“He Ain’t No Matt Ryan”
November 4th, 2010Roddy White fired some smack at Aqib Talib, as Joe wrote earlier, and the Falcons wide receiver also went after Raheem Morris and Josh Freeman.
Chris Harry of Fanhouse.com delivered the news.
“Their coach is digging them a big hole, saying that stuff, man,” Falcons wideout Roddy White told FanHouse. “Best team in NFC? C’mon. They lost to New Orleans — bad. And they still have to play us. It looks like they got a pretty good quarterback down there, but he ain’t no Matt Ryan. The defense is creating turnovers and all that. That’s cool. But we feel as though we’re going to be ready and prepared.”
That’s not bulletin board material for the Bucs locker room. It’s freakin’ wallpaper.
White’s not just running his mouth, he’s going after arguably the Bucs’ primary leaders.
Yes, the Falcons are an excellent team, probably better than the Bucs. But Atlanta also squandered a 24-3 halftime lead at home to Cincinnati in their last game. And the Bucs played them down to the final seconds in Atlanta last year.
The Bucs are surely capable of shutting up White, even if they struggle to stop the run.

I know we can beat them, I just hope we do. GOOO BUCS!!!
November 4th, 2010 at 11:18 am
Alright Roddy, now it’s time for war. Well Bucs, if this don’t get you fired up I don’t know what will.
November 4th, 2010 at 11:18 am
Stun em’ in Hotlanta, early xmas present for the fans….
November 4th, 2010 at 11:33 am
So first he shot his mouth about Talib… a better CB than any they have.
Then he attacked the Head Coach…
Then he dissed Freeman…
Get that man a megaphone and a shovel!!!!! Let him keep digging the hole and shouting about it!!
Idiot.
I don’t know if the Bucs will win or not, but they are on the fast track to be a contender for YEARS so he should kep his mouth shut.
November 4th, 2010 at 11:41 am
Looks like someone doesn’t know when to shut up. There’s always one. And the media will fan the flames of this one until it’s roaring. yay.
November 4th, 2010 at 11:41 am
This is good stuff! Loving seeing a Lil rivalry developing in the NFC South. We can definately beat Atlanta. I think we will. White is putting a lot of pressure on himself and his team. 6-2 would be an unthinkable improvement from last year. But it looks possible from here! Hope McCoy is back at practice today, that would be a big hit!
November 4th, 2010 at 11:54 am
Roddy is right people! Josh Freeman is no Matt Ryan.
Josh can actually play well on the road!!!!! Matty’s ice melts outside of the Georgia Dome. GO BUCS!!!!!
November 4th, 2010 at 11:56 am
The Falcons are not that good.
I don’t know why I seem to be the only person that doesn’t see that. THey have beaten the same teams that we beat and lost to the Steelers like we did. They also got stomped by the Eagles.
The Bucs are going to win this game…. 24-21
November 4th, 2010 at 11:58 am
Correction…
…I dont know why i’m the only person who see’s that….
November 4th, 2010 at 11:58 am
The best way to beat up the Falcons. Would be to keep the offense off the field. A heavy dose of LGB on some long offensive drives. Let Roddy sit and watch from the side lines.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
This is actually a good thing. If the falcons weren’t worried about ole’ bucco bruce than they wouldnt be talking smack. It shows that they are in their head, even if its just a slight bit. I didnt hear this last year.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
d-money, I agree with you. I really like our chances.
I think comments like Roddy’s just helps fuel the fire within the Bucs. The Bucs may not be the best team in the NFL, but they are ascending rapidly, as Raheem said. On any given day, when chance meets opportunity, they can probably beat anybody, and sooner than later, will.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:37 pm
D-money,
I disagree. Atlanta IS a pretty good team. They have a positive point differential of 36(we are -27). Atlanta killed Arizona 41-7, a team we just barely beat. They only lost to Steelers by 6, which we got killed by. They beat the Saints only by 3, but we got killed by them also. This will be a great test/challenge for our Bucs.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Joe, please tell us you have ways to get this info into the hands of some Bucs players.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
If you look at our defensive videos, we don’t blitz much – so the Falcons will practice and prepare against some of our basic looks. Imagine their surprise if we blitz the hell out of them. Just sayin’.
November 4th, 2010 at 1:14 pm
Rah writing checks his ass can’t cash.
November 4th, 2010 at 1:15 pm
Thank you Roddy, this is exactly what my team wanted to hear. You better be ready!
November 4th, 2010 at 1:20 pm
Buc You,
He’s been cashing them all season.
November 4th, 2010 at 1:34 pm
Josh Freeman is better than Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan doesnt have the ability to make something out of nothing when protection breaks down like Freeman. The only QB’s in the league with Josh’s play extending ability are Vince Young and Mike Vick. But Josh is a far smarter and more accurate thrower than either of those guys. If Josh continues to improve you will no longer hear the names Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco when people talk about the best young QB in the league. You will hear Josh Freeman.
November 4th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Roddy White is just talking smack. How likely will it be that the Bucs players even see his comments? Most of them claim they do not bother reading stuff about themselves, right?
But I hope they DO see it. And I hope someone from atlanta says Mike Williams sucks…the more fuel to the fire the better 😉
November 4th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
He has indeed been cashing them… let’s see how many times he can go back to the well with this proclamation. Problem is though, if he gets beat and keeps getting beat he is going to look more like a jackass than he already is.
But I find this entertaining win or lose. I like the trash talk hitting news each week. So credit does go to Raheem for keeping me entertained.
November 4th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
The falcons are 3-4 if Hartley makes a chip shoy and Nate Clements has a brain. They’re nothing special.
November 4th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
I haven’t had time to read everyone’s reponses. But if we go in there this weekend and slap their QB around and gang-rape their receivers, you are looking at one Falcon player responsible for dividing their locker room.
Post his comments in front of every player, Raheem.
November 4th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
I’d take Freeman over Ryan right now. Ryan is a VERY VERY good game manager type QB, but Freeman is the more dynamic playmaker.
November 4th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
I like it. It feels like we’re good enough to have a rivalry. That’s a much better feeling than just being overlooked when we stink. Win or not, its safe to assume we’re going to fight them hard for a long time to come. Go Bucs!
November 4th, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Snook,
We could be 3-4 if Spurlock is ruled out (lucky call) or Ocho Stinko catches a pass and doesn’t tip it to Sabby. I guess you’re saying were nothing special too then? If’s, and’s, or butt’s can be very powerful tools in the language of proclamations.
November 4th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Roddy white is waking up a sleeping beast.
November 4th, 2010 at 4:17 pm
Hey OAR… I know how you love to argue so I’ll go ahead and play…
I said the Falcons are nothing special. Yep. Does that mean I think the Bucs are nothing special? I’ll let you know about 4:30pm on Sunday.
My point is that the Falcons have riden a lot of breaks on their way to being 5-2. Just like the Bucs. The difference is… people look at the Bucs and say they haven’t beaten anyone good. Which is true. But who have the Falcons beaten? 3 of their 5 wins are against teams the Bucs have beaten. Another is against a weak NFC West team. Their LONE win over a winning team is against New Orleans. Who should’ve won that game. Missing a chip shot FG is far different than Spurlock’s catch or even a might’ve/could’ve catch by OchoCinco.
And you mentioned point differential earlier… WHO CARES?
Who cares that Atlanta only lost to Pittsburgh by 6 but the Bucs lost to them by 25. Does that mean Atlanta is 19 points better than the Bucs?
If so, then please explain the Bucs-Brown-Saints quandary.
Wins are wins and losses are losses. And if you look at it that way, the Bucs and Falcons are dead even. They’ve both beaten mediocre/average teams other than the Falcons win over the Saints… Which was all because of Garrett Hartley.
Besides, none of this will matter when the Bucs win on Sunday. I can’t wait to hear the hater’s excuses…
November 4th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
OAR..good point. I agree with the poster above, these two teams are pretty well matched. This is gonna be fun. I will be in CA, so I just paid $9.99 to listen to the game on the radio…I am afraid of those illegal feeds on my work computer, like a noght out with Tia Taqilla, no telling what you might pick up.
November 4th, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Snook,
I love to argue? I point out some things I disagree with and even ones I agree with from time to time, but I’m not arguing. You must be single, if you think I’m arguing? You replying is arguing.
BTW Winning teams with a negative point differential, means they got waxed a few times and are probably overrated. This year is an odd year in the NFL.
“I said the Falcons are nothing special. Yep. Does that mean I think the Bucs are nothing special? I’ll let you know about 4:30pm on Sunday.” Why? Is it cause, they might beat a good team?
We agree to disagree!
Thanks for playing??
November 4th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
McBuc,
Travel safe and Go Bucs!
November 4th, 2010 at 4:50 pm
Snook,
BTW Ocho catches that pass and they kick FG to win. Spurlock gets called out and were not in FG range. Those are my “IF”s to my point about your comment.
November 4th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Please stop oarguing.
November 4th, 2010 at 8:44 pm
He ain’t no Matt Ryan. He is so much better.
November 5th, 2010 at 12:36 am
Right on Max, Freeman is much better then Matt Ryan. Ryan has had a great running game to help him, Atlanta is not an easy place to get a win, but I hope Tampa wins Sunday.
November 5th, 2010 at 2:50 am
Hey we have a shot it’s not like we’re last in the league in sacks…We’re at least tied in that category.
