49 pm
Glorified Popularity Contest. It goes hand in hand with the NFL network. Teams that get the most publicity get the most votes. Is it any wonder that Jerry Jone is chairman of the NFL Network? I think Donald Penn should have been on the team. K2 has been better than Witten this year.
I can’t wait until the Game this week in New Orleans to watch the refs totally screw the Bucs. I am somewhat looking forward to a Lockout in hopes that maybe they will end up with all new Zebra crews, that are not spiteful, corrupt, blind, stupid, drunk, and completely incompetent morons.
December 29th, 2010 at 12:14 am
on another note. The eagles are about to lose, meaning chicago clinched bye, can they still get #1 seed? If they can’t this viking loss basically eliminated us as the packers will be playing a chicago team with nothing to play for.
December 29th, 2010 at 12:20 am
@Simeon
Lovie said he will play for the win. If some how Carolina beats ATL and Chicago beats Green Bay, Chicago can get the number 1 seed.
December 29th, 2010 at 12:28 am
Chicago has the luxury of knowing the outcome of the ATL game prior to kickoff. Despite lovies talk, i bet they hold back to some extent knowing they are in #2 seed.
December 29th, 2010 at 1:31 am
Chicago doesnt want the pack in the playoffs. im pretty sure they wouldnt want to risk facing them.
December 29th, 2010 at 2:04 am
Bucs get a win in New orleanes would be awesome and playoffs would be a bonus. If bucs make playoffs we would be at Philly
December 29th, 2010 at 2:25 am
Well I just saw that Freeman k2 and Penn are all alternatives in the pro bowl. U never know.
