Choosy Mark Dominik Hit (More) Homers

August 24th, 2010

Rick Stroud and good guy Stephen Holder infer that Bucs general manager Mark Dominik has found his knack for choosing free agents in this St. Petersburg Times video. Their conclusion is based on the recent news that free agents Keydrick Vincent and Sean Jones will start over incumbents left guard Jeremy Zuttah and strong safety Sabby.

This video also suggests someone forgot a tripod. Joe thinks he needs a Bonine.

Yeah, maybe he should put that on his GM resume as a bullet of notable accomplishments:

    * Identified that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2009 Strong Safety need to be replaced, thus searched high and low through the barron 2010 UFA market to find a replacement for Sabby Piscatelli… even though he was only the WORST starting SS in the league and the fact of the matter is that ANY free agent would have taken his job… but don’t pay attention to those minor details… just understand I hit home runs in finding free agents like Mark McGuire! I prefer diamonds when looking in my rough 😉

I noticed while sitting at work that the Bucs have a vet at every single position except for QB, I just hope Freeman’s injury is not that long and hinder him the whole season. I noticed he stayed in the play after and missed straughter in the flat he overthrew him badly

Dom hasn’t even reached first base on a fielders choice.

TJ, Josh Johnson is a veteran.

I guess he hit for the cycle with that awesome Snead signing today.

Joe has as many NFL wins as our back up QB’s.

    This is gonna work great!

  7. Lakeland Bob Says:

They never even mentioned Dominicks name. All they said was we’re replacing two starters who were struggling.

  8. BamBamBuc Says:

Don’t worry, Lakeland Bob. The headline is deceptive at best. The first sentence quietly clarifies that they only “infer” he’s found his knack for free agents. It’s a nice subtle way to get people riled up.

  9. ZeroExpectations Says:

Boy I sure wish there were 18 regular season games.

Because if that were the case, the regular season would start Sunday!

2 preseason games is all we need.

Anyone who disagrees is not a REAL fan of football.

  10. BamBamBuc Says:

Yeah, and I have ZERO EXPECTATIONS that the owners will get that to fly with the players association. If we get 18 games, great, but I’ll keep my expectations at zero that they’ll actually get it done and we’ll keep watching 4 preseason games and 16 regular season games.

  11. gotbbucs Says:

if i had to choose i’d take a rookie salary cap over an eighteen game season for now. hell, i’d take a sixteen game season with only two preseason games.

  12. Gary Says:

    Zero,

Right now we all want an 18 game season. Thats whats funny about football. We all love it so much, during the offseason I feel like I would do anything to watch the Bucs and would be happy for a preseason game, scrimmage, whatever. But when the preseason finally gets here and I start watching, I remember why I hate the preseason.

Gary, so true…I was just thinking the same thing.
