Bucs Tuesday Practice Breakdown
August 18th, 2010Derek “Old School” Fournier, of WhatTheBuc.net, was able to watch both Bucs practices yesterday as One Buc Palace was open for club season ticket holders. Hence, his video report. Oh, and you’re more than welcome Derek! Joe’s always eager to help.

Joe:
I’m really sorry for bringing this up again because you have discussed it alot, but I just wanted to be sure about this blackout BS.
I live in DC, and the NFLN rebroadcast is at 4am, which is before the 11am local rebroadcast. Does that mean the 4am broadcast will be blacked out on NFLN even though I am outside the area?
Please tell me I am safe. I already made plans to stay away from TV/internet on saturday night so I dont accidentally catch the score.

Thanks Joe. I was hoping that only applied to NFLN viewers in the local area. This sucks. I will have to try and find a stream on the net.
Is there a website where I can atleast listen to the radio broadcast (the official one with Gene?).

Derek,
Love your analysis. It always seems like you can only get so much info from an article and your breakdowns are much appreciated. On a side note, thanks Joe for getting this guy for the site. You slowly started to warm upto me, and now I can really say that I always check your site first for news on my Bucs. Keep up the good work to both of you and Derek.
Go Bucs!

Glad you liked it @Jared. Blackouts suck but the upside is that going to the game will be cheap (unless, like me, you already paid your season ticket invoice!)
Should have another video up today after the last practice.

Gary:
DVR the game on NFL Network and cross your fingers. Can’t assure you it will not be blacked out.
NFL.com has streaming audio of the game, but of course it will cost money. If you are going to drop money on that, you might as well splurge and spend the $40 to get the online video of all preseason games live, including the Bucs (for non-Tampa Bay/Orlando people).

Some are opting to find friends with a SlingBox. I have researched another solution called Hava which allows multiple connections concurrently. I suspect there will be plenty of off the grid ways to watch the game though it sucks to have to go through that.
My big ass will be in my seat!

Jared:
You are welcome! But thank Derek for uploading the video to YouTube.
Joe slowly grows on all. Sooner or later, it’s bound to happen with Rachel Watson. Right?

Thanks to Derek and Joe. These videos along with this site are great and they are almost always the highlight of my Buc news scan. Derek’s breakdown of practices have made me feel closer to this team than ever. I don’t agree with everything I hear, but I appreciate your fairness. Great stuff from an insightful observer.

Derek,
Why are you always hating on Purvis? I understand he doesn’t practice very well, but as you said yourself, neither does Sammie Stroughter. Purvis looks great everytime he gets in a live game. He has a knack for quickly finding the hole in coverage and he has great hands. I just don’t get your obvious dislike for the guy because he drops passes in practice. Clayton is a practice superstar but sucks on game day. Guys like Purvis and Stroughter are just the opposite.

@JDouble
That is a great point. I have no dislike for him, I just don’t get it. Your point is a good one on the comparison. When I am animated about a player it is almost never personal (as the ones I know I actually like quite a bit). Purvis may be a really nice guy and may be a talented cat. I just think the three we have are better so spending time is a waste (but I will be more careful as I like to be consistent and you have successfully pointed out an inconsistency).

Another great job! Keep it coming!
