Why Are The Bucs Practicing At The Fruitdome?

September 9th, 2010

It seems, per reports on WDAE-AM 620 and from cool cat Joe Smith with the St. Petersburg Times, the Bucs are leaving the comforting confines of One Buc Palace for the tomb better known locally as the Fruitdome.

Why?

Joe was under the impression that Raheem Morris wanted the Bucs to embrace the heat? Hard to do that at the Fruitdome.

Joe is also convinced that Kellen Winslow and his gimpy knee won’t enjoy practicing on the turf.

The Bucs can’t be practicing at the Fruitdome to get used to playing on a baseball infield because Kardashian-chasing running back Derrick Ward was cut.

Could the Bucs be practicing at the Fruitdome to endear themselves to the charms of the ceiling rings?

Or could Raheem Morris hope to channel the vibes from Merlot Joe?

This is all very strange to Joe.

maybe they’re just insuring that they will definitely have a full day of practice? i.e. rain? ?????? and one day out of the son does not mean they’re not gonna be ready for the heat. they’ve been getting used to it for over a month now.

next thing your gonna tell me is signing one veteran OL is straying from “the plan” oh wait… you already did. lol

  4. bob Says:

this isnt the preseason anymore. they got a real game to get ready for so they probably dont wanna practice in any more hotel ballrooms like they did a couple weeks ago. (in case it rains) just a thought

    Joe,
Don’t question the Tampa Bay Blackout-teers!

  10. Mr. Lucky Says:

Joe it’s painfully obvious why the Bucs are practicing in the Dome – so no one can see them – just like this Sunday on TV. The Bucs are just preparing the public in advance. 😉

  11. Joe Says:

    Mr. Lucky:

The windows of all the offices of the Rays front office staff overlook left field, which just happens to be there area where the Bucs were practicing. 🙂

    Joe,
So your saying they are practicing in the fruit dome to get a feel for the amount of fans that will be at Ray Jay on Sunday?

“Hey, how come there is a big clay diamond in the middle of the field?”

    Rah

  16. Seriously? Says:

….really? Practicing for a day in the Trop is smart. Allows them to practice, while not physically draining them for Sunday.

The players have practiced in the heat all through training camp. They already should have embraced the heat.

  17. Lakeland Bob Says:

The big clay diamonds not in the middle of the field.

hey, maybe we are trading stadiums with the Rays. I’d bet the Rays could put more fans in Ray Jay than the Bucs can this year.

  19. BamBamBuc Says:

It would take the Rays two games to put as many fans in the stands as the Bucs any year.

Move the bucs to. St Pete! Tampa can’t support a football team and pinellas residents refuse to cross a bridge. If we don’t move them to st Pete they will be forced to move to las vegas.
