“Elite QB In This League For The Next 15 Years”
August 14th, 2010Joe had to laugh when John Lynch opened the game broadcast on WFLA-TV tonight saying Josh Freeman will be “an elite quarterback in this league for the next 15 years.”
Lynch just can’t say enough good things about the Bucs. Outside of saying there was too much sloppy tackling by the first unit (see Barrett Ruud and Quincy Black), Mr. Lynch is just high on all things Bucs.
Joe can’t imagine Lynch is angling for a job with the Bucs. Is he just that much in love with his old team?
Now soon after calling Freeman a Hall of Famer-in-waiting, Lynch qualified his comments by saying that Freeman hadn’t accomplished anything yet. Uhhh, thanks.
Of course, Freeman went out and went 4-for-4, so maybe Lynch is on to something?

Its gonna be a loooooong season.

Joe, I gotta say…it’s been so long since this team has had a true, quality franchise QB that I’m cautious in assuming too much. I wasn’t in favor of the pick of Freeman at the time he was taken, but everything he has said and done since coming here has done nothing but impress me.
Even if he does get high interception numbers (which I hope he won’t), I suspect he’ll be a gunner and it won’t matter as badly in a couple years.
I’m really loving seeing this kid grow.

I thought the same thing Joe. 15 years, let alone with one organization, is an anomaly these days.

I think he’s off to a great start. He had some bumps along the way last year with bad decisions, but after a very strong offseason of study and film and coaching, he seems to be very focused and making better decisions already. Of course it’s early, but I like what I saw. It would be nice to actually have a drafted QB turn out to be a franchise QB. Only one I can think of is Doug Williams.

I’ll just say this, what Peter said…;)

I’ve said it all along, some of you pessimists are gonna find yourself without a job come this season. Of course, there will always be something to pick at. I think Mr.Lynch has seen enough “Elite” Qb’s in his day to probably be able to tell what one looks like??

Agree with Rican. Lynch has been high on this guy since last year. I’m going to take an NFL stars opinion over someone that has a website. I can see a rising star in the making and I’m very impressed with this guy and he seems to be a true leader.

Our first team looked very good against the Dolphins. I liked what Freeman said when questioned about the long pass to Mike Williams ” I saw Mike one on one, and I like Mike’s chances” is what he said, or something to that effect. This means he has developed the mind set that Mike Williams will beat one on one coverage. Freeman to Williams looks like a winning tandem we will have for years. Thank You Mark Dominik !

I just hope to God that we dont have any injuries along the o-line. Our depth or lack there of scares me to death.

Injuries are always painful (‘scuse the pun), but unavoidable for us it seems.
That’s why I think it’s important that Raheem gets the backups playing right. They were (mostly) horrid out there.

I really like Lynch’s assessment of the Bucs. I think it’s just another confirmation that, not only are we on the right track,But it almost feels like we are on the edge of greatness already. I think Neo is going to be the real deal, real soon

@Capt.Tim
I have to say…I almost agree with you…maybe more than almost.
I suspect the DE position will turn out fine, if not this year, then they will draft someone next year.
I’m still not sold on Benn though…he reminds me, so far, of Stovall…and we cannot handle another long term project like that. I hope he steps it up before the Browns game.
As to the other positions…we need some quality depth on the oline. And I think we have most of the spots addressed on the defense other than DE.
As far as I can tell, the only thing holding this team back is experience.

@ Capt Tim: who the hell is Neo???
August 16th, 2010 at 12:50 am
Pete, I have to agree with the “so far” comparison of Benn. I kept wondering who he reminded me of and i think Mo hits it on the head. He left me feeling like he wasn’t being aggressive enough last night.

Greg- Josh” Neo” Freeman! Because I, like Morpheus in the movie “The Matrix” , believe that Josh is ” The One”!

Pete- don’t worry about Benn. Word is that it’s taking him a while to learn our offense. It is alot different than that weird “strech” they ran at Illinois. But he will get it, and his only struggles are in the classroom. While Mike Williams may have an immediate impact, Benn will also have a big impact on this team! May just be around mid season before he starts to flash! But believe me, this kid has real skills with the Ball in his hand. He can be a great reciever, too! Just give him a Lil patience! 1st preseason game is two early to give up on anyone!( well, meybe Clayton and Ward!)
