As WTSP is not showing the Bucs game they also have announced they will not be showing another game at that time. Neither will FOX be showing a game. So if you don’t have NFL Ticket you will not be watching any NFL football at 1PM Sunday.
the Orlando CBS will show the titans/giants at 1PM instead of the BO Bucs.
Iowa fan, it’s because the nfl wants to punish the local area in Tampa for not buying tickets to the game. The blackout policy is meant to boost ticket sales.
They don’t punish people in Iowa or Chicago, like me, because they can’t expect for us to consistently attend games like the local population. Besides, most of us don’t get a broadcast, anyway.
BTW, local bucs fans, I think it’s sad that we can’t even sell out the 2-0 Steeler/Bucs game at home. Even with the large contingent of steelers fans who travel, we can’t sell this thing out because of one terrible season last year.
I respect the Glazers for putting their foot down and not buying out the game this year… they shouldn’t have to. I think it was a generous notion to do it so often last year, because, well, they didn’t blame us for not wanting to attend that mess. This year is a different year and we’re slapping the team in the face with our lack of support.
Mr. Lucky – Where’s the love, man? Joe just wanted to let the people have a voice. ๐ Actually, Joe’s surprised at the numbers. Over 400 votes already and we’ve got a lot of lawbreakers.
Just for the record the NFL is handling this blackout in the wrong manner – just like the record companies handled Napster wrongly. You piss people off with an elitist attitude and people will not feel bad about “screwing” you. In fact Napster is now legal and a good bargin but it cost the major labels BILLIONS.
The NFL is not a cash cow but a cash PIG and we know what happens to pigs – “…pigs get slaughtered.” Mr. Gordan Geko
“Who is making the decision not to show any games at 1 p.m. the NFL or the local stations? is this some ploy to force people to buy tickets?”
The local CBS affilate seems to have made the decision. The first week when the Bucs-browns game was BO’ed they did put the Dolphins game on instead and might have done so again but for the phins are playing on NBC Sunday night. And the Jaguars are playing at 4PM on Fox. So they really had no other “local” game with which to go with that might garner some ratings…I guess.
The CBS affilate decided only after the game was already a declared BO not to go with another game.
The local CBS station does not get to many Buc’s games a year (Fox usually does them) and the fact that they also saw no reason to buy up any remaining tickets suggests that there are more than it would be worth to them.
I guess it will be reruns of Walker Texas Ranger for 1PM ๐
Fish, I want to argue with you, but I can’t, but what I CAN do is tell you that we are in tough times, so tough that the NFL should consider making an exception concerning live games, and allow those who can no longer afford attending ALL those games, why not show some empathy towards your loyal fans and make these games viewable because of the financial climate the US is going through? There are so many businesses these days in the US, that are being proactive in reaching out to their clients, be it discounts, payment plans or just flat out absorbing the cost, it would do so many things in the hearts and minds of fans (attending or not) that would show that the team owners DO care and are very understanding of this crises most people are going through. The owners can easily make their money back if not through tax write offs, then certainly through the restored faith of the fans appreciation (and not through civic donations which is very different).
It’s pretty simple, if you can’t relate to our (little people) financial struggles, then at least show that you have a beating heart! By the way, your saving 500k from Tanard Jackson’s paycheck that’s been voided, where will THAT money go?
Joe- I’m not quite so sure that “unlawful internet stream is the right term”. A website like [EDITED by Joe] is hosted in Sweden. What they are doing is not necessarily illegal in in their country. Other countries aren’t obligated to recognize U.S. copyright within their borders. If what [EDITED by Joe] was doing was illegal according to the laws in the country that their site is hosted in then you could be sure an organization with the money and power of the NFL would already have those streams shut down. The fact is that a lot of intellectual property laws are different in Sweden and what [EDITED by Joe] is doing is not illegal there. Thank god there are still some countries in this world where the almighty corporate fatcats don’t reign supreme.
Joe’s been in a good mood today and he’s getting REAL tired of writing this, but anyone posting any host that streams pirated live NFL game video will be banned. It is Joe who has to deal with the NFL lawyers, not the readers. It simply isn’t worth it to Joe to run the risk, sorry.
Please go to Google if you want to find these sites.
I’m stuck in Oklahoma and don’t have Direct TV. They NEVER show the Bucs out here, even when we were coming off the Super Bowl, we got Cowboys, Bears and Cardinals and Rams.
I’d like to switch to Direct TV, but the landlady won’t let me. So…
I either miss the game, or I find some other means of following it.
Why did you censor out the name of the website joe? You know the NFL can’t come kick down your door and send you to a gulag right? Anyway you missed one.

She can prevent me from mounting a dish on my roof. With out her ok, DTV won’t put one up there, and in my neighborhood, there is no unobstructed view of the sky without being on the roof.
I understand (and support) Joe’s decision to bar references to dubious streams. I don’t mean to endorse them, and I understand (and support) the decision to ban those who do.
Still, ESPN’s Sport’s Center app for iPhone can serve as a good source for following the game. A little slow, a little more nerve-wracking, but still, a good source.
I haven’t read all of the posts here, but if this has been mentioned…well, oops!
I was listening to 620WDAE’s Steve Duemigg show and a caller within the viewing area for the Bucs games said his local hooters aired the last blacked out game.
So it’s not entirely blacked out apparently.
That said, if we choose to watch an illegal internet stream, we’re not actually breeaking ANY laws. It is not illegal to actually view those streams. It is illegal to broadcast them, yes, but not to view them.
So, as much as the NFL might want to scare us, they cannot do diddly-squat to the fans if we choose to visit particular websites at certain times.
They also cannot sue websites for posting the web addresses either…but I understand Joe’s reluctance.
Of course, if he were to post a “Stay Away From These Illegal Internet Streams” article, then he’s just trying to convince us to steer clear of the sites he lists. Semantics, I know.
As for myself, I honestly have not decided whether to listen over the radio or watch the Internet Stream. I suspect I might do a little of both, since my wife returns from out of town and I have to pick her up halfway through the game.
In this day and age, even the WWE cannot prevent people from watching Internet Streams, and believe me when I say they TRY. They constantly scour the Internet during their pay-per-views. And they do shut down most streams at first…but they just broadcast on other pages and tell the viewers where to go in the chat windows that are always part of the broadcast pages.
Pete Dutcher – 1) Don’t trust sports radio callers 2) Don’t be so sure watching the game online is legal. Joe’s already talked to a couple of attorneys for a story he’s working on. 3) Of course, the NFL could sue Joe for site URLs that appear outside of a story format. Whether it stands up is a whole different story. But Joe has no interest in dealing with the hassle and expense. 4) How dare you hassle Joe for copy at 7 a.m.? Not much left to say before kickoff. Joe will be at the game in the press box, and the other “Joe” will be on the Blackout Tour to Fort Myers. The game coverage will continue here all night long.
I use NFL gamerewind nfl.com/gamerewind on my HTPC. Stream any game including blackout games since 2009 to my tv in 1080. The only drawback is that you got to wait until midnight. Thats not too bad for me since I work sometimes on Sunday. Its nice using it to watch other division games and upcoming opponents to scout what we’re up against.
