Underrated: Aqib Talib
July 8th, 2010Surfing the net last night hoping not to find any Bucs who had to call mommy for a lift, Joe came across a very positive item about another Bucs player who has had transportation issues himself in the past.
CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco recently listed who he thought to be some of the most underrated players in the NFL. Aqib Talib, a Bucs starting cornerback, made Prisco’s list.
Forget the off-field issues of the past. He’s a good cover player. Matt Ryan raved about him when I spent time with him watching tape.
Prisco isn’t the only person Joe has heard this from. Joe has spoken with various Bucs insiders in recent weeks and if anything can be gleamed from dudes running in shorts at the Bucs OTAs, it’s that Talib was sticking on people like glue and was all over the defensive backfield.
Bucs fans, of course, know Talib is a damn fine player. This year very well could mean his NFL breakout year when all knowledgeable NFL fans know his name.

It seems everyone I ever hear talk about Talib says he is very good, and has potential to be great. I am not sure that he is underrated, since everyone in the NFL seems to think it.

His “past” off the field issues aren’t so much in the past as they are current. He needs to quit being a knucklehead of a young man if he is gonna reach his potential as a player.

Now, if we could speed up Lewis’ development…

We can only hope that Talib makes his mark in a very positive way this year on the field. Be the ‘Eraser’.
I REALLY hope that Lewis is a surprise… and is ready to take snaps away from Barber by the end of the season as the RCB…

Whoever is opposite Talib is going to get tested this year, for sure.

Talib is going to be a beast hope ronde is ready for his swan song cause he is going to get picked on alot. While talib only had 4 INT’s there where a few in the Giants and Falcons game he just bearly missed so should have had amaye 6 or 7 INT’s. Only down thing I can say bad is The Bills game a Old T.O. Burned him Twice (one was a dropped TD) Tanarad had a Great year too espiccslly for missing 4 games.

On a side note, “Mic’d Up with Cadillac” is back on buccaneers.com but with some parts cut out… strange.

@thomas How could you call him a horrible draft pick? He is easily the best CB in the NFC south.

Man, everyone was furious when Derrick Brooks was let go, but it seems everyone is screaming for Ronde to go? Where’s the love? The man has been one of the shining stars on this team for years, and can still play. Yeah, he may not be what he was 5 or 6 year ago, but he can still play. Give the man some love…..
(In a purely non-homosexual, football fan kind of way, of course)
