Barrett Ruud Came To Play

August 28th, 2010

There was a Barrett Ruud sighting! And it had nothing to do with tackles four yards downfield.

Ruud made the play of the game, and one that was likely unnoticed, in the second quarter of the Bucs loss to the Jags Saturday.

Joe was sitting in the stands in the 200 level and let’s just say Ruud is not a fan favorite. Fans sitting around Joe were hounding him, heckling him, mocking him. “Hey, where’s Barrett Ruud? He’s four yards downfield!” Joe heard one fan cry.

Ruud shut the haters up when he stepped in front of a Jags receiver in what would otherwise have been a Jags touchdown. Ruud took the ball down the left sideline to set up a Josh Johnson-to-Earnest Graham touchdown.

“It was a standard go route,” Ruud said on the Buccaneers Radio Network after the game. “I ran well for 60 yards.”

Ruud had  a convoy in front of him but the piano on his back caught up with him.

“I ran out of gas. I thought I was going to take it to the house. My front guy [blocker] got bulldozed and after I had to jump over him my legs ran out.”

But it was a simple yet needed play by a middle linebacker that opened Joe’s eyes. On that same drive, Jacksonville had second down and 10 yards to go when the Jags called for a run to the right side. There was a hole but Ruud came from his left, plugged the hole, and got a tackle for no gain – at the line of scrimmage no less!

It is simple, yet basic plays like that, not so much interceptions, that will keep fans off of Ruud’s back.

Joe, love the site, but as far as game day coverage goes, you suck!!!

  2. ZeroExpectations Says:

He was tired because that drive was nearly 6 minutes, had 9 plays as Jax was marching down the field to score.

But it was a great play though. Big, splash play and much needed at the right time.

Joe, you have to come up with a better way of getting the game out to your listeners! You want to be the go-to guy for Bucs coverage, you better come up with something 50 times better than what you had tonight–absolutely nothing!!!

    Let’s hear some specifics.

Joe’s not going to bring a laptop to the CITS. What do you expect Joe to do? Joe was Twittering when Verizon’s servers were working. Guessing you weren’t following Joe on Twitter?

  5. AriToldMeTo Says:

Joe Bucs Fan is not a live, interactive, in game website.

It’s a blog about the great Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Joe did mention that he was one of the many thousands at the game. Where were you Greg?

You could have bought a ticket. You could have followed JBF on twitter like Joe mentioned.

    I mean, what gives?

joe are you doing the football pool? wanna try an whip you again

  7. Greg Says:

Joe, need to figure out why your site prevents us from answering blogs by assholes like Aritoldme, let’s see if this one goes through…

    Answering blogs?

Sorry Greg, not sure what you mean.

  9. AriToldMeTo Says:

Whoa, whoa, whoa Greggory. You asked why Joe didn’t cater to your Buc needs. But you failed to visit his twitter option. You failed to listen in on the radio, as he also gave details to. You failed to even venture the ‘dark side’ and watch the live pirate version (my recommendation is for you to buy tickets for the cause).

So how in the world is this Joe’s fault? anybody with a brain knows this. Joe’s website talks about the Bucs one blog at a time. JBF generally has a few a day. That’s it.

Unless I am wrong, JBF is not claiming to be a complete interactive answer to the live Buc’s coverage.

So you a$$hole just don’t get it. Again, take your happy a$$ to the satdium and buy a ticket for the Buc’s cause.

If anything, it ain’t JBF’s fault. Get a freakin clue.

    AriToldMeTo:

    Thank you.

joe ran a live blog last week because he was able to watch the game and sit with a laptop (Joe’s not saying where). This game, Joe was in the seats. He was trying to Twitter but so many people were on their smartphones monitoring the Rays game the Verizon servers were busy and only sporadically was Joe able to Twitter.

If someone doesn’t want to follow Joe on Twitter, not much Joe can do.

It wasn’t like Joe wasn’t trying to get info to Bucs fans.

  11. Greg Says:

Screw you Joe, I’m done with your site and not letting my answers to asshole like Aritoldme go through, just like last week!!

  12. AriToldMeTo Says:

Greg, just email me those comments crybaby.

    😉

And be a man for once.

Joe has absolutely no idea what you are talking about unless you are using vulgarities that Joe has set up to block certain comments.

  14. Joe Says:

    Greg:

Joe just checked his list of spam and yes, you were using vulgarities like the f’word. That sends a comment straight to the trash.

Yes, there are two Joes. Both were at the game. The many posts you see late in the middle of the night right now after the game would not be there if one of or both of the Joes stayed home to listen to the game on radio.

Joe was posting on Twitter giving updates as Joe stated he would earlier Saturday. It’s not like Joe was ignoring his readers.

Sorry, Joe’s not going to bring a $600 laptop to the CITS just so some drunk can spill a beer on it and ruin it.

  15. ZeroExpectations Says:

Joe only has a $600 laptop?

God Joe, you sure are a poor man.

  16. Gatorbuc15 Says:

Lotta hostility here. Let’s try to get along with each other a little better guys.
I’m specifically speaking to you Greg. Stop trying to cause fights here, this isn’t middle school. If you can’t do that, count to ten, or just go away.

On another note, Ruud had an awesome game! Hope he keeps it up.
    Great post Joe.

  17. Joe Says:

    Gatorbuc15:

    Thanks!

    ZeroExpectations:

Gotta good deal on a Dell. 🙂

  18. mpmalloy Says:

    Show Ruud the money!

    Do the right thing.
Money will never be an obstacle, right?

Perhaps if you were mature enough to get pass the automated censors, you would have seen your posts. I guess ignorance isn’t bliss.
