Kellen Winslow Re-Emerges
November 14th, 2010In recent games, Bucs tight end Kellen Winslow has been seen, but his name has not been heard from the lips of Gene Deckerhoff much. This past week, chatter from One Buc Palace seemed to infer that the Bucs were going to get K2 involved in the offense a bit more.
Boy, that wasn’t misinformation.
Winslow may have had his best game of the season since the Bucs first played Carolina in September. He had six catches for 65 yards but two in particular came in the second quarter.
Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman looked like he was forcing a pass to Winslow when the Bucs veteran had Panther defenders draped on his back. Luckily, the Panthers got called for interference.
In nearly a repeat of that pass, Freeman found Winslow in the end zone sandwiched between two defenders. Somehow, Winslow fought through the interference and still caught the ball for a 20-yard score.
Joe is starting to get concerned. Concerned for opposing defenses. With LeGarrette Blount opening up the running game and Arrelious Benn now showing why he was a high draft pick, if Winslow gets hot, that just means defenders will have to play more honest, meaning more single coverage for everyone.
That my friends is a good thing.

@JOE….Winslow was bada@$ today, no doubt and I loved it. Just have 1 question for ya. Was it me or was it that every time I turned around was biggers getting burned. Whats his deal? I dont know much about him but damn he did not look good. Let me know your thoughts on him, maybe its just me nitpicking. I just hated to see the dumba@$ penalties and plays such as the ” letting the ball touch you on punts” type play(not biggers, just in general). Either way it was a HUGE win and one we needed to keep pace..

Actually, Buc40, it was usually Mack getting burned. Biggers didn’t have a bad day. I kinda hope they activate Myron Lewis next week and deactivate Mack.

Yup it was a rough day for Mack that’s for sure. I sure hope Lewis is activated for next Sunday. This buc offense is going to be amazing. Freeman has a shot at the pro bowl and playoffs. Sad times to be a hater these days. Lol

It’s nice to read about Kellen earning his money – finally.
now will Kellen step it up against a good team like the Ravens?

Mr.Lucky, unfortunately Kellen cant throw the ball to himself, otherwise I’m sure he would be doing a lot better this season. He can only do so much with the opportunities he gets and he has been opening things up for other guys by attracting so much attention. And wasn’t this the guy who was leading the league in 3rd down catches?? I love how fair weather fans have so much to say yet they dont really know the game.
