Florida Heat Already In Steelers’ Heads
September 22nd, 2010Last week when the Steelers played at Nashville, offensive linemen were dropping like flies. That won’t get any easier for the Steelers when they wear their black jerseys in the middle of a Florida summer day.
Yeah, Joe knows it’s technically fall, but fall doesn’t come to Florida until Halloween.
Seems as though the heat Sunday is already in the heads of the Steelers, per a quote from Steelers offensive lineman Chris Kemoeatu, documented by Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Left guard Chris Kemoeatu, on the offensive linemen preparing to play another warm-weather game Sunday at Tampa.
“It shouldn’t be a factor, but as far as us big guys up front, we’ve got to make sure we hydrate (during the week). We sweat a lot, and we’re big men moving around. We’re used to playing in the cold. We’re not used to the hot weather.”
The heat only goes so far. Will it help the Bucs? Sure. Will the heat win the game for the Bucs? Of course not.

Off topic: Low blow or not?
What say you Raheem Buc fans?

Mike Florio has the Bucs at 23 in his latest PR. Getting a little, just a little love.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 29; 2-0): Beat the Steelers, and the Bucs will move to the top 10. Maybe the top five.

Of note, according to ESPN Stat sheet, the STeelers have the 31st ranked team in offense. Second worse team in the NFL. Thats even before Charlie Batch. For defense Pittsburgh is 6 and we are 15. How is it we are destined to be losing this game?

I love the Bucs home field (HEAT) advantage, especially when it’s against a northern team.
Welcome to the inferno Steelers!

Joe, question…I saw on the NFL stats page that the Browns have the number 1 offensive line in the league! They have Tampa bay ranked 13th! I think this supports your running back theory you have been spouting for a year now. Why does everyone keep crapping in on our O-line, which according to NFL.com is above average so far this year?

I dont care about heat.
GO BUCS!!!

While the darker uniforms do have an effect, I think it gets blown out of context. It’s not like the Bucs big men won’t be just as hot and tired. Half our team is so young and new, they aren’t anymore acclimated to the heat than the visiting team. I don’t think the heat gives us much of an advantage if any in this one.

Tomlin just announced Batch is starting Sunday. Batch did 13 passes for 19 yards last Sunday. If the Bucs Defense doesnt get double digit sacks then we have a problem.

Man, they’ll have to go back to his Lion days for film on Batch! LOL!
September 22nd, 2010 at 4:41 pm
How old is Batch anyway? I think he is younger than I think, but it seems like forever since I have seen him play.
September 22nd, 2010 at 4:50 pm
McBuc, He’s 36 years young! Last time he started, was 2001 for the Lions.

I will always remember Batch as a Lion beating the Bucs…..in his first NFL start ,I believe…..anyway it was extremely painlful

Batch used to beat people with his mobility, but he is 36 years old now. He does know the offensive system he is playing in.
The Tampa Heat certainly will be a factor, and so will our Fans, if they show up. The Terrible Towels will be out in force for this game, and we need OUR fans there too.
I think Tampa can win this game, heat or no heat, if we don’t give up turnovers.
