Piscitelli Spared Humiliation?
September 4th, 2010The buzz over at TBO.com is that strong safety Sabby Piscitelli will not be angling for a new job.
It seems he survived taking shots at his head coach.
Woody Cummings reports that The Tampa Tribune beat team is hearing Piscitelli has made the cut. Of course, Joe will update you here when there’s official word.
This is bad news for bubble guys like Preston Parker and Corey Lynch.
Whenever a bubble veteran dodges the bullet, that bullet generally finds a target of a young bubble player or a rookie free agent. Hence, why Joe fears Lynch and Parker may be looking for work in the next few hours.
Per NFL.com, the Bucs are required to trim the roster to 53 players (plus suspended Talib) as of 6 p.m.

The Bucs should sacrfice the Goat! Not keep him!
September 4th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
They will release Grimm. He’s a 7th round pick that needs coverage skills work and I think he would clear waivers and make it to our practice squad. IMO
September 4th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Maybe Sabby is #54 and makes it to week 2. Doubtful at best.
September 4th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
I really like Lynch and Grimm. I really hope they both avoid the turk
September 4th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Grimm has already been told he made the 53 man roster.
September 4th, 2010 at 4:14 pm
Hope your right Hunter.
September 4th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
he’s needed for depth.
September 4th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
I don’t think we will keep five safeties. If the rumor that Grimm is safe and I think that Lynch cemented his status, I don’t see Sabby staying even with Talib’s one week suspension. If Sabby is on the opening day roster, I believe his salary is guaranteed. remember, we don’t need an all-world saftey, we just need one that can cover and tackle. Sabby has better intangibles than Grimm or Lynch, but they have been intangible over the past three years.
September 4th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
NFL.com reported that Grimm is safe.
September 4th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!
September 4th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
This is very disappointing……Sabby should go, no question about it. Besides him being terrible, what kind of message does it send to cut a guy that had the preseason Lynch did to keep a guy that told off his head coach?
Is Parker available for the practice squad? I’m guessing that’s his destination……doubt someone would claim him off waivers given his past and status as undrafted FA
September 4th, 2010 at 5:39 pm
Raw heem put competition out in camp and still think that he should had a starting line up before training and them make cuts and bench guys one by one accordingly. Derrick got cut in favor of Huggins which is fine with me. The hardest workers wins the job. Sabby should be the same. Lynch outplayed him and dont do silly dances because he made a tackle. Preston should favor out M80. E.j. Should beat Mack. Lets get a starting line on all sides and stick with it.
September 4th, 2010 at 5:44 pm
no not Cody! keep Cody!!!
September 4th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
omg so embarassed, that’s supposed to be Corey, I don’t care about Grimm… lol
September 4th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
You guys hate someone this much to ne pissed off if he makes the team?
Holy hell, get a life.
Don’t throw a tantrum if you can’t influence the Bucs on personel moves.
Sabby is a fine young man!
September 4th, 2010 at 5:51 pm
the roster is posted on buccaneers.com
September 4th, 2010 at 5:53 pm
Lynch deserves to stay, especially after his performance against the Texans. Grimm should stay too, because i think he has potential. He didn’t really do anything spectacular in the preseason. Sabby has probably been the worst of the three, but I don’t want him to get cut either. There’s still hope in him.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:00 pm
We kept seven recievers? Wow.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:02 pm
And Sabby also is safe. I guess we’ll be seeing him a lot on special teams this year.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:02 pm
receivers 🙂
September 4th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
I think Sabby is now trade bait.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:05 pm
I agree, I think they’re trying to trade Sabby right now…
September 4th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
just checked Buccaneers.com, and Lynch, Grimm, and Sabby all stayed.
Saw the list of cuts and it seems pretty fair. I hope they bring back Carlos Brown and Xavier Fulton. Brown looked good in the preseason so maybe he’ll go to the practice squad. Fulton should come back because we need depth on the line.
Also, Rendrick Taylor is a guy i wished they could’ve kept and developed for the fullback position, because now with Derrick Ward having been cut, Earnest Graham should get a chance to run the ball more. Sick of seeing him at FB. He’s a guy who has proven to run the ball effectively in this league, and I don’t think it’s good that everyone is so confident in Huggins.

No chance Dew. The tape on him from last year and the public dust up he recently had with the coaching staff will stop any team from trading for him. He is the defensive version of Mike Clayton. The Bucs would have a better chance of catching diphtheria than a draft pick for him. But he could be gone in week two when Aqib is reinstated.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
I also think Brown is now trade bait. And Stacy Andrews would be a good pick-up with Dotson done. And I saw Simms was cut by Jacksonville.
September 4th, 2010 at 6:38 pm
Sabby makes it !!!
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Don’t cry though , Joe …this just means you still have someone to blame EVERYTHING on 🙂
September 4th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Bwhahahahahah!! sorry , i can’t stop laughing …
September 4th, 2010 at 7:09 pm
Sabby’s experience makes him a good back up and special teams guy.
Trading him is also a possible imo.
You need special teams players.
September 5th, 2010 at 12:01 am
Sabby gets cut when Talib gets back. Sabby will end up getting burned on the sidelines or get called for roughing the bench.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:42 am
I like the grim reaper picture. I think it should be put up after losses. After wins, maybe a picture of God or something. Ha.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:38 am
Lotsa win here, dudes!
Go Sabby
And I mean GO!
September 5th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
(Mr Credibility)
haha, you wished.
