“Laugh At The NFC”
November 3rd, 2010Joe is bringing his readers a treat this morning. Sadly, no, it’s not news of Joe’s never-ending quest to lure Rachel Watson into his lair. Rather, it’s a rare video sighting of noted Tampa Tribune columnist Martin Fennelly.
In this TBO video, Fennelly has a sitdown with his colleague eye-RAH! Kaufman, to discuss the prospects of the Bucs making it to the postseason.
Please watch the video and by all means break down Fennelly’s analysis.

Fennelly ‘analysis’? Give me a break. The guy’s body language displays one simple fact – he doesn’t believe in the Bucs record at all!
You think it would kill him to dress properly instead of looking like he stepped off the beach – geez.
Instead of talking about the Bucs record of 5-2 he says maybe its more of a statement about the rest of the NFC? Like maybe the scheduling has some effect?
To Ira – good move buddy. The best way to make yourself look better is to bring a slug onboard – excellent move. As far as your ‘original research’ of the 5-2 teams making the playoffs 67% of the time I LIKE that.
However talking playoffs NOW is still a little premature. If the Bucs beat the Falcons – THEN rollout the bandwagon but so far for the Bucs so good.
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:21 am
Hey Joe so where has Fennelly been lately? Looking at his disholved/ragtag appearance a rehab facility?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:53 am
Hey Joe where’s the story on Al Woods. 4th round pick from this year’s draft. He’s a 317 lbs run stopping DT. The Saints took him in the 4th, but put him on the PS, the Stealers stole him, now we have stolen him from the Steelers’ PS. That’s about all I know. Where’s the scoop?

JDouble:
Until or unless this guy actually does something in an NFL game, Joe has better things to write about. You know Joe’s about topics, not transactions.
Hard for Joe to get worked up over a guy that was on a practice squad in November, meaning every NFL team took a pass on adding the guy to the active roster in September. Joe can’t exactly classify a guy not on an active roster as “a steal.”
Let him get a few snaps and do something on the field of play and Joe might write about him. Same with that guy that the Bucs already cut once and can’t seem figure out what position he should play, defensive end, offensive line, tight end… this Lorig character. Yawn.
November 3rd, 2010 at 9:22 am
I agree with joe.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:23 am
I WILL be coaching at the Pro Bowl.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:27 am
Hey Joe, guess what our best running back was aquired by a “transaction”
he was UNDRAFTED, then RELEASED.
Guess what, 32 teams passed on him twice and hes the talk of the nfl week 9.

Travis:
And Joe wrote about him when… he did something.
There’s a reason why you have seen scant news about this guy the Bucs just signed. For all intents and purposes, he’s a ghost. Joe doesn’t write about junior varsity guys and walk-ons, sorry. Joe’s in business to attract eyeballs, not bore people to death and chase people away.
Joe writes about topics, not transactions. When/if this guy does something, then you’ll see Joe write about him. Until then, anything about someone who not even the worst of NFL teams saw fit to put on their active roster in November is beyond a bore.
I’m sure you can find a cache version of a rivals.com bio to suffice until then.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:53 am
Joe is telling the truth, he was not excited about Blount at all until he showed his wrecking ball ways.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:54 am
Hmmm… and I thought you had a post about the Bucs signing Brandon Carter too. You know, a practice squad guy that was passed up by 32 teams and cut and signed to our practice squad and hasn’t done anything on the NFL field either. Oh well, guess you can pick and choose which transactions to talk about, we can just pull up a search online and find info about him elsewhere.
November 3rd, 2010 at 11:03 am
BamBamBuc:
Bingo!
Joe wrote about Brandon Carter because there was a story. Joe had written about him before and Gil Brandt talked this guy up and Carter actually did something significant on a football field that was related to the Bucs. Huge difference.
Look, it’s Joe’s blog. If Joe finds a subject boring — and nothing is more boring to Joe than the Bucs signing some nondescript scrub that not even the Buffalo Bills saw fit to sign — Joe’s not wasting his time with it. Joe’s already wasted enough time on this guy just typing replies. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
If he does something on the football field, Joe will write about him. Until then, Joe is confident a Google search will come up with a rivals.com bio to satisfy those hungry to learn about a player no one wanted outside of an emergency.
In short, if you want to read about the Bucs signing someone 98 percent of the citizens of the Tampa Bay area couldn’t pick out of a lineup, Joe’s not your first stop for that.

Joe wrote: “In short, if you want to read about the Bucs signing someone 98 percent of the citizens of the Tampa Bay area couldn’t pick out of a lineup, Joe’s not your first stop for that”
Are you implying that this guy’s going to appear in a line-up like Jermaine Phillips, Talib et. al?
How lucky will Al Davis be then? Imagine getting busted in Tampa and no one, including Joe, knows? 😉

Well that “lorig character” has been absolutely great at fullback for the past 3 weeks. It might be safe to write about him now.
November 3rd, 2010 at 11:58 am
jdouble:
Please define “great.” He hasn’t done a thing that has made Joe think he’s any better than Earnest Graham or the second coming of Lorenzo Neal.
Just because someone wears a Bucs jersey does not warrant a story, sorry, not in Joe’s eyes. That’s Little League tripe. Should Joe buy Lorig and this Harris guy a trophy too?
Please explain in great detail why Joe should wax poetic over Lorig, and bore all but two readers to death?
Joe’s done writing about scrubs for the day. In total, it’s about 45 minutes of Joe’s life thrown away.
November 3rd, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Joe- I think if Stylez White visiting a strip club can be considered a topic Bucs fans care about, then the latest addition to the roster, however unknown the guy is, should be considered newsworthy. I mean you aren’t going to bore us away because here we are saying we’d like to see the story. Obviously us posters would like to discuss these issues of minor transactions. What else is there to talk about mid-week. Maybe we can have yet another post about Raheem Moris “best in the NFC” comment? With Price on IR and the coaching staff not scared to play young unknowns you better believe we will probably see this guy on the field this year.

The poor smucks who frequent this place could argue all day about the , otherwise irrelevant, Mr.Woods! We think all things Buc are big desf

The poor smucks who frequent this place could argue all day about the , otherwise irrelevant, Mr.Woods! We think all things Buc are big deal! Besides, Joe, you could wax poetic all day long about Backup center Mr. Zuttah! We all have our obsessions! We wanna know every new player on the roster! With the Luck Dominnick has been having, the guy could be our next star!!

Joe has a hunch there’s going to be no shortage of discussion items tomorrow.
November 3rd, 2010 at 6:28 pm
Joe,
Just so you know, a FB’s number one job is to block. I know alot of folks here in Tampa think Alstott was a great FB. He wasn’t. He was a great RB, and an ok FB. I don’t know if you’re expecting Lorig to have big runs like Alstott to be considered great, but he has been taking guys off thier feet in run blocking. He’s been very quick and strong hitting guys like a torpedo. Knocking LBs and even DEs on thier ars. He’s played a key role in some of Blount’s big runs. In the Rams game he had one play where he knocked a blitzing LB on his ars and then proceded to pancake the DE. I think that is pretty great for a converted DE/TE that has only played in three games.

It’s pretty amazing that you consider some of the garbage you put on here to be news worthy, but a new addition to the Bucs roster is not.
For the record, both Al Woods and Doug Worthington are better players than Kyle Moore is. Most Buc fans would probably be interested in hearing about them…but I guess they have to go elsewhere to get that type of in depth Bucs coverage, cause you don’t cover “scrubs”
Absolutely baffling Joe.

JDouble:
Actually, if you see Joe’s traffic numbers, it’s not baffling. Joe started out two years ago with zero traffic. Now he gets the eyeballs of a small daily newspaper. Joe believes he has a pulse on what Bucs fans want to read and chat about. Joe’s traffic reinforces Joe’s news judgement virtually each day.

That’s nice Joe and I’m happy for you and your success. You offer a different atmosphere than most Bucs sites and it’s nice most of the time.
However, just because what you are doing is working well for you, doesn’t mean it’s perfect or can’t be improved. If you don’t think the Buc fans that visit this site would like a quick write up on a new player, or atleast a “Hey we signed this guy, here is a paragraph about him” when we make a roster move, then you don’t know half as much as you think you do.
The whole opinionated gossip column feel of this site works well to bring people in, but that doesn’t mean we don’t also like to be notified about small boring details like signing a new player to our roster.

Joe likes to tell people he’s sort of the written version of sports radio. Let’s take it from there. You know how much run this guy the Bucs just signed got on local radio? Nada. Nothing. Zip. As least when the team signed Blount there was something to write about. He had a story. Same with Larsen, only because he was a local guy.
Now if this new guy had a hot model/cheerleader girlfriend/wife, THAT is buzz. Joe would write all about that (photos required).
What’s there to write about this guy the Bucs signed other than regurgitating his college stats and who drafted him? The last thing Joe wants to do — and won’t — is to be dry and boring. Besides, again, Joe can’t get worked up over a guy that was let go by two NFL teams this season already and the worst team in the NFL didn’t see fit to pick him up in September. Doesn’t mean he won’t turn out to be something, but do something first. Then Joe might write about you.
Besides, football isn’t baseball. Baseball, promoting a guy, there’s usually something there. He’s done something in the minors to warrant a call-up. A practice squad guy is nothing more than a breathing tackling dummy.
Look at the reaction Joe got to a guy the Bucs didn’t sign, Merriman? That’s buzz. That’s a story.
Joe’s only got so much time in the day. There’s plenty of things to write about if Joe had more time. Just not a transaction one-liner.
