Stylez Talks Lumpkin, Blount & Breakfast
October 9th, 2010Late Friday, when not a whole hell of a lot of people were listening, the always entertaining and thought-provoking Stylez White was a live guest on Total Access on WDAE-AM 620.
The Bucs’ defensive end touched on a variety of subjects, and Joe’s got some highlights for you.
White said he played both ways in the Arena League, where he was a tight end and a sack machine. White said he once caught a screen pass and “looked like a big Barry Sanders out there.”
As most Bucs fans know, White had a long road to the NFL. He called his time playing in Germany in NFL Europe “a good culture shock.” He said he earned “$10,000 plus living expenses” in NFL Europe and his Cologne squad traveled mostly by bus and train.
On being more fit in 2010 than he’s been in past seasons, Stylez said he’s been watching his diet and “slowing down from a little partying.”
Asked by JoeBucsFan.com-loathing host Scott Ledger about running backs Gregg Lumpkin and LeGarrette Blount, White talked about their different practice styles.
“Lump is more of a smoother back. He be all prettied up in practice, taped up, matching, have all red shoes on. A pretty boy in practice. Really smooth running and stuff,” White said. “Blount is Blount. He’s like the blue collar guy. He just goes out and works. He’s just one of those hard working in practice; he doesn’t say much in practice.”
As for how Stylez prepares for a home game, he said he picks up takeout from Mimi’s Cafe for his gameday breakfast. “I get my french toast and sausage, and scrambled eggs and cheese, orange and cranberry juice.” White picks up the eats about 7 a.m. and then typically buys a newspaper “from the guys on the corner” before chowing down at home.
Joe found it funny that Stylez doesn’t have the newspaper delivered, but Joe, too, likes to support the hard-working guys on the corner.

Joe, why would anyone have a newspaper delivered? Showing your age Joe (j/k).

Eggs and sausage? Yum.

I love hearing that Blount doesn’t talk much, just works….that’s the kind of back I want on my team..
I just have feeling this guy is gonna be a star !!

Nice insight from Stylez. I like guys that talk too much and say whatever pops in thier head. I kinda had this feeling about Lumpkin, that he was a bit of a pretty boy, but Stylez confirmed it. Who the hell wants a big, slow, RB if he ain’t a hard hittin beast? We don’t need big, slow, pretty boys in the backfield. Just my two cents.
It’s nice to hear Blount has that blue collar hard working attitude though. Kinda already knew that, but it’s still nice to hear from inside. Hope we get to see him quite a bit today.

Joe who buys a newspaper nowadays anyway? REALLY?
October 10th, 2010 at 7:15 am
When White said her earned $10K plus living expenses was that for a season?
Did White say WHY he changed his name from Greg to Style based on a Michael J Fox movie?
Did White mention JBF.com? Does he read THIS premier BUCS site?
Inquiring minds wanna know….

Jdouble- lmao- ” I like guys that talk to much, and just say what pops in their heads!” . Definately the best interviews! With guys like that, you know they dont have an agenda!lumpkin is said to be a big smooth back with good quickness. I am anxious to see him and Blount get some touches. Gotta remember though, Rookie RBs tend to struggle in pass protection and catching passes. The also tend to fumble a lot. Just like a rookie QB, there is going to be a learning curve. I really hope one of our young backs shows the talent to become a feature back someday!

Joe here,
Mr. Lucky – It was Stylez who said he buys the newspaper. So I guess he buys it. Sometimes Joe will pick up a Sunday paper trying primarily to help the guy on the corner and to see who’s advertising, and see what his old colleagues are doing.
To your other question, Stylez does read JBF at times. He’s even sent us some love via his Facebook page.

Joe wrote, “Sometimes Joe will pick up a Sunday paper trying primarily to help the guy on the corner and to see who’s advertising, and see what his old colleagues are doing.”
Ahhh the good old days….
I stopeed reading the newspapers in 2007 and haven’t missed having the ink stained fingers since. Of course the bubble wrap for the dishes is more expensive than newpaper but…
As for Mr. White reading JBF.com – HE’D BETTER!
Where else will he get the most comprehensive collection of all things Bucs compiled in an easy to read format for a LOT less than the price of that daily newspaper. Even if he’s got a man-crush on Anwar I suspect Joe can supply a vblog?

This just in:
Let the smack begin…

Oh and Mr. White if you do by chance read this – it’s easier to overlook your sloppy practice efforts if you get some TFL or a sack…I’m just saying…

Pete wrote, ‘BREAKING NEWS – Cincinnati (OH) Cincinnati Bengals football practice was delayed nearly 2 hours today when a player reported finding an unknown powdery white substance on the practice field. Head Coach Marvin Lewis immediately suspended practice and called both police and federal investigators.’
Pretty funny Pete – MY first thought after reading this paragraph was,
OMG the Bucs took Tanard Jackson with them and he’s doing lines on the field!

LOL @ Pete!
Also, the poor bastard that DELIVERS your paper works pretty hard, too. I did it for two years when I lived in the NW…7 days a week, 363 days a year.
October 10th, 2010 at 9:02 am
Smitty that’s right. I did that too…a LONG time ago and it was a B**CH. Yeah that strikes me as funny that Joe and Stylez would rather go to the corner and buy a paper from a machine then support the hard working men/women who get up at 3 am to deliver the paper to your doorstep!!!! Doesn’t get any more blue collar than that does it?

Lucky, I think they mean to poor saps that sell at intersections all over the Bay Area…Hard working, no doubt. I just wanted a little love for the daily driver, that’s all.
